Finally, I noticed that the suppose Windows Longhorn and Windows Vista Beta startup and shutdown sounds are actually from a 2003 Samsung theme for Windows XP and it never were used officially in beta versions of Vista. Windows Longhorn and Windows Vista Beta actually used the same startup and shutdown sounds as Windows XP. Also, since Windows 8 the shutdown sound was removed and the startup sound is disabled by default.
Win 3.1: OH GOD MY TELEVISION-OH THAT'S SLIGHTLY BETTER Win 95: Come and marvel, at space, and its infinite majesty---THERE GOES THE TELEVISION AGAIN NT 4: Looking upon the earth from space, then a ship dropping very very slowly out of warp. NT 5: A very bad warp drive landing that eventually resolves itself and drops you right smack bang in the middle of an absolutely beautiful nebula with twinkling things all around you and in the ship. Then, the same thing as NT 4. Win 98: An android's first sight, first steps, with a light sprinkling of unadulterated joy. Then, floating in a pool. Win 2000/Win ME: Astronauts stepping out of their capsule, to the light of their Sun through their atmosphere, once more. Win XP: Sunrise from space, or a solar eclipse. Longhorn: Staring into heaven, or maybe the middle of a nebula, brilliant reds and greens and blues flashing all around you, thin strands of gas parting before you. Win Vista/7: Earthrise on the Moon, and not really much else THANK YOU UNIMAGINATIVE SHUTDOWN SOUND THIS IS WHY I USE A LONGHORN SCHEME. In the spirit of iluvallmychao0071.

That's the Internet in all its glory. One Moment I'm scrolling through tumblr and the next moment I'm listening to slowed down windows startup sounds for half an hour xD
Vista Beta sounded like something out of an Eric Whitacre composition. This brought back so many awesome memories of computing as a child :) Some of the sounds (I'm lookin' at you Windows ME/2000 startup and Windows XP startup sounds) didn't seem to be totally faithful to the original, but that may just be the way things sound when extremely slowed down.
This is very beautiful, the most fantastic masterpiece, (I know it's just sounds from computers but when you put it in a really slow way, it feel's like your hearing heaven).
Oh, Don't worry, It's just that I do actually mean it. I like vaporwave, but it's mostly derivative, so I think it'll be around forever, meaning it's either always dead, or it isn't. I choose the former because It's not very popular. (is it?)
Vista Beta and 98 are simply stunning. Made a 95 one myself. :) Will probably do the same with 98. I added a soft drone bass for my 95 one. Gives it a kind of Steve Roach vibe.
The end song is the Windows XP welcome music you hear when you first install XP. If you are running XP right now, you will find the hidden track in C:\WINDOWS\system32\oobe\images\title.wma For those who wanted to know what the last song is! And by the way, long live XP!
+TheMamaluigi300 yeah, this to a new version of snatcher, it would be great, don't you think so?, also we don't have to forget the 80's, 90's feeling to it also
I don't know if it is just me, but I think the Windows logos should have stayed the way they were with 3.1-ME, I love that design, and it should have stayed with the clouds design, too. Even though Vista's was the most beautiful designed, Windows should have stuck with the classic logo with with clouds, it was very beautiful that way, too.
A Festive Ahead But a bunch of people ressurected her. And then Satan sent them a cease-and-desist letter so they stopped and the Vista beta woman was never seen again.

Windows Vista: Looks like it will be sunshine today! Windows 7: Good Night to you all! :-)
I would guess that it's because most instruments have an attack time. It takes a little time for the note to play at full volume. With a lot of instruments, this isn't noticeable, but when it is slowed, you can hear it and it creates a very smooth sound.

Seán Mc Keown Huh, didn't know that. Sounds good both ways.
But didn't Brian Eno make Win95 startup sound?

Windows Longhorn ("Vista beta") was amazing...
Windows ME/2000 sounds like an orchestra when slowed. Perfect!
NT 4.0 sounds like a jet slowly starting up then it goes into a dark ambient. 98 is relaxing like 95. Vista beta is like heaven.
I can hear the molecules...
I have experienced cosmic awareness. My god... my god... it's full of... Windows!
Workstation 5.0 is really ambient.
They didn't need to make music for Kerbal Space Program. They could have just used this.
NT workstation 5.0 is fucking terrifying
I don't know why, but I've always found the THX sound freaky?
_I think it feels like you're traveling to space._
I used to be terrified/in awe of the windows 98 startup as a toddler

Windows 95 is amazing too!
This makes it sound over 9000 times more epic to start up your computer. It's as though Gandalf had a laptop and it ran Windows.
That Windows Vista startup sound; beautiful.

Vaporwave? When these start ups are slowed down they evolve in to the genres: Ambient and Dark Ambient.
Vista Beta and 98 are simply stunning. Made a 95 one myself. :) Will probably do the same with 98. I added a soft drone bass for my 95 one. Gives it a kind of Steve Roach vibe.
