I've had this on my wishlist for a while, it seems really cool. This could easily be a spin-off to Wildermyth due to the art style haha. Good vid as always.
OH, NO! The evil landlord is again going around town in a rampage, all dressed in black, helm on his crazy head, running back and forth with his long sword menacingly unsheathed! EVERYBODY RUUUUN !!! (LOL) Thanks for your videos!
This game looks so cool. I never thought I'd care about something like Stardew Valley, but it absolutely hooked me. Since then, I've never found anything like it that I actually enjoyed, but this one seems like it'll scratch that itch. The more RPG elements, the better!
Charming little game. But to go off topic a minute, I can't wait to hear your take on Dragon Age 4 recent news. The upcoming gameplay video should say quite a bit about where the game actually stands.
It's a shame that there's no magic. In fantasy games I mostly like to play for mages, and to play for an evil lord who subjugates the will of the villagers by magic, summons demons and sacrifice people to the evil gods would be even more fun. It's also interesting how much the story will be worked out here, because in sandbox games usually the story is only rudimentary. But otherwise it looks promising, I will definitely have to try it.
Usually, I don't like the morality systems except when there are consequences. I hope there are consequences like perks/quest locked behind a morality score.
Hey this is pretty intriguing. I hope there will be a full game review to know how this shapes up. Something I wasn't clear on: is there a post-Moving Day campaign backbone? Or sandbox with side quests? Regarless, looking forward to how the villagers are crushed under the Heel of Mercantile Excellence (in game item?)
Reminds me of Stone Shard, one of my favorite games, so I'm quite interested. The only thing I dislike is how bland the portraits look. I understand that they're trying a kind of minimalist style, but the faces all look like Playmobile figures. I wish they had just a bit more personality to them to make them memorable.
This has been my most anticipated indie game for a while. I love fantasy rpgs with life sim elements like elder scrolls and fable. The other similar game im looking forward to is world of antera.
This game looks incredibly promising from the demo and trailers alone. I'm really curious if they will add a possibility of having kids since you can apparently marry. It'd be interesting to start out as, I dunno a tinkerer noble, make stuff and farm abit and have a kid that will grown up to be an adventurer instead. First character would basically focus on starting a buisness, forging relations and the next one would be more about action and exploration.
oh man if this is like a stardew valley esk game in this style, with more adult themes and consequences, that just sounds incredible. i absolutely love stardew valley, but wish it wasn't as wholesome honestly. i wish there was more content with being a disliked villager and stuff like that. this looks incredible, definitely will check out the demo and wishlist
Yeah anytime I see these life sims I just immediately want to see what happens if I choose to be a menace to society lol and sadly the answer is usually not much.
You get to kill a guy in the tutorial, you can steal from everyone. I couldn't get to kill all the villagers, it's yet to be revealed if I can kill all the villagers. Okay Mortym, I'm downloading the demo, but just want to say, I'm going in with different expectations than you. Cheers, 'LIKED'.
Ah this game looks actually sick, i like the artstyle too. Some cool rpg mechanics. Quite immersive for what it is, i’ll probably buy this it reminds me a bit of dwarf fortress adventure mode!
I have been waiting for a game like this for Ages! It looks incredible, fantastic ideas. Please bring to Nintendo Switch. I will Buy and support your game on Steam but I prefer to play on Switch.
@@MortismalGaming totally understandable! No rush! The game isn’t slated to be finished until at least end of next year so plenty of time to check it out as it develops
Sounds like a less chilled, more combat focus kynseed. Looks a long way off but nice base for a game with light RPG elements. Mortismal? You have time to show/look at wayward realm Kickstarter in your channel? Be good to hear your take.
@@MortismalGaming ya that makes sense, some can be a toxic fire. I have not back before this year since star citizen, so with my luck this will be the same(the other one I backed was a pathfinder arpg) . Thanks for the reply
The trope of a game allowing one to be a "bad guy" just feels like the standard now-a-days, it's not a winning attribute for a game anymore for me. I barely re-play RPGs with as fast as they come out now, thus replay-ability is not high on my bar anymore.
@@MortismalGaming top 3 favorite. Mine are FF4, 6 and 9. I also just played the pixel remasters and they are gorgeous so I may be a little biased. My favorite games are typically the ones with my favorite MC like Cecil from 4, Terra from 6, Clive from 16 and somewhat Lightning from 13 Trilogy. They all have something in common that is a big part of their stories and redemption arcs that I like. With Cecil and Clive they literally have to face the darkness of their pasts to gain redemption and a path and goal in their games. Too long to get into a comment section.
lost me at crafting and building system, some survival elements man indie games need to take a fucking chill pill with this nonsense, just design normal games ffs
This chanel is problably the best source i have to find new interesting games. Congratulations on your work!
I really recommend u checking the channel Splattercatgaming
I just now realized that mort's channel picture is a skull wearing headphones, I always thought it was a bald skull with side hair
Oh shit, now I can't unsee the side hair skull
it's like mauler were his picture looks like a skull on wheels.
Great, now I can't unsee the skull with clown hair.

