The original Painim Wok has the be the best PNG rock band ever. It is extremely disappointing that they have not been able to come together for a big reunion. So glad that I have got all of their big early hits transferred from tape to digital. My memories live on, and I continue to hope that they will perform together once again. Long live Tolai Rock !!
Enjoyed listening to these songs for the first time on big speakers at Sogeri (1987/88). I guess you are the same Bob Snow who used to be the DJ during the weekend dances. Those were the greatest days of my life.
Hi Bob, I returned to the school at the end of last month for my son's graduation. The assembly/dance hall was the same except for the chairs. Thanks for the memories.
4th of April 2024.. LEAD guitarist and Sound Engineer Late John Waals Warbat MBE was laid to rest at Bitapabeke Village Kokopo ENBP.... Namuka ra Matam Kande 'Waals' Avarmari na tur na-im piram'..
Brilliant sound. I miss the good and well compose songs of the past and listening to this away from home makes me appreciate the local musicians of the past, the likes of John Warbat, George Telek and Painim Wok/Barike/Apple Sun and all the other groups but not forgetting the late JW. RIP JW. They were way too advance and their music lives forever. Love it.
I am a huge fan of Tolai Rock music since high school(1987-1990) and I still treasure them even up to now as they are so touching and so original..when Im posting this , it reminds of my Tolai Brothers Thomas Kavanamur, Elisa Wada, Gima Lainor and Ludiwick Patem wherever they are right now...Boina Tuna lo yupla...Kerry Kimiafa ( 21/8/15)
This is where you find muscians today cannot compose songs like the way George Telek compose songs.Hes just a legeng.Iam a fan of G.T and the Painim Wok Band. They brouht PNG music to where it is today. You all are tru legends of local talents but recognised through out PNG and the South Pacific Region. Thanks guys for your talents.

Hi Jomah - Yes I am the same Bob Snow. Just spent four months in PNG working on projects to do with the Pacific Games. Yes, good memories all round.

Tolai rock still the best. Especially the Pacific Gold Studio for the tremendous recordings. 80's to the 21st century I still love their beats.
