In the year 1910, King H H Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar ordered all the court musicians to compose Ragamalikas for the wedding of his brother Yuvaraja Kanteerava Narasimharaja Wodeyar with Kempu Cheluvajammanni Ammavaru. Many musicians composed the Ragamalikas. Among them Mysuru Karigiri Rao's magnum-opus Paani Grahana Mangala Ragamalika was liked by everyone. H H Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar impressed by this composition judged it as the best and honoured Karigiri Rao.

Yuvaraja's marriage was held on June 17, 1910 at Jagan Mohan Palace Marriage Pavillion . yes ! Actually palace built by Mummadi is the art gallery behind ! This auditorium was built as a temporary structure for the marriage of Nalvadi and his sister! This was also the last royal wedding held here! It was also the first time New Mysore Palace was used for the upanayana of the yuvaraja !

For some strange coincidence I was lamenting at the pathetic condition of Chamundi Vihar where the yuvaraja's family lived ! Wish one day you will be able to do a concert based on Bhagavatar's Chamundeswari Ashtottara shaba nama Kruti at the chamundeswari temple at Chamundi Vihar and that would make many souls happy !
