- Today you'll get to see my fail at obtaining Arkham Asylum's platinum. I love batman and enjoyed this game but I could not get the hang of the free flow combat system. Like I said, congrats if you have this platinum, it's definitely a cool one.

I also couldnt get the Platinum because of Combat challenges. Not every UA-camr would show a failed Platinum attempt, but you keep it real. Great video!!
It was painful I remember when I started, but I got every trophy of the game in 6 days of casual play
i found the platinum for asylum and knight easy, city was the issue.

My advice in the combat challenges is to hit then dodge on top of an enemy and this works for every trophy related to combat, because the dodge on top of an enemy keeps your hit meter and while dodging you don't take damage except for the shock and awe (extreme) challenge this needs the use of your equipment and needs to be very fast and this method work with every other Batman Arkham games
Extra: when you build your hit combo you can use the instant take down and with the last enemy you can do a ground take down when you have a high hit combo and to make an enemy fall on the ground you can stunt him and then hit him or use the batclaw to get him on the ground
This makes me feel better about myself for achieving this plat, you genuinely have to master this games combat to obtain the platinum, the fact you made it that far is still enough to earn my respect, you tried man 👍

I got the platinum trophy for Arkham Asylum earlier this year and have to agree these combat challenges are really brutal. I don't think anyone can blame you for quitting. It's a hard game and getting as far as you did is a great accomplishment.
The Arkham series were some of my favourite platinums. I loved the combat system so enjoyed mastering it during the story and always tried to mix up how I defeated mobs so didn't find the combat challenges that difficult really. The Arkham City challenges were way harder in my opinion, especially when you have to 3 star 3 challenges in a row without failing any of them. Nice attempt though.

Yeah the combat in this game was far too inconsistent for my taste, but it is the first game so I can forgive it even if it is a pain

@@monstermunch8670 yeah I get what you mean, a couple of games seem to run like dog shi- on a ps4 when on the Xbox those same games ran perfectly, it’s like I was playing in 720p or smth, however I do agree they should either “re remaster” and include origins this time or remake the whole lot… but still include origins
I member getting this platinum trophy back when it first came out! WOW having to do the combat challenges for it made for some rough times but also made me really step up my Batman skills! It also felt AMAZING getting it lol!
The free flow perfection trophy drove me suicidal.

Honestly freeflow was easy. It was 24 medals for combat that tool me 2 hours
My first time through took a lot of practise to get the hang of the combat properly. Once I got it though, it just clicked. I have now got full 100% completion on both Xbox 360, and PC versions, as well as the PS3 and PS4 version. My last time through, I got the platinum in under 9 hours. I would suggest just practicing the combat over and over. Don't worry about the medals, just get the combat down, and the medals will follow.
My last time through the game, I finished all combat challenges in less than an hour for context on how quick it can be done once you understand the combat properly. You can do it, just need to keep going at it. Hope to see an update video in the future :)
I know I’m a year late but I think that tip is life changing. I use the same mentality when I get stuck on a Dark Souls boss or something, stop trying to win and just focus on improving little by little. If you expect to win disappointment hurts worse, but if you expect to lose but keep at it for the learning experience you’ll win eventually.

@@deadgambler879 They definitely improved the combat to make it flow seamlessly through City and Knight. Asylum flows fine, but you can't make mistakes. If you choose to attack over doing a counter, you will get hit if the timing is wrong. In the future games, you could often recover to a counter instead. So with Asylum, you have to be more accurate with each move you pick to keep it going

While in Asylum it feels i can only do one at a time....

I.... Got the platinum. I'll level with you though, shock and awe on extreme really took a toll on me. Don't feel bad about not getting it buddy. Sometimes for your sanity you just got to walk away.

I know I’m way late to this, but I just got the platinum too! I agree that Shock and Awe (Extreme) was by far the hardest combat challenge. That one took a few days for me to get, and even then I feel like it was partly luck.

I just recently earned the Platinum Trophy on Arkham Asylum today. It was such a satisfying, and pleasant feeling. Many dozens of hours worth of gameplay, and I finally achieved it, I accomplished my mission. I don't have to do it ever again.

A trick for the combat challenges is if you start to get overwhelmed about losing your combo, just keep jumping over your enemies, you will not lose your combo that way
I’m not gonna lie to you, but this platinum had to be a one of the most difficult ones to get. The only problems for me were finding the last chronicle of Arkham and the extreme challenge maps. Other than that, I’m happy to see you tried your hardest to get the platinum
Edit: Just by reading the description as well;free flow combat has always been a problem for me, but hey, eventually we all get good somehow
Im normally not into this type of content but this video has a certain quality i like. Tbh this is a good mix between video essays about the game and your typical content creator play through of the game. Class quality
I also gave up on this plat with only the combat trophy’s needed left, it’s rough realizes there’s a skill diff but props to you for your honesty and showing in a video that you failed the plat run
As someone who is trying in 2024 with just two challenges left, it’s hard as hell. There is some chance that unfortunately can mess up everything, just to give one example I had combos fail even though I pressed hit or dodge with baddies right next to me, I just stood there or punched the air. So the best way I figured to do this was to do what little tricks I could to make sure I added up as much points as I could, like not getting hit and adding variation. This is far from easy though.
Honestly the hardest part was the underground stealth mission to try and stop joker from polluting gotham river
i stuck with them cus im very stubborn & im on the last combat challenge. i take plenty of breaks as it can be rather frustrating but i understand stopping altogether. i almost did as i still want to play arkham city & knight but i want the platinum for all 3. props to u for attempting tho cus those combat challenges are no joke.
I just got the “platinum” myself not but a week ago. I say it in quotation marks because I did it on PC. I thought shock and awe extreme was by far the hardest combat challenge. You got this though. I believe in you!
When joker shoots Batman with his gun you CANNOT dodge it whatsoever so you die to move on to the next objective

