Oh, God... Feeling nostalgic! In the mid-seventies i used to work in a newspaper, mostly the night shift. Whenever possible with a couple of friends IT WAS BIRYAANI AT TGE GRAND HOTEL! Those days there were not many restaurants worth mentioning who would serve GOOD FINGER-LICKING BIRYAANI. Post Biryaani it was Irani Chai time. Now I am pushing my 70th year of life and a hundred-some Biryaani restaurants later Grand Hotel Biryaani stiil tickles my taste buds.
That's the Hyderabadi style sitting down in the non AC area and eating biryani! That's our memory we used to sit in NON AC because sitting in AC family is some what costly but great memories
Also please try out the SAMOSAS (Irani Samosas) that are very typical to Hyderabad. They are different from the normal potato samosas available across the country. The filling is usually made of Mutton or Chicken. The Hyderabadi Irani Tea paired with local biscuits / cookies are also very unique to Hyderabad.
