Always pro’s & cons with any upgrade. Personally I run 2x FR76 for the regen, as I worked out that if you’re in combat for over 35 seconds you actually have way more shields than having a rampart. You could argue Rampart is good for burst damage, but besides the occasional s9 torpedo or missile spam, you don’t really encounter it. As a lot of other people said, the dps on Neutron is good, but Lancer isn’t good in close range - you can see in that video to you were only on target like 30% of the time so realistically the DPS is a fraction of what it should be. I usually run the Panther repeaters (2100 range?) or the Quarreler laser cannons (3500+ range and look amazing)
Cossack I have literally no idea, I’ve tried looking everywhere for some tangible stats on Attritions, but I can’t find anything. I know about a year ago they were nerfed, so DPS was slightly increased & the heat based bonus was removed due to a bug. As far as I know it’s never been put back? All the stats available at the moment only show the one dmg/dps, and nothing related to the increase in heat. So even if it is back in the game, there’s nothing on how hot they need to get / what additional damage it does. I can only guess it’s something they’ll update in the future..
I was drawn in by the neutron repeaters to begin with to but having to get that close became too risky. I switched to quad FL-33 laser cannons. It drops your dps by almost 600 but does more than triple your range which I found to be a more than acceptable trade as it drastically reduced the damage I take in exchange.
Exactly what I do for size 3 guns. Always use FL-33. The range of the repeaters are terrible which that issue is compounded by the fact that when you are so close to the target you need to be very maneuverable which the Freelancer struggles with. I also go with 2x FR-76. The regen for 2 of those will out regen almost any DPS you take on.
Why would you even upgrade off of the stock weapons? They're pretty ridiculous for being the default loadout (long range + high damage). The neutron repeaters seemed to be a downgrade for this ship since they required him to fight in-close where more nimble ships could out-strafe his turn rate all day. Could understand if you wanted to change to lasers to do away with ammo constraints but even then the ammo supply of the Tarrantulas last quite a while.
and when they take it away without warning (along with your 500k aUEC worth of upgrades to it)...That will suck. Though I suppose you could just de-equip all the upgrades when you log for the night.
I love the Freelancer. I feel like most people like the Cutlass more but the Freelancer is the superior ship. Much better guns, shields, and missile capabilities. It may have less maneuverability but makes up for it in firepower and survivability. Plus I personally have yet to struggle with its maneuverability.
totally unnecessary though, I mean all these missions are easy enough with the stock freelancer, done it a hundred times over. I don't know why he's struggling with it...
I was a die hard Cutty Black owner for years. I hated the Freelancer based off its looks alone. But Freelancer is a good ship and it's only going to become a better as the game play loops solidify. For example- food station; beds for entire crew (Cutty Black is 1 bed short), and a shower/toilet. Cutty Black hasn't peaked yet though, it still has tractor beam gameplay ahead. But I am currently using a MIS now as I wait for the MSR.
When a flying brick becomes the avatar of destruction... To me the main problem of neutron repeaters are the range, i am still using the Tarantula cannons, but maybe try the FL-33, ammo in clainjumpers is a pain.
I suspect that a military shield generator won't be a long term solution once the ships get locked into available component classes unfortunately. The base Freelancer has civilian components currently, and should by rights be able to equip industrial components, but military could be a stretch. Ah well. We can enjoy the wild configurations while we still have them.
lol. Love the optiimism of trying to take on a Hammerhead... Alas, 2x Size 3 shields... Given how regen works, even with stock shields you're needing to do an uninterrupted 4000 dps to make any headway. (and not much headway at that) Maybe with ballistics since those seem to skip shields to some extent... but energy weapons? Nope...
I have killed Hammerheads for Bounty missions few times with stock Andromedas. Ok they have S4 Lasers. But it works as Long the Hammerhead Shows to Long the same side.
I prefer the fl-33 on the freelancer. It has about triple the range and is really accurate. Looking at how your battle with the Valkyrie turned out, I think they are a lot more efficient. They might not do as much damage, but with the range, I can hit them earlier and longer and I don't recieve as much damage.
I so despise the Freelancer cockpit for combat, give me my Cutty any day of the week. I just wish I could upgrade the armor, add the additional missiles of the Blue to it and give it an interdiction system.
I think the Lancer feels so durable, in part, because she has relatively few shield holes. If the Connies didn't lose engines everytime you fart, they'd be a close second to the Lancer I think - even with the atrocious handling.
love the NDB-30. Wish they did size 4 though... Interesting you're cooler upgrade makes a difference. I went from twin bracers to twin ultraflow on my titan and it made absolutely no difference whatsoever.
Ballistic load out is much better. They generate little to no heat and can be overclocked as well.I can solo CS4 with my MIS with Ballistic repeaters overclocked.
I still don't like the view from the cockpit, but I admit that it has great potential. But I upgraded to a Constellation Andromeda and the claimjumper missions are that easy now ... 4x size 4 laser repeaters (gimbal) with a range of about 4000 m ... absolutely deadly. And finally 52 missiles on board ...
Great vid again! But i got some questions:): as you are using the weapons in centered lock position, cant you equip a weaponsize larger? I upgraded to the aspis shields and they almost never go down but i nevertheless take heavy damage e.g. an Avenger didnt even scratch the shields but came close to killing me...would like to know why...have a great day!:)
Not personally a massive fan of the neutrons in a freelancer as the short range means you have to get into much more dogfighting range where the freelancer’s turning ability is more an issue.
The freelancer is such a versatile ship and on paper I should love it as it fits my style...thing is I really cant stand the cockpit view so I dont fly mine :D

James Biggs are attritions still a good option or are there better?
the only time i would have rather had the rampart was when i ate a friendly size 5 in pirate swarm

the video no one asked for, but all secretly wanted =X thank you.
Freelancer has a lot of advantages, especially for new players on a budget as it's free for now.

