You don't sound bored, and your understanding of what other players may enjoy or struggle with is excellent.)
My gripes: - Exactly as Chris says, sometimes you just didn't know what you are supposed to be doing or looking for. I'm not talking about stopping the murders, that is always well laid out, but more about not knowing how to get access to certain areas in the mansion. So you start exploring every accessible area until you stumble upon a way. I personally don't think this is a good game design. - You are solving the 6 murders in certain order, which is fixed. If you decide to follow one guest instead of the one game wants you to, you will quickly discover something which prevents you from doing so. To me, this seemed completely unnecessary, since the story would remain the same, even if you solved those murders in different order. So I would welcome if I could solve the murders in the order I choose, which would add more variety and freedom of choice to the game. - The final section of the game was not very good imo. I'm not talking about the ending here, I loved the ending, but the section just before.. To me, it seemed like the game threw out what made it interesting and unique in exchange for what seemed like a generic moon logic puzzle game. - One very annoying sound which comes every time you used certain ability. What I liked: - the music, the soundtrack and the music. Oh and the soundtrack. - style, visuals and atmosphere - story Overall, I loved the game, it is definitely one of my top gaming experiences this year.
Yeah that puzzle just before the end was the worst one for me as well. It slowed the pace down far too much when I was ready to see the ending. It didn't spoil the experience, but it was the weakest part.
Best review of this game on youtube (and I watched them all). Only other one that comes close to it is TotalBiscuit's but I still prefer this one, because it is more detailed and points out more potential issues.
Wow, thanks! That's high praise indeed. I don't even play on PC much but I'm still a huge fan of TB. In fact, I'm genuinely listening to the Co-Optional Podcast as I type this! I'm glad TB did a video on this game because it genuinely deserves a big audience and I can't really do much about that.

I'm a curious why the story and ending didn't form a cohesive whole for you, while I felt otherwise. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the ending some time in all it's spoilery goodness! I was kind of disappointed that the game didn't end with having to figure out how to prevent all of the murders in one day since they were all spaced out enough that it seemed like it should be possible.
I worry this game is going to slip under the radar for many people when it deserves a lot of success. Maybe when it goes on sale it will get a second wind.
the reason behind she mask chasing mechanic..... spoiler alert...... do not read on if you haven't finished the game.... still here ? ok.... the player who is revealed to be lucas relives this memory over and over again as heavy guilt on his mind, therefor if he gets to come across a character he believes he's responsible of killing it is reasonable to assume that that character would hold a grudge against him, maybe seek revenge, hense the hostile nature of the mask chasing mechanic, it is very profound and symbolised by the fact that they are chasing you through their masks, reminiscent of reliving that pain by remembering or imagining their faces in agony , yet, when you stop the murder, the mechanic is halted for that brief moment before the day rewinds. symbolised by the character removing their masks, and lucas seeing the faces of who were once his friends untourmented by what happened, they are no longer hostile to lucas who has essentially redeemed himself by stopping them from dying.
Ehm if you have those power, you would still know the ending and solution to the puzzle... you know. for a new game you need no special power. just hit new game !
Eh, didn't like this one. Ended up dropping it. I think it was an issue with pacing. For some reason, I can play Nioh 1-2 for 8 hours straight without a problem but I couldn't take more than about 2 hours of this. Leaving shorter posts under these vids than under the Nioh vid because I've a life to live. ;D
