Yes, I agree, but I just bought an original copy of Rubber Soul, from the year before and the greatness had already started there. (they had already done brilliant stuff but they began a new phase from Rubber Soul)
This band came from Liverpool but it was made in Hamburg. Had they never had their invaluable performing experience in Germany, they’d never have been any good.
"...any good."? After emerging from Hamburg's crucible they took on the world. Epstein put them in front of the right audiences and sheer talent and their individual appeal achieved the rest. For example, who today can name all the members of the Searchers, Jerry and the Pacemakers, Herman's Hermits ... ?
Will never understand the press in thinking they’re entitled. These interviews around this time showed just how tired The Beatles were with inane questions. They were growing leaps and bounds.
They all looked tired. When you see these little excerpts, you can imagine that they were fed up with that kind of touring with all these screaming chicks without any interest in music. To me the tragic of the Beatles as musicians is that they didn't go on tour again only a few years later when the audience was much more mature and grown up. There is a good comparison to the Stones when they went on tour again in 1969 after a nearly 3 years break. It was a challenge to play live because the audience was suddenly listening. And I wish the Beatles would have experienced that.

This was only the 3rd date of the tour (plus they knew straight afterwards it was on to Japan for a tour there) , and apparently their concert in Essen the night before was one of the worst they ever did.... also they were reserved about returning to Hamburg (this was their first concert there since making it big) and George was nervous about what skeletons were gong to appear out of the cupboards
Right about the time they decided it was time to withdraw to the studio and just drop acid (John certainly had already). I can understand why. Silly questions got old :)

They had to build their own shield to protect themselves from media and at this point they were already tired of the exhausting tours and press conferences every day.
@@jaimeloeragarcia5675 Height is one of the most noticeable differences. Pre November 1966 Paul was almost the exact height as John and George, maybe an inch difference between them.
