American Idol made this girl so sad. Both versions she sang were gorgeous...more than anyone else in the competition that season. I think Harry Connick whatever did a smack on her when he "mentored" her. He basically said she didn't "get" the song and really had nothing else to say. Amber deserved so much more from this competition. It hurt me to see her so sad in this performance. Yet, her performance was deep down touching and completely different than the first version where she was so exuberant. Her other performances also were great on this show too. I hope she has or will return to the art of singing. Her voice is so mature, deep and vibrant. I'm sure she's much more gracious than I regarding American Idol and the mostly nonsense they consider talent. It's rare on that show that they pick someone truly gifted in presence; whose voice is more than typical routine we keep hearing over and over. I'm pissed and frustrated so much so, that I never watch that show anymore. It's pulp.

She sung it great but her confident spirit was not there. Mariah should have coached her on this song she is a true vocalist and know how to give constructive critique to other singers. Harry is not a singer just a musician and there is a difference. A musician plays an instrument, but a singer is the instrument and it is connected to the spirit and the soul of the person meaning coming from within.
Im listening again and realize the music accompianment (sp?) is all wrong. It ruined her performance. She does have 'IT' in her, but the orchestra clearly doessn't understand true jazz. What a shame.
