good video chuck!glad to see Detroit building up and getting better!btw!i didn't know midtown had modern looking light rails running through it!salute brother!!
Yes and no. There has been a lot of construction downtown for the last several years, but all the progress is in a few tiny areas, the majority of the city isn't seeing much benefit.
@Doctor Detroit Nonsense. The construction is widespread. I live in Brush Park. That project is 23 square blocks and includes 1200 new residential units. Across the street behind the new arena is Neighborhood Detroit. 55 square blocks and 2300 new housing units and dozens of renovations including the hotel eddystone. Corktown is witnissing the renovation of the Michigan Central Station and 11 other residential construction projects. Midtown and East Jefferson districts are teeming with new construction.
Thank you for documenting this. Our government has enough money to start wars across the seas nonstop 24/7, yet no money for our cities. If all the people's hard-earned money that goes overseas simply went to the local states instead our tax money would actually represent THE PEOPLE!!!!
It's easy for a government to use money for immoral purposes that very few approve of when they can collect by force. But it's necessary because without tax dollars, nobody would ever voluntarily want to support libraries or figure out how to build roads. /sarcasm However, given the choice, I'd much rather have most of my taxes go to the state government than the federal government.
You're a liberal idiot. The federal government was created to primarily protect Americans from enemies foreign and domestic. The states are supposed to be independent with independent rights and are not meant to be supported or subsidized by the federal government. This country no longer exists the way it was intended to and if they have taught you anything in school you would know that.
We see one side of Detroit that's abandoned and Decayed then we see another side that shows us it's all built up and doing well 😂 as a new Yorker I do not know what to believe 🤦..
Our downtown is the beautiful & expensive part of the city...drive 2 blocks = poverty. They have been building so quickly, the homeless are still prominent down there. I would say our downtown areas are more similar to Cali. Beautiful then BOOM Skid Row!
Wow ! Amazing video, Charlie, that stadium with those lions sculptures is so beautiful. Great to see other side of Detroit, the tall buildings, modern facilities
false. i went to school right across the border in Windsor and have been there over a hundred times. my most recent trip was the summer, where i learned they are building a sports complex in the INNER CITY only. sorry about the rest of it, its not gonna make it.

Q line is such a waste of money that could've served a real purpose. why not build a line to Pontiacs or to the airport? to much like right. Dan Gilbert's toy railroad is what that rail line is. What real purpose does it serve? it goes the same route as the Woodward bus against which it competes. Just a novelty and a sure money loser.
As much as I appreciate the "published date"... I would appreciate the date film a lot more... only because the weather is so important on drives and it doesn't look as cold as in Ontario, on December 27, 2017, as we were minus 14 or more yesterday... Drive safe...
Sandra Nah I bet you wouldn't appreciate much. What are you babbling about? And what's your point about the weather? Here it was - 33 Celsius the day after Christmas.
INCREDIBLE SHOTS!! thanks!!!

Is Detroit making a comeback. I see a lot of construction.
Yes and no. There has been a lot of construction downtown for the last several years, but all the progress is in a few tiny areas, the majority of the city isn't seeing much benefit.
yeah like that monorail that only connects parts of the downtown business area. But for the rest of the city there isn't any proper public transport.

Jacoby's! So many good memories in there. I use to play there upstairs with my band in high school in like '98
I love my city Detroit 😍❤❤
Downtown Detroit is awesome.
Charlie you the man love watching your video keep em coming.
Thanks for watching.
2:03 Look at that big fancy new structure being built. One step at a time, Detroit.
A great video
Charlie I hope you optimized your vehicle for the frigid temperatures, your tire pressure and fluids bro.
I checked the oil
Glad to hear the deer got freed.
Still a nice city. It's just missing people.
Most likely because it's cold outside, so you can't expect 2 see a lot of people, but yeah downtown Detroit looks like the only nice part of the city.
SNJ try going to places like campus martius you’ll see tons of people
Yes, I'd expect to see a lot more traffic in broad daylight like this - streets are empty.
I'm ready to come by home to the 313 my baby!

BlueLou Boyle What stadium is that which he's crossing by on 9:02 min of video?
Ford Field, Where the Lions play

bruh they havent even been fully delivered yet :(
exactly
Except Toronto's runs on overheard catenary. These seem to be battery powered. And maybe fucking Bombardier delivered Toronto's to Detroit.
Don't visit Toronto...

matthew cummings No problem. Detroit is still a miserably cold and dreary place in the winter. Is Chicago at least sunny in the winter?
Looks like things are improving albeit slowly.
Hopefully this will encourage the revival and growth of Detroit's city core

Very nice casino. Was that Greektown?
Yes.
Do you understand that detroit looks better than Moscow?
God save America.... 🙋👏👏
It’s cold as hell in Detroit
Since when has there been a tramline? I was there 3 years ago and it wasn't there.
Oh and thanks Charlie I loved being in Detroit then but now I can come back a bit by watching your channel.

It’s coming back in certain parts but until those neighborhoods start look better and schools system improves then the city is making a come back

You should do one on the nightlife downtown
Nothing more relaxing than a ride on a chilly day in shit-town downtown
Take comfort Greg. No matter how ugly downtown Detroit may appear to you it will never be as hideous as your photo.
