    Bought this since it's the only EV with a decent (>20cm) ground clearance in the price bracket. Was looking also at Model Y but I'm pretty sure I would end up getting stuck during winters on forest tracks. (Finland)

      Well as much I agree with you, it seems the future of car buying is now in leasing. The second hand market is being kept artificially high (cartels lol) so new cars can cost what they want as we’ll all be leasing in the future it seems ☹️☹️☹️☹️

    • @Bullcutter
      @Bullcutter 2 роки тому +1

      @@rajjy1976 Leasing or using its real name, renting, is dead money! It's ok for companies to lease cars for their employees and write them off as expenditure on their tax, but families can't afford to handover thousands of pounds for renting a car for 3 or 4 years! They are far better buying HP (installments) or personal purchase plan, which is half-way between leasing and higher purchase. The reason for the high cost of the electric cars is the price of lithium. There was expectation that price parity with internal combustion cars will be reached soon, but with lithium price surge, it may not happen soon. Lithium supply is limited and it looks that hybrid engine might be the best intermediate solutions until further developments happen. Not withstanding the nonsense spoken by environmentalists!

    With the whole point about the driving display being mounted above the steering wheel instead of being and the complaint some people have about the wheel potentially obscuring it depending on your seating position - maybe this point isn't very well made, but how is that different from literally any other car? I'm quite tall and I have to duck my head slightly to see parts of the instrument display in my current car. It's not a huge inconvenience, it's just a natural result of not everyone being able to view the same display from the same position. Is this video saying they found the issue worse in this vehicle?

    Most new ev models now seem to come with very little choice, just with a few models that come with fixed sets of features. When I last bought a car, there was an almost bewildering choice of options. I was particularly struck by the twenty inch wheels on an SUV. The few people I know who have specified large alloys on new cars have wanted to change them very soon after meeting the Scottish Highland's third-world roads. How long will they last in off road use? It would seem that, if you order a specific model level, that's what you get. Perhaps I'm missing something and it's possible to specify one of these cars to your own requirements.

    £50k for less range, less boot space, less performance than competition. How does that even make sense? I would be surprised if they sell these even in the thousands in UK. Unless they have the cars in stock and available to deliver immediately as opposed to the normal wait of 12months
    Model Y is only £5k more than this car has better range and access to tesla supercharger network.
    These EVs make bo sense for the pricing.

    I think the "major turning point" will be in the wrong direction! As the BZ4X is being recalled for issues with the wheels falling off!! Add to that issue the £50,000 starting price and I can't see too many people being thrilled to buy it. As well as that issue the Toyota charges up very slowly. Way worst than the current competition.

    Very simple solve the steering wheel issue you talking about see the Top wheel joint just cut it off . Wheel still be 3/4 complete and more than that Tesla yoke wheel . As said before I would wait till 2030 by then the Tech in batteries hopefully improved and more importantly the infer structure of charges will be in the 10K + nation wide . As unlike normal new cars the most important thing in electric cars it’s the batteries Tech .

      Toyota already have a yoke steering wheel for the bz4x but it is only available in Japan at the moment. It's way better than the Tesla yoke as the Toyota one has variable steering input with speed meaning you don't go arm over arm when parking.

    • @nidrinr
      @nidrinr 2 роки тому

      ...The BZ4X also has no glove box.. -But there are other differences. Not too many major differences though, but if I got things right both Subaru and Toyota have some different choice options and extras in different countries/areas. In Norway the sound systems are different, the ground clearance is a little higher on the Solterra (or maybe just measured from larger wheels than the BZ4X, I don't know), the solterra comes with an anti-rust treatment, which the Toyota lacks (This is an important matter in Norway, as all of the roads are salted half of the year.) Also, I was unable to find the digital mirror option for the Toyota, and obviously the cars look slightly different. Like twins wearing clothes that are not exactly the same...
      Others than that, you have to pick all of the extra offerings on the top level Toyota to get a lot of things that are standard in the Subaru.
      Either way, theese two cars are basically the same. If you want a less equipped, 2WD cheaper version, you have to go for the Toyota. If you want AWD and all of the luxurious extras, you will have to ask yourself if you want to buy a fully specked BZ4x or a Subaru.
      Personally, I like them both. It looks like they have managed to be serious about making an EV that actually are able to go off road, something you can't say all of the comparable EVs have managed to prioritize.

    Toyota doesn’t have a steering wheel . So the drive can see full 💯 dash . So you won’t be blocked so they got that perfect ..
    Subaru should have paid more attention to the public .. that’s only where they lacking they doing the right things .. but just those old folks doesn’t want to change to much .. you don’t have to change but when your going into a new market . Then stick to what Subaru is .. they come in with something no one else has and it perfect for Subaru
