I once worked for a place that made a certain circuit board-based sub-component for a larger machine that had an extremely high fail rate. The circuit board retailed for ~ $100, cost about $10 to make and the singular item on them responsible for the failure was about 25 cents and the better heavy-duty version of that part was about 50 cents and a direct drop-in fit for the crappy one. To 'solve the problem' they just changed the part numbers every few months and sent out service update bulletins.

In episode 1196 where he's talking about coverinstruments.com he goes over many of the tools he sells on the site and what they are for. It might be interesting for you.
I have to admit, when l was little l thought MasterLock were actually making really good stuff . Some of their locks looked cool, my friends were jealous I even loved the name, l felt secure with it Now LPL casually spends his free time destroying a little boy dream video after video Damn you LPL!!
He has a video on the same master combination lock used in my old grade school lockers from 40 years ago. Turns out they are really just two number locks. The third one simply unlocks the lock. It's video 617.
Lets take a moment to appreciate that the LPL is a good person. Or else we would have to sit through 5 midroll ads, 4 social media plugs, and a sponsor before watching him take 10 seconds to pop a lock
He's a good person because he doesn't have ads on videos? Instead he sells tools for lock picking and videos on how to use them. I wonder how many crimes have been committed due to the use of his tools and videos. Sure it is good to raise awareness of how easy these things are to open and to perhaps make lock makers 'do better'. But when there are many homes, especially older people with these locks outside their house it seems slightly morally wrong to promote a tool on video that he says he designed with this type of lock in mind.

I think Im the emailer :) (unless more people emailed about this one). Thank you for taking this one on. It is a Europe only model I believe, and the reason I wanted LPL to have a look at it, is because a certain alarm/home security company here in Norway "give" these to customers (I say "give"; Im sure it is calculated into the cost of their alarm subscription packages). Which means both my mom and my aunt have one of those on their homes, and knowing Master Lock's reputation when it comes to these, I was naturally worried. I had a small hope that since this is a Europe-only model, that maybe Master Lock had stepped up their game a bit on this one, but it appears not, which is unfortunate. At least I can now show this to my mom and hopefully she can take that key box down from her wall.
Leave it there and put an old key to a lock you no longer have in the box. Then put another lock box elsewhere (maybe a fake rock type? But paint it and weather it to match your yard). That way this Masterlock box will be a distraction.
I emailed too about this one, because I received one as a gift a while ago but I didn't use it yet, and wanted to know if I should start using it or not. I guess I will only use it for escape room puzzles or decoration or stuff like that now that I see this video...
Thank you! This worked so easily with your notched tool. (The videos from others about different models of master lock key boxes didn’t work for this type.) I had reset the combo on mine for a houseguest six months ago, and then completely forgot what it was. The box has been affixed to my water meter ever since. With your help, I opened it within a minute, and can now remove the box or reset the combo. So much cheaper than finding a saw to cut it off or buying a new box.
Master Lock Executives: We need a new design for a 4 wheel combination lock. Employee: What if we take this existing 4 wheel combination lock and flip in upsidedown. Master Lock Executives: Brilliant!
This one can be decoded in the standard way as well without the tool to grab the bar just feeling for a flat spot and notch along the right side of each wheel with the thin knife. I found the notch was on the number below the true combination, but was easier to feel than the flat spot which was on the true combination. Thanks for the videos!
As soon as I saw and heard the words 'Master Lock'...my heart pounded and I said "Oh NO!!" Geez, if I were Master Lock's CEO, I'd really be embarrassed!!
It was handy that the one wheel unscrambled itself, but in the future, Master Lock will incorporate convenient facial recognition technology. When the lock sees a face, it will open.

