    What lens do you think would be better for wildlife photography, the lens you're using in this video or the sigma 150-600mm Contemporary?

    • @cppuk
      @cppuk  7 років тому +1

      That was a tough question I love my 100-400mm lens and it works so well for me But the 150-600 is a very good lens a friend as the 150-600 and the Results are amazing as good as the Canon but the The weight is a massive down full I ask myself do I use the bottom end of the lens much and the answer is no I don't, I find I'm always at the top end 300-400mm so the 150-600mm would be a good fit for me and longer the better I do shoot full frame and crop If I was buying today I would take a very good look at the 150-600 but its up to you have a bloody good look fist the canon is a brilliant all a round lens and has to be one of my most used lens from air shows to wildlife the size and weight are a Perfect balance of engineering and it feels great in hand I know I can not Choose for you because I do not know your circumstances in photography but over time the size and weight will be a Deciding factor hope this has help you Cheers Chris

    Those Pictures at the end are incredible. Congratulations.
    I tried shooting some wildlife photography myself, and my biggest issue till now is to get the focus on the right point.
    I know this might just need more prctice, but I am unsure which way is the best.
    Currently I use single spot and back button autofocus (I press the AF ON button in the back with my thumb to focus so that autofocus and shutter are not on the same button).
    What do you think about that approach? Are you using that too? Are you not? Any additional advice?
    Thank you very much!

    • @cppuk
      @cppuk  7 років тому

      Maximilian Bushe you doing everything right the only thing I would say is set your focus drive to ai servo give that a go. Plus don't know what lens your using but has it go Image stabilisation at longer lengths you will need that hope this helps and have fun with your photography cheers Chris

    • @maximilianb8014
      @maximilianb8014 7 років тому +1

      Dear Chris, thanks for the super quick answer!
      I am glad to hear I am on a good way, I will definitely try ai servo (although I will need to google that first haha).
      I use a Tamron 150-600 (the first generation) on a d5300 Nikon camera. It has image Stabilisation. I tend to use fast shutter speed so I hope that camera shake or animal movement isn't an issue (but high iso). Usually, I see a super sharp part in the picture, but it often is in front or behind the animal. I thought it might be that I shake the camera while focussing so I ordered a monopod.

    • @cppuk
      @cppuk  7 років тому

      Maximilian Bushe which camera do you ?

    • @maximilianb8014
      @maximilianb8014 7 років тому

      It is a d5300 by Nikon. It has a crop sensor.

    • @cppuk
      @cppuk  7 років тому

      Maximilian Bushe yeah no problem it's is called something else on you Nikon think it's something like. Focus tracking. Not 100% but think it is let me know how you get on. Thanks Chris.

      This was my pro body the canon 5d mrk III you know when you just need. That something more. Got a nice Local pic with m3 just the other day check out the face book page if you like thanks Chris.

    • @marcandsebe
      @marcandsebe 8 років тому +1

      +chris paul I would like a 5D3, as I already have 4 L lenses, plus the 50mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.8. I would like a 100-400mm too.

    • @cppuk
      @cppuk  8 років тому

      +marcandsebe yes the new 100-400mm is amazing and was looking at trading in my old one but it's such a great lens the tradin value is so poor. The 5DmrkIII is the best all round camera I have ever used I love the mrkII and would never part with it, its a great back up think about a good 2nd hand one get into full frame with all them L Lenses your missing out on a lot thanks Chris.

    • @marcandsebe
      @marcandsebe 8 років тому

      +chris paul I had the 28-300 L lens and that was push pull like your 100-400. I would look at picking up the old 100-400. I sold the 28-300 to fund the 70-200 2.8. The other L's I have are 16-35, 24-105 and 100 macro. I would love a 5D3. What camera are you using to video yourself?

      white deer 1/100 f5.6 The two in the mist 1/100 f5.6 and the big boy at the end was shot at 1/350 f5.6 I know this is a little geeky but listen to the sound of the shutter and you will get an idea of the speed never leave home with out your tripod. hope this helps,Thanks Chris.
