Oh I see! So basically leave it broken.
Follow up- got your parts + the extra tools I ordered. The most challenging part was the LCD screen. I found heating up the lower-left corner and then using a razor blade helped to get the removal process started. I then used your plastic thin sheets and heat to remove the lcd screen it. One thing to mention, in addition to the black long antenna cable, I also had a white one. It's not in your instructions; however, it was not difficult to deal with. If others encounter this white cable, just take some photos of how it's installed before tearing things apart. Also when testing the fingerprint before finalizing and gluing it back together, you need to state the user has to hold how the microswitch on the back near the camera to do this test. Very pleased with the outcome. I think I will order a new battery before permanently sealing this up. CLEAN your lens and lens on the back plate before sealing. This guide and parts ROCK!
I dont think i would ever get my phone fixed like this. Mine needs a fingerprint sensor and i don't feel like ruining my waterproofing adhesive nor paying an exhorbitant ammount of money just because you literaly have to tear the whole thing apart to change just the fingerprint sensor...
Guess ill have to live with annoying on screen buttons.
Same
You don't need to take the screen off to get the fingerprint sensor replaced. Just remove the speakers and you can see the FPC.
Для замены отпечатка не нужно снимать экран!!!, кнопка меняется и так!
I've ordered parts. Looking forward to this repair. Thanks for the detailed instructions. Patience is the key.
How did it go?
@@tennisthelegend The repair went well. No issues. I also replaced the battery since I had the phone completely open.
@@Cyclingbrian did you need to remove the whole screen?
@@alvinlebon9368 Yes as the video shows @ around the 4 min mark. I know some have done this without removing the screen but I could not determine how this could be done without possibly introducing other problems.
Fixed my button and all works , good video. I skipped taking off the screen ... It's a bit of puzzle work but I could fit the button just fine.
How did you skip the screen removal??
Hello, good video, the fingerprint sensor is also for the normal p20
I noticed that you didn't put any glue around the perimeter of the back cover. Does that mean that it's no longer waterproof?
What material/glue/silicone do you recommend to glue the back cover back on?
Nice ty so much
It looks like reverse engineering the large hadron collider
Does this sensor in the link work on Huawei P20 pro CLT l09
Awesome.
Good video
Is it really a button or it is just a touch sensor? I am asking this because as a button it can broke in time but the touch is much more durable from my experience.
It's just a touch sensor.
I experienced the exact opposite... it took just 1 fall from 20cm height, on a rock and the sensor is gone. the same happened to a quadrillion old iphones and nothing happened... i was wearing a heavy duty case and a extra thicc glas foil, but this didnt helped the sensor much
At 1:06 what is the sticker with the number X 2667 8101 B0? Mine is peeling off from the left and it's brown underneath.
Where can I get the adhesive at 5:42?
Can you point me in the right direction on where to get the replacement adhesive from.
Their website. It's cheap
Where can I get a support frame sticker set? Can't seem to get one in the UK
Hi, check out the link to get it www.witrigs.com/witrigs-lcd-supporting-frame-sticker-for-huawei-p20-pro
Nice
Never give two linear adhesives under OLED. It is good was how broke it after some time by using phone...
You don't need to take the screen off to get the fingerprint sensor replaced. Just remove the speakers and you can see the FPC.
is there a small gap to fit in the flex cable ?
@@jeiciaa8347 yes
Lol so I broke my screen for no reason ????
Thanks for your advice.
Just to be sure:
Is it possible to remove the sensor from the back side? Can you pull out and re-install the sensor cable from the back side?
Thanks in advance!
@@nrbrtbnsYes, actually you may need to gently poke the sensor before you pull out from the back because there is some adhesive between the sensor and the screen.
If you tried poking but the sensor doesn't move, a heat gun or a hair dryer is your best friend.
I have learnt to live without the fingerprint sensor, no problem at all. After new update it is overheating like crazy draining my battery, Huawei wants to charge me because my screen has got a crack and I am refusing to pay anything for their poor policy. I was wondering whether I could just lift the lower part of the screen and somehow cut the connection between sensor and motherboard. Would that ef my device or could be a quick and cheap way around it? Would appreciate some help here!
My home button got a crack in it 3 months ago and I've learned to live without it too. However, much like you, after the recent update the home button now gets VERY hot and drains the battery quickly. I'm a bit worried about leaving it charging whilst I sleep incase it catches on fire. I'd like to disconnect it too, without having to do all the steps in the vid.
@@xnimmerx let's see if op or somebody else can help us, I just want to disconnect the sensor from its pin by lifting the front screen a few milimiters, I need some reassurance that nothing will damage the phone permanently
@@guidogalindo7814 Have you had any luck yet?
@@wojciechruszkowksi8800 no man, Huawei worst customer service ever. Device was sent to their repair centre under the promise they wouldn't charge me for the repair if they could prove the fingerprint sensor overheated. When they got it they said they couldn't find any problem with it and asked for £270 for repair.
I asked for my phone back and bought another phone for less money. Class A scammers Huawei as a company
How to fix proximity huawei p20ro,, Because when receiving a call the screen turns off, need your help
i am replacing display and it has just hole... it misses the metal frame plate you see in step 8, so now I wonder how do i remove it from the old display, it holds strongly
Did not manage to open my P20pro. Even after applying 90°C of heat over a couple of minutes I wasn't able to get a 0.4mm thin platic card between the backside and the frame. :(
You safe my ass. In Germany they want 299€ for repalacement, the say only with display change. Thank you
Does the change work without changing the display, only the fingerprint sensor? Where did you get the sensor?
True
Hey said the same here in South Africa. And the display is Expensive!

How is is possible exchange home button without removing display?
@@Lawryzax You can see the back of the IC, cable and fingerprint sensor when removing the speaker. It needs to be done carefully but it's possible to do without removing screen.
Thanks so much for this comment I was about to give up when I watched the video. Read this comment, so had a go and able to replace the sensor without removing the screen. Cheers!
Can pure alcohol damage phone?

yeah nah
first and last Huawei phone for me..
Show phone operation on the display in which you changed the sensor, not from the new display which is at 7:46 minute, the one from step 12 has factory foils, these are not original glues !!!
jerryRigEverything is that you?
no, better, and more experience. just compare how jerry just destroys every phone, and this dude here is just careful
Remove the motherboard!?!? Nope