@@TriplePV Yeah the death screen tells you to dodge using the "middle stick" which doesn't actually exist.

The main thing I realized with the Arkham series is that it’s a stealth game and slower paced game so you really have to take your time. I come from games like cod, Spider-Man and GOW etc, so going to the Arkham series was a huge step in a different direction and it fucked me pretty hard tbh. Once I learned that the game wants you to play a little slower and use stealth to your advantage, I got a lot better.
THIS IS LEGIT MY PAIN THESE COMBAT CHALLENGES!!! THE PREDATOR CHALLENGES ARE 10X EASIER!!! (U need a bunch of variation, combo, evades, and ground takedowns to even have a shot at it)
Congrats for your progress, sorry that you didn’t make it up to the platinum trophy. I got mine I believe in 2017 or 2018 and the riddler missions are just pain because the controls are older. For example, if you're in the middle of a punch, Batman just won't counter and that just breaks your neck in the challenges. Luckily, the Games after that have better controls. For example in Arkham City, in my opinion the Challenges were kind of easy as Batman (even the harder ones), just some DLC Character-Stealth Missions were horrible (for me Catwoman and Robin on hard).
But maybe it would be good for you, if you would start with Arkham City at some point, there you can learn maybe better fight techniques&combos. Also the enemy design is better, preferably in Arkham Knight, but Arkham City is so much better than Arkham Asylum with the enemy design, fight techniques, combos&&&:)
I saw, that you‘ve already played/started with Arkham Knight, I didn’t see Arkham City there. So maybe Arkham City would be great for you to learn also.Just keep in mind that if you switch back to Arkham Asylum, the enemys will react dumber again.
Keep your head held high. You can't always do everything. Just try and practice again and again, if you feel like it, and you'll get better and better and eventually you'll make it, even if it's just luck. Good luck if you still try💖

If you were really only at 69 subs around the time you made this it must've been a crazy few months to get up to nearly 64k subs that quick. It's so cool to see someone be natural and just showing off fun clips even if you fail rather than some perfect playthrough.

Ironically I struggled way more with the Predator challenges whereas I found the Combat Challenges to be very easy...
I platinumed batman Arkham asylum, Arkham city and Arkham knight, funnily knight came first then I did asylum and city. The combat challenges on asylum were annoying for sure but honestly the hardest thing in the whole series for me was the on top of the world maps for the predator challenges in Arkham city, nothing else really gave a challenge that killed my sanity. Great video.

I have the platinum trophy and I'm so shocked that there are people who can't do it because it's so difficult for them, for example, challenge mode.
Trust me, I know exactly how you feel I was very frustrated when going for all the trophies and was so happy when I got them
I got the trophy back on the PS3 back on its OG release. The hardest part for me was the Freeflow perfection, getting all 9 moves in one freeflow is HARD. I’ve literally just replayed it on the Xbox after picking up all three games for £10. Just got the 1000 gamer score.

I got the Platinum for Arkham Asylum and had many troubles with the combat challenge called Shock and Awe. I spent 6h in the first one and 8h in the second. Completely unbalanced challenge. Now I'm trying 100% on Arkham Knight and I'm having even more troubles with a DLC called Community challenge. So hard that seems impossible to me. Completely broken combat challenges.

Did you ever get it @triplePV ? This is one of my first platinums and I am surprised you couldn't get it since you are so good at getting platinums in more difficult games.
I remember how i got the platinum (i play on pc but i still call it platinum). It was a random night where i decided that i would play arkham asylum, i saw that i had only 1 combat challange to get the platinum and after about 2 hours i did it.
67 to 100k subs in a year. The growth is insane
I got every trophy in under a week in between work. If i recall, theres a trophy for doing EVERY freeflow combat move in one combo, and trying to get that one achievement, i just did the same general system for every combat challenge, and kinda did the same for city
I know I'm late on this one, but... the freeflow combat challenges can be a pain if you keep trying to maximize combos by using all of the gadgets. Instead, build your combos until you can do the special throw, throw the enemy as far away from you and the other enemies as possible, then immediately do a ground takedown. (You get 100 points for a ground takedown, multiplied by however enemies there are, that's a lot of points) Batman will leap across the room to do it, giving you a little free space. If enemies are near you, counter them to keep your combo going or hit them. Batman should leap to the nearest enemy to keep it going. When the special throw is available, rinse and repeat. This is how I beat the hardest one, Rumble in the jungle extreme, on rounds 1 and 3.

