    Hi there Ken andJoaneen, It’s good to see a new project on the go, a nice accompaniment to my early morning cup of tea on a bright sunny Cornish Sunday morning.
    Cheers, Mike - Cornwall UK.

    Love the new project. I don't think I have the guts to try those tapered sliding "one tails". I can't wait to see the rest of this one!

    • @treebangham
      @treebangham  Рік тому

      Yes, the sliding tails are quite a challenge. The guides are helping a lot. Thanks for checking in with us again!

    The intro with the cardboard model and demonstration of the joints makes this a great video, perhaps the best I have ever seen.

    I love my ryoba. Seems to be the saw I head to most of the time these days. It's funny that no matter how many times I see a chisel or sharp tool working up close I always wanna see more! Part one finished, I'm gonna try and watch part two tonight as well!

    • @treebangham
      @treebangham  Рік тому +1

      Yes, the ryoba is a very useful saw. Crosscut and rip….two saws in one, and the pull stroke allows for a very thin blade and saw kerf. Sharp chisels are always fun to work with, Joaneen does an excellent job with the camera to get the shots.

    That single sided or half a dovetail has been around since JC learnt carpentry from Joseph. Really, there are surviving items from the Roman Empire that use that same type of dovetail as well as more 'conventional' two sided dovetails.

    • @treebangham
      @treebangham  Рік тому

      I'm surprised we don't see the half tail more often in furniture. It holds very well and is half the work. Thanks for the visit.

    Was wishing you had a moxon vise when you cut those dovetails to cut down on the vibrations.

    • @treebangham
      @treebangham  8 місяців тому +1

      Yes, a Moxon vise would be perfect for that application. I used two handscrews and they worked surprisingly well. Larger ones would have been even better. Thanks for the note.
