Girl you are a trooper. I was in AFROTC and still currently in architecture and doing both was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.. especially considering the all nighters with early PT
Finally a video about what a real week at usc is like not just the fun week cause it was stressing me with the idea of going in blind not having a gauge at what it’s like
you probably dont care at all but does anybody know a tool to get back into an instagram account?? I somehow lost my login password. I would love any assistance you can give me!
Just discovered your channel and loving it! In my country we take our diplomas separately from highschool so i actually took a diploma in archi for 3 years. Completed it but didnt pursue any further. Watching your vlogs makes me miss the culture invoked in architecture schools. The model making nights, crit sessions, the consumptions if architecture schools are not for the week thats for certain. Not too sure abt other unis but in my uni our batch has grown so attached to each other since we only see each other most of the time (got no time to socialize with other friend groups when the semester starts!) but i truly love my studiomates. They’re the best. Good luck in your journey with architecture!
Omg... the starbucks by Tulane's Architecture school closes at 10pm! I'm so jealous. The worst part of an all-nighter is finding food when everything is closed lmao
is there any chance you could show us the art portfolio you send in for the application?? USC is one of my dream school, it would be so much help to us seniors if you could show us so we can see what the college look for in the art categories.
Yay! Architecture is such an amazing major, it truly is so diverse in how it can be applied to future jobs. I'm not even going to lie, being a major in Arch at USC is super time consuming. First semester was especially difficult since we were literally getting introduced to a subject we had basically no experience in. It's so rewarding though, and your hard work pays off! The difficulty level will also vary depending on who your individual professor is! I'm planning on making a video about my first year experience, so stay tuned :)
Hi Morgan I’m a high school junior pursuing architecture. kaitelyn uses a Mac, but the program you are most comfortable with should coincide with the laptop brand. If you like revit get a windows computer, if you like sketch up get a Mac. If you like both get windows, you can use a sketch up website, and you can get autodesk inventor or fusion 360 which is similar to sketch up, but more focused to engineering.
Hi, I’m an architecture student at UT Austin!! First year is a lot of work, but still fun. The rest of school chills out, thankfully 😅 I would recommend a PC computer with a good graphics card for 3D processing!
Thank you sm for this realistic vlog!! I applied to USC so I’m in the waiting game right now! Hopefully I get in and get to see you the following fall!!!
i'm going to be a junior in high school next year and i've been checking out possible majors i might be interested in, you know, just to be ready i guess lol. this video was really helpful and insightful, thank you!! i've been looking for majors that i can apply my art to, and my parents have often stressed that architecture is a good combination of my artistic skills and my math/science mind- do you agree? i'm still unsure whether it's right for me
yes! architecture is a great way to combine art & science/logic through design and i'd highly suggest looking into it! i'm currently editing a much more in-depth video about arch life so stay tuned!
hiii kait absolutely loved the video! can you tell me a little bit abt your living situation? do you share yr room with anybody? are the bathrooms common to everyone? i´m hoping to go there and just wanted an idea of how´s the dorms.
I don't know if you're going to see this, but where do you get your hair done?? I'm going to USC in the fall (maybe honestly who knows at this point) and I don't know where I'm gonna get my braids done :((
Iniobong Idaraesit i typically get my braids done back home in texas, but i found a braider (LaShanna’s Braiding Salon) in LA, and they did a great job! super close to campus as well :)
Hey! Planning on getting a 16 inch macbook for architecture school. Thoughts on using mac for architecture? Do you run bootcamp for revit? If so, how is it? Thanks!
i actually have the 16in and it works so well! i personally do not run boot camp, and i’ve had no problems using rhino at the same time as illustrator, CAD, etc. we don’t use revit in the curriculum for first years so i haven’t had much experience with that. i have friends/professors that run boot camp and some say they prefer boot camp since rhino is like slightly better than on mac, but some that have partitioned their computers don’t even switch between the two sides since it gets quite annoying after a while. PCs and desktop macs render a lot faster than macbooks, however the adobe suite is a lot more user friendly on macs. the newest macs render quite fast, but it’s pretty common for upper year students with macbooks to invest in a cheap pc to render so they can multi task.
Great video! Love your style. Your definitely deserve more followers. I've applied to USC arch as well. Any advice for incoming freshman? EX. What laptop to buy? What to study ahead? Courses to take? How is the summer program? Thanks
here's some quick advice- incoming freshman: reach out and make connections (w/ professors and students) from the very beginning! networking is so important. laptop: get the highest processing core and biggest screen as possible! MacBooks pros are my go to, but PCs often give the same rendering speed at half the cost. studying ahead: learn how to use the adobe suite and autocad! you'll thank me later. courses: your freshman year will be a huuuge learning curve, so make sure not to load your first semester with too many GE credits outside of architecture. i came in with a lot of AP credits, but if you aren't I would recommend taking one GE per semester to space them out. your counsellor will send you a recommended list catered to what you need!
I was wondering if you could tell me more about your very very handsome co-host Joe. Like someone recommended this video because they said that he was so very hot. I mean he just looks amazing. Do you think your USC experience is enhanced because he is such an amazing friend to be around. I know he feels that your friendship is a blessing for sure ; )
this was an intense week, and i’m not gonna lie, a lot of weeks are like this, but it’s not always the case! there are definitely waves in our workload, and you learn to manage it
@Anton Anton Actually, if you ask any architecture major at a respectable school, they will tell you that if you care about your project, you will be spending a lot of time in the studio and pulling all-nighters. It shows how dedicated you are to the work you won't mind pulling all-nighters. If you see Kaitelyn's video, she shows an impressive amount of dedication and discipline because she balanced ROTC and Architecture, which is an impressive feat. So I would recommend you think about what you are saying before you say people don't have discipline.
i would recommend not having a job first semester if possible (just to get adjusted to school as a whole) however once you go through that and get a feel for the pace of school then you can have a better picture of if you think you can manage it.
Another architecture student here, a good hack is to work in the school somewhere. Most libraries or IT departments have part time positions where you can do homework while you’re working!
I’m going to be applying as a transfer student but I’m uncertain if I can afford it. Does USC offer financial aid? Did u get any scholarships or aid yourself? :)
i got a merit scholarship for a portion of tuition, however the type i got is only available to freshman applicants. besides that, i did not get aid, so i would suggest discussing finances with your parents or inquiring into out of school scholarships. i’ve earned some pretty large sums from writing essays for these non USC funded scholarships!
Hello!!! I hope you are well. We genuinely looking for assistance. My younger brother got accepted but fell ill since April. We tried calling and sending emails but there is no response. We are desperate as school is starting on the 17th August 2020. Please be kind enough to share any contact that can assist.

Matthew Sorgie are u majoring in architecture, or in art?

Would you say that USC has a lot of African American students and do you know wether the business department is good?
the diversity on campus is actually pretty surprising, i felt very comfortable! and the business school (Marshall) is definitely a great department
Please answer this😁❤
When you applied to USC did you submit a portfolio
awesome content!! and really inspiring!

You’re so pretty ✨🔥
What is the project at 17:30 called?? It’s soooo cool!😍
it was a project using colored light gels!