If I recall correctly, there’s a trophy for defeating the two titans without using a batarang, you would had to play through the game again until that point.
Correct, but it’s just defeat one titan without batarangs, you can also go to the combat room that spawns titan and do it or play through the game again up until that point
Got this back in 2018. Really not that tough - just need some patience for the combat challenges.
Try to open up the encounter by immediately doing your large variation. Batclaw, 3 punch, counter, batarang, evade, stun, critical strikes & search for the ground pound opening.
That combo once a round will ALWAYS win you a Gold.
Also don't get the automatic gel explosion until doing the predator maps. Makes those an absolute pain.
yea predator maps weren't bad, got them super quick, i only have the combat trophies left, I was going at it for 4 months, I'm just not good at the combat

You got this bro fr. Once you get into the flow - you'll smash them back to back. I guess my suggestion is the counters sometimes don't read, so evade instead like a ballet dancer.

I say go for it again predator challenges are hard but just start with batarang/ grapple gun attacks and try and keep a constant combo and you’ll be chillin

Respect for throwing in the towel, the one thing I hate about the Arkham games is the trophy requirements including the combat challenges, Arkham Asylum in particular, the combat is so stiff in comparison to the later entries, the hit boxes for enemies and countering is so bad not to mention how quickly your combo counter vanishes without landing a strike, I appreciate games having a level of difficulty to them but asking people to complete challenges without getting hit whilst maintaining a flawless combo when sometimes your character won’t parry correctly or will hit thin air is just to much in my opinion.
I got all the achievements on this Batman but Arkham knight and the iceberg lounge AR is ridiculous
For the combat ones, try stunning, quick throwing batarangs and shooting enemies with the grapple more to diversify your moveset
The trick to getting high scores is learning to use his full move set and not getting hit (easier said that done right?) The trick for not getting hit is to extremely overuse the dodge mechanic, can't be hit by anything. If you need to recollect yourself, rather than fighting your way out or running or blocking/countering, you can just dodge over and over and over so you can pick and choose when and how you attack. Once I learned this my skill went WAY up and I was easily pulling off huge scores! Giver a go!
Shame you couldn’t get the plat I love this game and got it myself, also rip Kevin Conroy the Batman voice actor in this game

yeah i feel ya on the challenges i stopped and i did not even go for the predator ones even though i know i could do them and i love this game but am just not good enough at them and same with other batman games.
This platinum isn’t as bad as it sounds tbh my tip sense I have the platinum is when it comes to the fighting just be aware when u see the white signs pop up on their heads just know to instantly click triangle if it’s red jump over a thug by pressing x once or I think twice trust me I suck at remembering buttons and right now I’m going for Arkham city which in my opinion geez it’s way more time consuming and annoying with the fighting but I’m sure if u keep practicing you’ll get it that’s all the advice I can give also great video 🔥🔥
i know im 7 months late and i hope u read this comment to help u finish this, to easily finish the combat challenges and get the most points possible its based on variation and not getting hit as much as u can, if u spam L2 for the batclaw in the beginning of each combat challenge and spam R2 for the 3 batarangs in the middle of the challenge it should make it easier since it will knock 6 henchmen total to easily defeat the rest, now dont actually spam them or you'll lose ur combo but u should use R2 cuz its quicker to do than L2, makes it easier to dodge if a henchmen will hit u, hope u finish this plat i got it in 1 day (not to brag fr) but everyone had theyre own time, i love your videos and id hate to see u not accomplish such a easy one

I've actually just finished the combat challenges and honestly I understand why you stopped took me 4 days to get the combat challenges done
I do recommend you come back to the game some time down the road and master the combos with Batarang with the special takedowns (throw and special ground takedowns) which give you breathing room since they won't counter until you finish the takedown

I found this game easy to platinum maybe that's just me I've been playing arkham since the first one came out. I highly recommend to.platinum this game its really fun.
Triple, you can get this platinum, you've achieved much greater and harder platinum than this one. Trust me if you keep trying to get the remaining trophies on Arkham Asylum then you will question yourself, "why did I find this hard in the first place?"

For me the stealth ones were harder, I don’t got patience
The crazy thing is of the 3 main arkham games this is the easiest platinum because all they did following this one was stack up on side quests and challenges
You should really considering platinuming Jedi Fallen Order I played through it without any knowledge of the Star Wars universe but regardless it was a great game and I had a great time it wasn’t too lengthy of a game but it definitely had its challenges
P.S love the videos you’ve inspired me to go for platinum trophies It’s really enjoyable

Why you quit at that point? Once you understand how to do that you can easily get 10k extra in most of challenges.
Use Douge for continuous combo
Use fully upgraded grappling to start.
Use use batrang then gound takedown on last few enemy. (100x to combo multiplayer point for each takedown)

I just did the same thing with rdr2. Studied all animals but no zoologist trophy. Good thing I deleted right after getting uncharted 1
