    coach, ffs, can you stop with the Thibs mins bs narrative? Knicks two best players averaged 34 mins per game the last two seasons. thats in line with the Celtics, Nuggets, Lakers, Sixers, Minny etc. Thibs has only had player average 37 mins ONCE, even with a shallow squad in '21. And including playoff mins, excluding this past season, he's only played ONE player over 37 mins with each playoff appearance. Oh is that a lot? Jokic played 40, Bron and AD played 40, Shai played 40, Tatum played 40. Maxey and Embiid played 40. This is casual take.

      Thank you! This Thibs running his players into the ground narrative is so dumb. The only time it was true was woth Luol and Jimmy for a couple seasons. Even D-Rose who supposedly had his career ruined by Thibs was playing 34 mins a game the year he tore his knee.

    Reminder, the Celts gave up the heart/soul and depth to get KP and Jrue and won the chip immediately. Lots of Celtic fans were split and pissed about the trades. They gave up Brogdon, Marcus Smart, Grant Williams, and Robert Williams 3. This Knick trade is no different. Both scenarios involved risky moves trading away popular fan favorites and depth to bring in the more talented player that fit into the roster skill-wise.

      Great comment. Stuff like that usually gets lost to time and the haze from winning a chip…but it’s certainly how I remember it too

      The Celtics had two young stars one who was a top 20 player and a top 6 player before they made that trade and they didn’t give up much for KP and jrue either

      @@TheTwinkiefoot I don't see why not. If not, they are very similar. KP was seen as a much bigger risk than Towns is.

    Rudy on a max is the issue. If he was making $25-30 mil his perception would be different.
    But a max player with no bag does put a ceiling.

    • @michiganlover12
      @michiganlover12 Місяць тому

      Can’t give role players a max; even if they are elite role players. That’s the reason I think the OG contract will age terribly

    He didn't talk about KAT because the trade is not complete.

    We need to start discussing players’ roles separately for reg season vs playoffs.
    For example, coach Nick doesn’t think a team can win a championship w Rudy as a starter, because he is terrible on offense, so his defender cheats off and clogs the paint.
    Rudy is a great REGULAR Season starter. But shouldn’t be a playoff starter. (I realize he is outrageously overpaid for this role, but that’s not my fault…)

    Combo doesn't know twolves

  • @NiteOwlVibes
    @NiteOwlVibes Місяць тому +2

    This trade just made both teams way worse. Twolves just gave the Nuggets the Conference. Knicks just lost their depth, and increase the salary. Kat couldn't even finish games last year in the playoffs. Basically second exit for both teams.

    Derrick Rose was #1 overall.....not quite a PG that came out of nowhere.

    The only concern now is toughness.
    Who’s going to guard Embiid?
    No Hartenstein, no Randle, no DiVincenzo

    But how are the Knicks really less deep? KAT replaces Julius, Bridges was already the replacement for Donte as a starter. At guard position off the bench they still have, McBride, Payne, Shamet and the draft pick Tyler Kolek. They are stacked!

    • @pimpnamedslickback7780
      @pimpnamedslickback7780 Місяць тому

      Payne shamet are horrible players and kolek was a late round pick in a weak draft

    How many centers would nick put above Rudy? 10?

    KAT played fewer games than Mitch Rob over last 5 years, playing PF in softer WC. OG not much more healthy. No enforcer, decimated bench. Rose playing NBA 2K with our fam! Watch Nets get Ju and Spider with picks we gave them or for free as FA as both want to live and play in New York. Sign fellow NYer Precious too after his lame 1 year deal expires to come off bench and Knicks biggest problem is in Brooklyn not Boston.

  • @DrKnowNothing1
    @DrKnowNothing1 Місяць тому +2

    KAT is not tough, and not a leader, but he is a solid stretch-5 who can pick-n-pop, and space the floor at a high level.
    KAT is at least as good as porzingis, and Celtics made him look good as a sub-star starter.

      KP’s defense is better and his rim protecting is miles better. He’s also bigger.

    Looked up a playoff series of Detroit vs Chicago… Jordan and pippin both played 43 to 45 minutes every game…. Just saying your … and everyone else’s criticism of coach TT lacks any reference to history… or the injury status of the knicks…. Always looking for the podcasters / nba experts who don’t have exactly the same 3 sentence description of every player/ coach / etc…. Didn’t find it here.

      Different game. It wasn't as fast as it is today, and while the game was much more physical, there wasn't nearly as much movement on offense and defense because the rules were more about isolation.

    • @benpaschke9193
      @benpaschke9193 Місяць тому

      Stagnancy in offensive sets and less transition play lead to more breaks in game. Instead of looking up a game, watch it. You sound like a box score boy

    • @DrKnowNothing1
      @DrKnowNothing1 Місяць тому

      Yes, harder to play big minutes, all-season, without getting worn down in today’s game. Thats why every team now needs 1-2 low-skill centers to take the banging in the regular season, then ride the bench in the playoffs. For playoffs, go small-ball, any everyone will be fresher, and not as banged-up.

      To respond to the responders…..Knicks players STILL didn’t lead the league in minutes. Y’all been told by espn and it stuck. Until the injuries and NOBODY left, Thibs was fine. Brunson and Hart HAD to play to give us any chance to win.
      Is it that he plays them too much or that Dvo wasn’t gonna get enough minutes? 😐🤷🏾‍♂️
