  • The first recorded drive in my 68 Chevy C10 after completing a frame off restoration. Drivetrain is a 350 small block backed by a M21 Muncie 4 speed out to the factory 12 bolt.

I’d give anything to have the 69 I drove in high school back. I was only kid with a classic back in 99 to 2002. It was my daily driver until 2010. Im seriously considering buying another one and going back to a C10 daily driver. Im just not happy in a modern truck.

69 c10 here. I love it, it has 350 700r4 combo. 18mpg on highway only. So sucks fuel abit for a daily driver. Apart from fuel and upgrades doesn't cost alot else though. I tend to just use her when iv a job to do. Buy one and get wrenching 👍❤️

@@Harrybowles1969 I got a 1988 S10 that’s my daily driver right now. My Dad bought it brand new when I was a little kid. I had engine rebuilt and it repainted and it looks like a new one. It looks good and is as reliable as anything is. Most of all it’s paid for lol.
But I need a full size truck sometimes and definitely going to do the same thing I did with dads S10 to a C10. Only thing I’ll probably change on a C10 is putting a holly fuel injection on it and likely a tremec 5 speed transmission.

@@JohnnyRebKy nice!. Iv always had a hankering for a classic s10 to make a (fast truck). Maybe a 400 small block or something.
Yes fuel injection and a 5 speed would be nice for economy and put more ponies to the pavement! Mine is a quadrajet runs too good to mess with it or I'd be doing same 👍

Brother I have a 1970 C10 same color. Rebuilding the original 350. It has the SM456 4 speed big truck transmission, short length case. Coil springs, and an intermediate driveshaft support bearing. Do you have pictures or info. on the underside of how you did yours? The 465 is not a slip yoke, so I have to keep the intermediate slip bearing and 2-piece driveshaft. Will have to shorten the front drive shaft to fit the M21. Any pictures of info of your driveline build would help a lot! Beautiful truck!

Well when I cut the truck down from a long bed to short bed, I ditched the 2 piece driveshaft and went to a 1 piece unit and dumped that carrier bearing. With that I then made it a slip yolk as it was in the Chevelle the transmission it came out of. If you are just swapping the 465 for a car muncie 4 speed, you will need to shorten the front piece. I am not sure if the output shaft splines are the same between the 465 and car muncie's so that could be an issue as well.

@@camaroboy1968ss gotcha. I must retain the center bearing so the coils will swing the length of the rear shaft in and out correctly since I am keeping the long wheelbase. Both transmissions use the same length 10 spline input I believe, but a 26 spline like a T5 has will also work. I was thinking to throw it in, shorten the front shaft, and use the Muncie slip yoke on the front, it just wouldn't slide anymore. Just haven't seen this exact swap done before.

@@markjohnson9495 yeah just shorten the front shaft. I would double check and make sure both yolks are the same length. I never did check that. Only other time I have dealt with a 2 piece drive shaft where the yolk was non slip at the trans was a T10 4 speed out of a Buick and its yolk was much shorter, so you would need to cut down a bit more on the drive shaft so that the slip yolk for the muncie is not bottoming out. As long as there is a big of gap at end, you should be fine.
