    it’s probably an unpopular opinion but i am in love with the e series. you’re able to get that fat, rich tone out of it, but also sounds so controlled and precise. very similar to sonny rollins sound imo.

      I can’t stand it and I know I am absolutely in the minority here and I deserve all the hate that I get because I want to love it. Trust me I absolutely want to love it but I can’t no matter how much I try I just cannot like it at all. It sounds so hollow to me and just very thin. Yeah I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. At the same time I wanna love it. Love it. Love it.

    Stuff like this is one of the reasons why I enjoy B-flat models more than E-flat ones. Nothing against the latter, but there is something extra warm about the tenor saxophone above the alto.

    That Jody Jazz is something else..... and, so is the price tag. Tough knowing how hard I work and how well I play and I will probably never have the disposable income for something like that. Too many kids and commitments on both sides of the pond! Very happy with my OL 7* and the TW ligature you recommended. And playing it on my Eastman 652. Pretty fine setup, and my Rico Royal 2.5's honed to perfection with another of your recommendations - the Reed Geek. Absolutely love that, too. 🌟

    I'm really impressed with the better sax mouthpiece. I think it offers the best value for money of the 4.
    I recently jammed with a friend who has a Theo Wanne Gaia 3 and I am amazed at the sound. They also have it in hard rubber, which sounded a tad darker. I'd get that too because of the projection and brightness if I had to compete with loud instruments.

    • @aljerones99
      @aljerones99 Рік тому

      By the way, Jay, I did inquire of you (months ago) whether the better sax mouthpiece was available in Canada and you replied indicating it was not. I was disappointed but I was able to purchase the WCW 56 from the Saxophone Academy and it's also very good. I liked it so much that I got one for my tenor, alto and soprano. They are now my default mouthpieces on all three saxes.
      My quest for great back-up pieces continues.
      If the burnin' mouthpiece is finally available in Canada I might consider purchasing it.

    I have all these pieces in 7* except the BSS (which I don't intend to get). The Burnin' is such a joy to play! One word for it: versatile. The HH is just like ice cream and butter mixed together. I prefer the Platinum silver ligature on it to the HH lig. The platinum makes it more vibrant and hold the reed in the precise spot where I want it. The Lakshmi I sprang for because of 15% discount I got from WWBW and because of the online vibe. I initially found it to be a tiny bit resistant but its great and I can easily mold to it. The feel of the HH is in a world of its own which no other mouthpiece in my collection can duplicate. I am so much in love with the Burnin that I intend to get a backup 7*. That says how much I don't ever want to miss it. I can live the rest of my life on Burnin' and be sure it will always deliver either during my private practice or during live gig.

    The Lakshmi and JJ hand-hammered just jump right out even through the phone speaker. They really fill out the mids so nicely with overtones and detail. I liked the Boston Sax one too, it’s got that late 50s authoritative clout to the syllables, if you will. The Burning seems kind of like a jack of all trades. Nothing wrong with it, it just didn’t hit me the same way those other three did.

    That's a difficult question to answer. The differences between each mp is striking. According to the setting, music being played, and sax bring played, each has it's own place. The Better Sax is overall better rounded. Second mp is markedly brighter, third is darkest, and the hand hammered has the most mellow sound of the 4.
