Thanks for taking and sharing the video. I was curious what this race is like Great job pacing your effort on the big climb. You have impressive fitness and power After the main climb, for all the rest of the race, you spent a LOT of time on the front pulling other people along, and many times pulling them all back to others who attacked. You appeared to be riding with a priority of helping the group you were riding with or pulling along a teammate who was directly behind you. There was a lot of traffic on certain sections of the road. I'd have been scared.
Thanks for the kind words! I had a plan beforehand to just ride up the climb at my own pace. I probably did spend too much time on the front as I actually had no teammates in this race. It is always hard for me to see people just ride away and not chase them. Something for me to learn as this is only the second race I ever did.
@@youptube8492it's no problem to chase some attacks. But there can be better ways to do it. In a group like that which wasn't working together, when you do want to respond to attacks, try doing it immediately and hard, to get on their wheel right away and hopefully follow them and get away from the group. (Since you usually responded by increasing your power gradually, you gave free rides to everyone behind you) And yeah when the climb started, and you were doing 500 watts, I was surprised to see so many guys riding away. IMO it was bad timing for them to do that. Better to do what you did
@BurgerTime7441 agreed, I am not very explosive right now. I definitely need to put more emphasis on that during training. And yep they rode away while I was doing 500 watts, but they are also probably 15 kg or more lighter than me so they probably didnt do nearly as much. They still seemed to blow themselves up though.
@@youptube8492 yeah.. it did seem like they were too excited and ran out of steam. I think, if they were trying to attack, they did it wrong. Usually it's better to increase power as you go up the hill,.. especially at the end *and* going over the top. That's when the gaps usually really open
Epic bro! Racing Chiang Mai at it best! Congratulations for being there with the monsters and conti guys!
