  • Raag Kedar, named after Lord Shiva and the most ancient raag out of the five ‘Pancha Kalyan raags’ (namely Hameer, Gaud Sarang, Kamod, Chhayanat and Kedar) is placed on a high pedestal in the realms of Indian classical music.
Kedar characterized by its brilliant melodious complex turns with a repetition of सा-म. While preceding from ‘Ma’ to ‘Pa’, a touch of Gandhar (म- गप) or a smooth passage from 'Ga' to 'Pa' expressed as (म ग-- प) is the more common way of instant Raag manifestation. The meend from 'Da' to 'Ma' via 'Pa' is the heart of this raga.
Enjoy this Raag with its highly non-linear yet melodious phrases and a well-known bandish “कान्हा रे नन्द नंदन” (Kanha re Nand Nandan) by none other than Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty.