Zoidberg voice: "we get it, you like the feelancer."
Thanks for the vid though, good info.
The freelancer is one of the best ships in game atm! Thanks for the quick tutorial. Keep up it coming!
since my loaner connie gets blown up almost immediately, I'm very happy that we have the workaround Lancer
And the neverending fight between cutty black and freelancer continues :D
Great video as always! LOVE my Freelancer
Finally, it’s good to see someone using the neutron repeaters. These things kick ass.
That was cool. Nice video Eradicator.
"Fighting a Hammerhead? Not scared." As he runs away. Lol. Good video!
The Freelancer is one of the most versatile ships in game.
can never go wrong with a freelancer. Great load-out!
I know how much the freelancer is capable of but I have a great NOP for her design. Outside this is really fun gratz
Nice little upgrade, adds a bit of piece of mind & reassurance for the pilot/passengers. ;)
totally unnecessary though, I mean all these missions are easy enough with the stock freelancer, done it a hundred times over. I don't know why he's struggling with it...
Very clever strategy with the shield generators.
I've enjoyed the freelancer spotlight thanks. I've got more to learn about optimal components though

I do hear a lot about the Freelancer ships good to see they have potential to grow
Really a great ship indeed a good daily runner

The freelancer has a lot of reasons why it is the standard for space trucking!! 😉😉👏
Nice component selection! FR-76 is one of my favorites
Thanks Eradicator
Surviving gets you richer, being a hero kills you (eventually).
I just did the same build and put maxox neutrons on it and overclocked them and they melted ships. Same exact build as mine good choice
Looks good.👍 I prefer laser repeaters.. I just seem to get faster kill times with them.
Very nice. I'll have to upgrade my loaner

Awesome gamefeature which hopefully becomes more intense
Really impressed lad, you have turned a bus into a fortress 👌
my only concern with the freelancer is its not super maneuverable so i would usually go for guns that have a longer effective range than the neutrons
Space truck now is Battle Bus!
I’ll need to give The Freelancer some more attention. It feels really tough to pilot so I have pretty much avoided it.
Thx very informative
Thanks for the video!
The freelancer is a good ship, but i find it isn't made for close combat. I believe it's best for long range to mid range combat
Good tips, thanks!
more amazing stuff. thanks!
Size 3 gatlings has been a buff replacement for some time now on the Lancer..even though you have to rearm....
nice vid. i did not realize you could run 2 different types of shields . need to change mine around. Wouldn't the xl1 be better then the crossfield?
nice gameplay and commentary
nice demonstration!
Just bought one yesterday...prepping for that loaner to vanish
I am going to try this definitely!

Sweet killing. Thanks for the vid
Holy cow that’s a tough ship you’ve got there
Well done
Sweet. Is there a list of where you can buy what components so I don't have to fly all over the verse looking for a shield?

@@Erad_Prime auch :)
Which guns would you go with for maximum range? I really prefer to stay as far away as possible?
for me that ship is one of the bests! i use it for making some mercenary missions :D
Hm. It’s risky to upgrade as bought components seems to bug out and don’t always persist, but I may try it, thanks for the video!
when you turn a boat into a warship xD
A truck into a tank... still being horrible to move.
Like Ernest Hemingway hunting German subs from a Cuban fishing boat.

That freelancer is Like a schoolbus with miniguns
that ship can be a beast
woop woop frig my idris
nice setup !!
very interesting.. you should do that with a Freelancer MAX!
Coolcore seems to get the job done
Upgrading makes many ships just so much more viable.

Interesting you're cooler upgrade makes a difference. I went from twin bracers to twin ultraflow on my titan and it made absolutely no difference whatsoever.

It's the space version of the AC-130 Gunship 😁
The two shield gens would be nice on the cutty blue. And somehow the lancer can have gimbled size 3 and the cutty blue cant...
i just love this game !
I took on a PvP hammerhead with my freelancer mis. Not a problem at all
Huh.. survive to fight another day is never bad.
wow, i didn't notice they have crypto keys there. I am going to have to do this with my freelancer.
Good ship. Tough. Got me out of a few scrapes.
That shield regeneration is rediculous
great vid, you should try the ship with 4x mantis GT-220's
Ballistics are not too good for shield damage, so bad for large ships, also ammo is costly 3kish after depeation.
Great vid again! But i got some questions:): as you are using the weapons in centered lock position, cant you equip a weaponsize larger?
