    You appear one of the very few Cubase power user who is able to put themselves in the shoes of lesser Cubase user. You single-handedly balance out many of the bugs I run into. In other words: Without you Cubase would be worth less. I hope your excellent work pays off for you!

    Thanks Chris! That was very helpful. Some of those I knew! some are new and very handy. Perhaps you could consider a video on vocal track processing. I discovered I can loose all my vary audio work if I do things in the wrong order. My process is to comp lanes if I have multiple takes, render and clean up lanes, then remove noise clicks or loud breaths. Then work on pitch correction with vari-audio. Once this is saved I can adjust on eq, compression and reverb. How do you handle vocal processing as a professional? Thanks and God bless.

    • @mixdownonline

    Good tips, I always use P, NumPad [1]. But I also set up Alt+G for zooming in the current loop. I like return to previous on stop, I wonder if Cubase has a "pause" button as well (and still remembers the previous when you do full stop). Multipitch correction is also awesome - I am using it for ages, wish Variaudio was workin on multiple events as well. =>
    What I don't like about the "in place" midi editing - you can add a button for it but that vanishes when it's active so you can't switch it off without knowing the shortcut. I bet there will be in place editing for audio in Cubase 10! Variaudio will be super useful.
    PS: By the way you say "click on key" but really you press them with your hands, right? (clicking is only down with the mouse) Don't worry even my daughters get that one wrong often. :)
    PPS: I would "kill" for a key shortcut to start the pitch tune (you always have to click on the left hand zone for switching it on). I know the shortcut for toggling between that and cut events but none to switch it on.

    • @mixdownonline
      @mixdownonline 6 років тому

      With the Wheel Mouse, you click on Command and up/down wheel mouse to ZOOM in and out... to slide left and right, just use the wheel mouse with your finger left/right. Same goes for the touch pad I believe

    Great tips, I have cubase pro 9.5 but I'm having issues opening the midi piano roll edit window by double clicking a midi event, sometimes it works but most of the time it doesn't , any ideas? I think I need to just set up a keyboard shortcut and usd that instead.. but being able to open it with the mouse consistently would be a bonus.

      Chris Selim - Mixdown Online sure is, I've set up a workspace now, as I give up, all settings seem right, but still no key editor will open when double clicking, at least now I can select a midi event and then quickly select my custom workspace and it opens a full window on my second monitor with the key editor open and the current midi event viewable.

    People often don't realize how MUCH faster they can utilize an app/work, by using some simple shortcuts. It can go from 2, to even 20 times faster !
    And when the app let us create macros, we can perform repetitive tasks in just 1 second, instead of 1, 2...even 5 minutes !
    Chris, in one of the live streams, i had asked you about being a cubase beta tester.
    Is it something you would like to be ? As a cubase user with a instructional youtube channel, would steinberg easily accept you as a beta guy ? (Though, i imagine they must hand-pick their beta people..to avoid leaks, etc...).
    This being said, and despite the +2'500 key commands available in cubase, there is something that i can't do in cubase, even a macro or the logic editor can't do it:
    Imagine you record or import a 8 beat loop, and you have 8 slices. I wish there was a way to PERMUTATE the slices/events, randimly. Yes, i can use the mode grid+ snap+magnet (something like that...) where we drag an element over another one, and they invert positions. But i wish cubase could have a function to do it.
    That way, a guy could have a beat and bass playing, he would import a few hihat loops, and with one key, he would slice that beat into 8th, 16th.. even 32 slices...and randomly change the positions. It would be great to try new ideas.
    But maybe there's a way to do it ???

    • @mixdownonline
      @mixdownonline 5 років тому

      I could probably be a beta tester but I never asked cause I'm limited with time. For your second question... that's pretty interesting, it would definitely be cool to have a quick way to do this in Cubase. Thanks for your comment!

    In Protools, if you have some tracks going to an Aux, you can right click on the Aux and hit "commit" and it immediately processes it and imports into a track (at least it did in the video I saw). Is there a quick way to do this in Cubase? I know there is the batch export, but is there something more like this feature in Protools I described?

    • @mixdownonline
      @mixdownonline 5 років тому

      What you can do in Cubase is to use the Render In Place feature by first selecting the Events you want to commit and bounce. The Edit...Render In Place...Render Settings... Select "Complete Signal Path"... This will render your audio events with their inserts and Send FX back into your project as a new stereo audio track. Hope that helps!

    Hi, thank you for those tips. Can someone help me for 2 little thinks I can't do on cubase 10.
    1 Group some events. It used to be "CTR + G" an it remains grouped each time I click on one of the element but it doesn't work anymore.
    2 How to lock and unlock channel. I used to have lock symbole on previous version but here there is no symbole.
    THANKS

    • @mixdownonline
      @mixdownonline 3 роки тому

      1. "CTR + G" is still the key command to group events
      2. You can add the Lock option through the "Track Control Settings"...Bottom right of the Track List

    • @holyann
      @holyann 3 роки тому

      @@mixdownonline thank you mate for you answer. I have a final answer to this topic. It appears that "grouping events" and "locking tracks" became some option that you have to pay for! So those options are absent on Cubase Element and Cubase Artist. It's totaly intolerable in my option to make people pay for really basic edtion functions. Its like if Steinberf sold a cheaper version of cubase for which you cannot save or export your project. So I downloaded the cracked version of cubase Pro. BUT, thank you for your tips!!!