I came across these videos some time ago and watched a few. Weeks passes by and today i accidentally managed to reset the code and lock this exact box without noticing the combination! My parents have these at their short term rental houses so they just have to give the guest a code to get the key. Part of the security is the box is on the backside of the porch post facing away from the street. No one driving by would see the box and just keep driving. They’ve never had a break in.
I’ve been binge watching you for a week straight my boy, gracias for the new satisfying videos. I’m currently watching the naughty bucket chronicles! We need a part 2!
Of course not Earthling! This company is secretly run by me and I just use the official workers just to produce bad locks so that I can have an income and entertainment in Lock Picking Lawyer violaying those locks!
The same binding effect can be creted by pressing the lock actuators. Opened one of this style in a bank as a child, that box provided the key to the back office. You can imagine the flap they had when a six year old child opened that lock. Lol

LPL: This is a Master Lock model...
Me: That's going to be a very short video!
Me: This is a short video, gotta be Master Lock
LPL: This is a Master Lock model .....
Me:
Thank god he talks a bit about the history of a lock and how it's designed. Otherwise all these videos combined, would not be as long as one of the YT ads, lol.
Everyone else: *freaks out over* “pick Bosnian Bill and I made”
Me: “change it to a combination I don’t already know”
My parents have these at their short term rental houses so they just have to give the guest a code to get the key. Part of the security is the box is on the backside of the porch post facing away from the street. No one driving by would see the box and just keep driving. They’ve never had a break in.
Where is this house located exactly?
"Want to hear something very sad?" "One day in the future, LPL will give something a bad scramble." 💔
A bad scramble would be, what, arriving at the combination entirely by chance?

Thanks for teaching and selling people the tools and knowledge to pick locks and make the rest of us unsafe for your financial gain.
LPL: *posts*
My finger: *you have summoned the fast one*
I’ve been binge watching you for a week straight my boy, gracias for the new satisfying videos. I’m currently watching the naughty bucket chronicles! We need a part 2!
I have this realized probably after two years you can demolish any of those locks in under a minute I retract my statement 🤣
Any update on the unpickable lock stuff made here made, and do you think its a good premise?
@QED?
@@patrickthestan Bumping the comment to get it higher up, so more people will see it
.
@QED this is not 4chan
Last I heard there were improvements being made before it was sent to LPL.
Starting off the weekend right!!! Woot!!!
Is there a lock you scrambled but never managed to open?
I love your videos, you should start a business that you test people’s security system for doors and locks, that would be a good job for you!
Im gonna go out on a limb and guess you don’t get a Christmas card from the development team at master lock
The question is will they put a hit out on him for embarrassing them so badly and so often?
But he does get cards from jailed burglars from around the world.
Just wanted to say... Robert, I loved the Holographic doctor character you played in Star Trek Voyager!
This lock isn't going to go well, it's way too short! Lol
Well, he did only open it once, but he also spent half the video explaining that it has the same flaw as a more common lock.
I laugh at how people think you're fake. Keep doing what you're doing.
Will Master Lock ever make a decent lock?
Of course not Earthling! This company is secretly run by me and I just use the official workers just to produce bad locks so that I can have an income and entertainment in Lock Picking Lawyer violaying those locks!
Nice one. I cheated and put a notch in one of my mini knives. Works a treat 👍
The same binding effect can be creted by pressing the lock actuators.
Opened one of this style in a bank as a child, that box provided the key to the back office.
You can imagine the flap they had when a six year old child opened that lock. Lol
You are literally the Bob Ross of locks.
BREAKING: MasterLock has entered a plea bargain for this and all future trials of their products - an admission of inadequacy in exchange for videos lasting at least four minutes.
Plot twist, LPL gives 3:30 minutes of background info and closes video with 20 seconds of outro.
Your scrambling is surprisingly close to a 5:4 polyrhythm, that's pretty neat
Depending on one stream of income had never made any millionaire and earning check don't put you on forbes
Bitcoin trending might make you Rich if you are hedge found with deep pockets or an unusual skilled currency trader
Yeah, but when you trade with a professional broker that won't bother you
You are right, in the past I tried trading on my own but made almost no profit until I was link to a professional, the result was exceptional
My first investment with a professional earned me $9100 with $1000 in less than a week
Unbelievable!!!!
Funny, he can pick the lock apart fast but fails to pick the lock that is within his own heart. That tool my friend is love.
Hello lpl
Master Lock: Jack of all trades. Master of none.
Dude I've been picking as a hobby for yopears but you amaze me
Omg is that the bite of 83 !!!?
I´d like to see some more challenging locks again ...
It also looks like those hinge pins might come out fairly easily.
1983. My birth year. lol Just thought that was kind of neat. :)
