I'm a literature student! And i want explain in easy way... Daniel Defoe: Moll Flanders This novel was published in 1722. It is based on a real-life character named Elizabeth, who was among London’s most notorious criminals. Elizabeth met Daniel Defoe at Newgate Prison, where she narrated her life story to him. Defoe then adapted it into the novel Moll Flanders, which is divided into nine sections. The protagonist, Moll Flanders, was born in London’s Newgate Prison. After her birth, she spent three years living with Gypsies. Later, she was sent to a school run by women referred to as "nurses." At school, Moll learned knitting and stitching. By the age of eight, Moll decided she would never work as a servant. Instead, she aimed to become a gentlewoman and earn her living through her skills in knitting and stitching. At the age of 14, the nurse who cared for her passed away. Moll was then adopted by a wealthy woman and began living with her. Moll's life became complicated when the woman’s elder son started persuading her to engage in a physical relationship with him. He wanted to make Moll his mistress and even offered marriage. At the same time, the younger son, Robin, also showed interest in Moll but wanted only to marry her. Moll eventually married Robin, and they lived together as a family for five years, having two children. Tragically, Robin passed away. After his death, Moll began living a free and indulgent life, partying and visiting bars. Some years later, she married a draper. However, her second husband was arrested for debt and, after being released from jail, fled to France, leaving Moll to fend for herself once more. After the draper abandoned Moll, her life took darker turns. To survive, she resorted to a life of crime, becoming a skilled thief. Moll used her wit and charm to navigate her way through London’s criminal underworld. She often disguised herself and targeted wealthy individuals, becoming infamous for her cunning thefts. At one point, Moll married again, not realizing her husband was actually her half-brother. Upon discovering the truth, she was horrified and fled the relationship. She moved to America, where she remarried and had more children. However, she eventually returned to England. As Moll's life of crime continued, she was eventually caught and imprisoned in Newgate Prison, where her story began. Facing the death penalty, Moll reflected on her life and expressed deep regret for her actions. In a twist of fate, her repentance and connections helped her avoid execution. Instead, she was transported to the American colonies as a convict. In America, Moll reunited with one of her earlier husbands, who had also been transported. Together, they started a new life, this time living honestly. Moll lived out her later years in relative peace, reflecting on her extraordinary journey from poverty and crime to redemption.

Daniel Defoe: Moll Flanders
This novel was published in 1722.
