i just worked on a 2003 ktm 250 exc. it was sitting for ten years and i opened the carb up and oh my god it was soo much cleaner than i expected and probilly would have started with a new spark plug. ethanol hasn't invaded the engine yet so it was very clean. hoping to get a new spark plug on there soon and get it going
Yo i know this is from a while ago, but i got myself into a 94 ktm 250sx, beautifully rebuilt but still got things to do, loved it for the 10 minutes ive rode it so far before the rear brake just stopped building any pressure

Yeah ktm does things backward like bmw does in my opinion. I got a 1982’ 495mx I’m restoring now that I got for $25 from some guy that had the rolling chassis sitting next to his house. Very enjoyable building but the price for parts is ridiculous
Jourdon Gulick its amazing one of the best bikes i have ever rode and luckily it doesnt need as much fixing up as the ktm scince the ktm is made for racing but the kx is made for all

What do you use to polish up the parts??
Usually a Scotch Brite pad.
By hand or what tool do you use?
Usually just by hand. Every once in a while I will break out the Dremel to polish some more intricate aluminum parts.