Mirthwood definitely has potential. Reminds me a lil bit of the old Fable games mixed with Wildermyth. I'm looking forward to its development.
This looks awesome! It's been in my wishlist for some time now. Super glad you decided to check it out
this is such a great find! absolutely love finding little gems through youtube; its the sign of following a good content creator :P
If Twitter finds out you were oppressing fictional pixels you'll be in serious trouble, or maybe not

Every once in a while, I reminded that in games you’re a way more evil dude than me. Have fun twisting that ‘stache!
This seems like a really neat game on all fronts. Hadn't heard of it either, will keep an eye out

Something grabbed my attention when i first saw the trailer with this one just looks like its going to be enjoyable to play
The art style gets me, love the book feeling.
Always good to see new indies! Thanks, Mort!
This landed on my Steam wishlist because of the premise, and after watching this, I am definitely looking forward to the full release.
Someone, quick, isolate the part he says ”can I kill all these villagers?”

Looks cool. I loved the Harvest Moon games as a kid lol this seems like maybe kind of similar but with some more in depth stuff and quests?
I hate using the dreaded P-word...but this game, at least for myself has a lot of Promise.

Was hoping you would cover this promising game. Ty
The game is absolutely amazing!
This sounds neat! I'll keep an eye out on it!
Wait, you can joust? This looks fun. Thank you for the review. I've had this wishlisted for awhile. I'm gonna give the demo a go.

Mirth for all the family.
Been watching this channel since pathfinder love all the vids keep it up
I have a question, will the saved progress on demo transferred to full version later? Thank you!
Not that Im aware of
You should play fear and hunger
Stardew Valeey you say? Now you got my attention, will wait for full review if it is worth a purchase.
Appreciate the Video Mort!
You had me at “What’s going on…”
Have you checked out The Bloodline? If you haven't you should, it's still in early access but it looks great, it's like skyrim+runescape.
Ive seen it, I'll take a look when it launches
This looks interesting
Harvest Moon 64 with swords???? Could be fun!
My only issue with the game is the 'Rusty Copper Sword'. Copper doesn't rust, it corrodes 😅
We adore the evil doers.
Hey Mort are you going to check out Kristala? It’s a rpg that just released into EA yesterday. Scheduled 1.0 (full release) late 2025
Maybe, I'm a little busy for the next week

Good show sir

Is Mort's hyperfocus on abusing, murdering, and generally subjugating these villagers concerning anyone else? No? Just me? :|
So the demo is currently available?
Yep
Gronk!
GOing to revisit this ? there Bosses ?
Closer to release probably
For Mac?

I played through the demo and was not impressed. The art style and music are great but nothing about the gameplay or the setting pulled me in.
Mort seems to be the Bad guy in this sorts of games.... just like me.
I love your take on just lording over the peoples of this game, lol
Mort just want to kill villagers I learned today 😁
Listen you cant just hand me a life sim and expect me to not to murder a couple villagers.
How many FF games have you played?
Most of them
