Whilst we lived in London, we only managed to see the bridge lifting like that only once. It was truly a sight to behold. Thank you so much for capturing it on video and sharing it with us. Love your channel, because I truly loved living in London. I have ten years of memories, and your channel always makes me go down memory lane which is always a treat, plus I learn new things that I never had a chance to discover when we were there.

I didn’t know there was a mortuary underneath the London Tower Bridge It’s very fascinating finding out about it

I was THERE (dead man's hole) in 1984 while exploring the Tower Bridge. Seems like yesterday... gettin' old(er). 😁

My office was in St Katharine’s Way (International House) and I read a history of the Tower in WW1 when German spies were executed in the rifle range by the curtain wall.
After death, they were taken to a mortuary that was situated on the right under the arch leading to the Tower.
At the time I was there, the mortuary had been turned into a food preparation area for a branch of Pret-a-Manger.

A mortuary used for good prep! I wonder what fillings were on offer? Many thanks for watching

Astounding that you potentially only need 24hrs to ask to be raised this awesome piece of engineering, and that the whole process of stopping traffic and letting the vessel through takes less than 5 minutes.
Mark, did James Bond or any other fictional character (or even a real figure) ever flee through the bridge while the bascules either blocked or came squeezing down on the heads of the pursuers? Magneto seeming to force them down?
4:18 Oh dear, sudden cartoon image of the bascules at 83 degrees as the Queen passes underneath in a small dinghy, rowed by her valet. Looking up she says " There's no need to make a fuss" or " Oh dear, I was trying to travel incognito".
Bit gruesome that the walkway under the road on the south side is lined with white tiling, then.

Thanks so much for watching! I don’t thing TB has been featured in a bond movie, however I do remember Westminster bridge featuring in a Daniel Craig bond movie. I’m surprised Tower Bridge hasn’t been used as it’s way more iconic than Westminster!

And we didn't get to see the workings.
    That was a poor show.
