Easily one of the top 3 movie scores of all time. Anyone over a certain age instantly recognizes it and the memories it brings. This performance is lovely and captures the majesty of the score.
I believe filmed in Spain? Wonderful movie but the I saw it at the launch. My Father in Law recorded Cowboy Movies on an expensive, Bang & Olufson, VHS Recorder and watched all the B&W Films on an Expensive Bang & Olufsen Colour TV, the biggest you could buy.
I saw this film more than 60 years ago. Fantastic western, lovely music, great cast. Cannot forget Yul Brynner, Napoleon Solo, the macho Charles Bronson.and certainly the Mexican gang leader Eli Wallach.

Every Navy Ship has a nickname. My ship was built & commissioned in 1960, the year the Magnificent Seven movie came out. Our hull number was 7. Guess what our Nickname was? I attended a reunion with 45 of the guys we went to Vietnam and back with, in Tucson about 3 weeks ago. Whenever the ship completed a difficult operation, we would play our song on our topside loud speakers! To this day, my cell phone ringer music is this.
I can never understand how someone composes music like this? Do they hear in their head? get inspired by something maybe see it, I dont know how they come up with music. Being an artist myself I know where a certain color or brush stroke would look, thats easy as you can look at it and know, but music, thats magic. So much respect fo the composers who makes art with music.

The thing I love about classical music is that you can feel the dedication hard work, perfection ,discipline, love and sacrifice that these artists made to their craft.

This is just magnificent. I think the ending is even better than the original. I play this 5 times a day, and was even found myself humming it in the supermarket today. Congrats to all at the FSO.
Where would we be without music, the people that studied it and play the instruments. You appreciate it more, when you realize how difficult it is to master the instrument and the constant practice to be a perfectionist. I admire professionalism in music.
Great to see how it's actually performed by an orchestra and the contributions of all the instruments. The percussion, the bass from the trombone section, never notice the flutes. This is great.

This used to be the music for Marlboro cigarettes when they were still selling them on television. All those Cowboys died from lung problems the ones in the ad. I still like the tune it’s wonderful.

I concur. I’m old enough to remember seeing the movie in the theater in the small town in Oklahoma where I grew up. Even now every time I see it the music sets the tone and puts me in the mood for a great movie.

At the end of Goodfellas he was in witness protest and said the pasta tasted something like noodles with ketchup. When I was in the Navy we had R&R in Hong Kong. The Chinese food there was light years better than the stuff they call Chinese food in the U.S.

Wonderful rendition! Ah, you can smell the great West in these notes! Of course, this theme was also used for many years as the Marlboro Man. I also enjoy that the orchestra colleagues are so proud of each other (see the other trumpet players clap for their colleague). I am learning this piece on the piano, and it’s harder than it appears - many key changes, very tricky rhythms.
One of the absolute best ever western movies ever produced. Believe it or not it the plot line came from the Japanese movie "The seven Samari". Another great movie. Even now at age 70 I still catch this movie whenever I can. If anybody is old enough to have seen this movie on the big screen it was a real experience. I myself saw it with my father at the drive in in 1960. Very few westerns or movies in general can match it. No wonder Marlboro cigarettes bought the rights to the song for their advertisements.
What's great about this is the robustness of the brass contrasted with the sweetness of the strings. Oh yeah, and the conductor almost dancing at different points in the score!
Besides the guy in the cowboy hat, I really loved the conductor in his clerical cassock. Plus all his enthusiasm! Oh yes. The very best rendition I have seen and heard, and I have seen most of them.

This was the break away music for my first ship the USS Henry B Wilson DDG-7, a guided missle destroyer. We played it every time we broke away from refueling or resupplying. I remember the Hammerin Hank every time it's played.
In the late 60's in So Cal on channel 9 there was the Million Dollar Movie @ 8 pm Mon thru Fri--& twice each on Sat & Sun--showing THE SAME MOVIE, so I ended up seeing the M7 6-8 times 2 or 3 times a year!
Simply fabulous, the greatest western soundtrack of all time.......dont even try, there's non better, Elmer still has the hairs on my arm lifting up, the music, the script, the actors, the director, the location, it had the lot, Elmer certainly left his musical footprint

Napoleon Solo in 'Man from UNCLE' was played by Robert Vaughn. And yes it is a memorable classic western film.
I loved James Coburn's character too. They were all the epitome of cool.

四十多年前,記得我老爸曾經擁有這首曲子的黑膠唱片,在電視三個頻道只能播放無聊至極的節目時,ㄧ遍又一遍透過唱片音響讓家裡洋溢著這段熟悉的旋律。
當然我爹的職業生涯,跟樂手,騎士,牛仔這些貼近曲目主題的身份毫無相關,但童年回憶深處,這首音樂活生生成為老爸留給我各種印象的一種最佳代替,只要聽到音樂就先想起老爸坐在舊家客廳裡自若的輕鬆神情……
四十多年後老爸不在的父親節,我還是一遍又一遍播這首曲子給自己聽,希望老爸早已雲遊四海的靈魂也已經找回曾經嚮往的豪邁精神~

I think I was about 16 when this film came out. By the fifth note I was totally overwhelmed.

子供のときに西部劇が大好きでよくTVでみていました。なかでもスティーヴマックィーンが大好きでした。この映画は、俳優も大好きでしたが、この曲が大好きで、いつも父に頼んでレコードをかけてもらって聞いていました。こんなふうに、オーケストラで聞けるなんて、ユーチューブに感謝です❤️

I myself saw it with my father at the drive in in 1960. Very few westerns or movies in general can match it. No wonder Marlboro cigarettes bought the rights to the song for their advertisements.
What's great about this is the robustness of the brass contrasted with the sweetness of the strings. Oh yeah, and the conductor almost dancing at different points in the score!

Besides the guy in the cowboy hat, I really loved the conductor in his clerical cassock. Plus all his enthusiasm! Oh yes. The very best rendition I have seen and heard, and I have seen most of them.

This was the break away music for my first ship the USS Henry B Wilson DDG-7, a guided missle destroyer. We played it every time we broke away from refueling or resupplying. I remember the Hammerin Hank every time it's played.
Wasn't your ship, DDG -7 known as " The Magnificent 7", or was that some one else's ship I read about.

In the late 60's in So Cal on channel 9 there was the Million Dollar Movie @ 8 pm Mon thru Fri--& twice each on Sat & Sun--showing THE SAME MOVIE, so I ended up seeing the M7 6-8 times 2 or 3 times a year!
