The cam that is at the bottom of the list lots of torque and still have the nice sound and low rpm power is the best thing for a 4wheel drive, don't have to rev up to make power to get out of a bad spot don't want to spin down in mud or sand
ignore the advertised duration and use duration @ .050 and you can change lift by changing rocker arm ratios and you can use one ratio for the intake and a different one for the exhaust.
I just rebuilt the 351w in my 1996 F150, and used the Lunati 20350612. I advanced the cam 4* for more low end, and it makes great torque off idle to the limiter in the ecm at 5,250 rpm. It also has World Products Windsor Sr heads, headers, free flowing exhaust, etc. which helped as well. I too spent a lot of time choosing the camshaft for my needs but I am pleased with this cam as far as torque and sound goes especially since it weighs 6,700#.
Had a 282 Crane Blazer in a 289 back in the day, had a lot of lope! Thanks for the video since it's going to be at least a year before I get the 21 or 22 looks like it's time to get the 69 back on the road! Thanks for the inspiration! 😉😎
After we get the new Bronco there may not be funding for the old Bronco 😂
@@alpinegarage8548 You got that right! That's been the tug of war right there! If you gave me the $47,000 and the choice between the two it's going into the 69! 😏
I spoke at length with a custom cam grinder for my TMoss ported gt40 intake, 75mm maf, 65mm throttle body 5.0 AFR165 head combo into a 3.07 geared, 5 speed 4x4, curb weight 4400 lbs. The cam he came up with was very close to the 35-512-8 (Xe-258-HR) he steered me away from the 35-349-8 (XE 264 HR) warning it may make more power but not the torque where I would normally be driving it. His custom cam had a little more lift than the 35-510-8 but not enough to really affect the combo. I know we are not apples to apples but I hope it helps.
Wow, that’s a lot of info. I went with the 264 so it will be interesting to see the dyno. Maybe we can compare when we are done.
@@alpinegarage8548 how is the cam going for you?
@@davidsemrad5266 don’t know yet. I took a few months off to start another channel. Just now getting back to it. I’ll be updating soon. Thanks for asking.
I was watching your video as I am in the same boat with selection but I must of missed what your CR was in your engine? I know for me my CR is a bit high 10.25 so the cam selection ICV on some of these may provide a issue for my build not sure about yours. Thanks
It’s going to be a little higher than stock.
Comp cams..264. The first one on your dry erase board
Yep, that’s where I went.
@@alpinegarage8548 when you get it built in running let me hear it idling... that might help me to buy the same cam for my 5.0
@@alpinegarage8548 I just bought this cam for my 302 build with GT 40p heads could you recommend what all I need to change on the heads to run on a stock engine?
Here are the specs I went with on my roller 306 build. GT40 (not P) heads.
would you still recommend the COMP Cams 35-349-8 in a 351w
Not sure yet. I haven’t run mine yet. From what I’ve heard you can’t go wrong.
