This looked a lot healthier than the store bought deli meat. At least I know there wasn't nitrate in it. And it's not made in sou vibe( seal in a plastic bag to submerge in boiling water to cook the meat to retain flavor & moisture). Maybe the plastic bag was BPA free but it's still plastic. It can secrete toxic when it's heated. Never trust plastic with heat. Roasting the turkey 🦃 in an oven is safe. Thanks for sharing the healthy cooking! 👍👍👍👍👍
Boars Head Sliced Smoked Turkey Breast: May 5, 2023: $14.99lb. You’re the first chef or even person I’ve seen put the oil on the meat after the spices.
Would this be a good alternative to eating subway sandwiches for weightloss or is this still considered “processed meat?” Is there any difference between this roasted turkey vurses store bought deli slices other than the price?
This is not processed meat like subway uses. A roast is not bits and pieces of meat held together with water like processed meats are. Yes, this is the same as deli meats in general. Most pre-sliced lunch meats are higher in fat, nitrates, and sodium than those that are sliced to order, as a larger exposed surface requires stronger preservatives. As a result, processed meats may significantly contribute to incidence of heart disease and diabetes, even more so than red meat.
@@DAVIDJALVAREZ Thank you so much for your response. You and a couple of other chefs on youtube have inspired me to not only be healthier in my deli meat choice but also to save some money. I’m always up for saving a dollar haha Thanks I really appreciate the response👍
@@DAVIDJALVAREZ This is terrible. You should spend at least a few seconds researching something like that. No one is America spends that much for any deli meat.

Do you have a way to do it in a pressure cooker? I love how much time you can save using a pressure cooker.
I don’t have a pressure cooker. Let me see about it

Got to get it in good. I put it for a coating to keep the juices in.
Does this freeze well? I'd love to do this but if I'm the only one eating it, it's going to go bad before I can get through it.
Buy a cryovac machine. Worth every penny. Cook, portion, freezer..
However, cryovac lasts long even in fridge
Not even about the price but the processed bullshit they put it most deli meats

@@KingKenTM Thanks! I appreciate the support and always try to give good tips.
Excellent. I'd add the mirepoix though it makes it more tasty.
Very true
Do you have a cooler oven than normal? My package says 350 and yours is 400 degrees. Which is right?
No, cook it at 400. Turns out better and you get a better skin.
Anyone know how high to turn the oven up to to brown ?
Broil
Who pays $30+/lb for lunch meat???
