BBC ALBA Gaelic News was my favourite. Loved the Celtic music on the violin.

South East where I live has a different variation of the tune to the rest of England.
The Welsh one is pretty snazzy mind.

Although they were outdated regional news themes, which came to the point and delivered the news promptly, odd man out was World News America that has a new theme since 2020 + two sets of titles.
I like them all, Scotland and the Welsh ones are about the best. But to be fair how many intros of the same open theme can you make. Nicely put together, I didn't realise there were so many intros.
The real question though is.. how did Oxford swindle it's own opening sequence?!

despite the small size of the country we have quite distinct regional identities
They have just in the last few weeks changed the Look North Yorkshire theme tune to a slightly different version which is worse than this one in my opinion.

Why are the regional in England all the same tune
BBC Alba's shown on Freeview channel 8 in only Scotland. If you have Sky I think you can get it on 143 though.

I like both London and South East news before they made it two separate news programs.
I'm from SE and don't mind it but the Meridian Newsreader Amanda Piper is AWFUL she cannot speak clearly

There are 3 different Look North programmes for different areas of England.

3) Look North - Tyne and Wear

@boo453 : Of course ;) But from the point of viex from a French guy as me, all theses countries are a part of UK, and French say that UK is egal to England (Royaume-Uni est égale à l'Angleterre). But you can categorize other non-Enland opening as international ;)

I'm on my year abroad and all these regional themes are making me homesick - especially the Look East one where I'm from! The Scottish one is especially good though.
I never realised for such a small country Great Britain has quite a few regions. In Canada we just have a few major cities separated by thousands of kilometres. :P

Why does the south east get a different theme when the rest of England has the same? So not fair because it sounds so cool!
south east today wasn't launched at the same time as all the others,bbc london covered the same area and the new tune came in to be different-- that s.e today tune is now in 2014 used for yorkshire/northwest and points west.
SE Today was created in Tunbridge Wells almost Sussex and because South Today would be large enough and Kent and E Sussex needed their own news
