  • The video explains how the pavement cross slope changes throughout a horizontal curve to make the transition from normal crown to design superelevation.
The combination of horizontal and cross-sectional elements onto one image can be difficult to understand and interpret. In this video, I break down the key points of a horizontal curve and explain how and when the slope of the roadway changes to obtain the necessary cross slopes. Step-by-step, both the outside and inside edge of pavement elevations (relative to the centerline) are described.

Your video is perfect. I was reading the AASHTO and I had problem trying to understand the not well written definitions of runoff and runout, also my main language is Spanish so that doesn't help too much jeje. But your video help me understand completely that definition terms ✌ awesome

Thank you for clear explanation, Sir. But I still feel confused about the distance between beginning of full super and end of full super. If the length of distance that I mentioned previous is short, can it impact on road safety.

You're exactly correct! The rate of change is specified by AASHTO and is referred to as the maximum relative gradient and the distance is known as the superelevation runoff (from full superelevation to adverse crown removed and is also provided by AASHTO).

    Hello, Sir
Please help me to answer this problem
    1. Given plan, profile and normal section of an highway
between points A and B with radius of 500m and design
speed is 90km/h. Superelevation will be applied by
    rotation around Centre
    -line. calculate:
    1) Maximum superelevation
    2) Km.s of the start and end points of transition
    lengths.
    3) Draw the rotation diagram near PC. On the diagram
show Km.s and elevation differences of all critical
    points.
    4) Find the elevations of the outer
    -edge, centre
    -line,
    and inner
-edge of the highway at the following
    KM.s: 1+000.00, 1+081.23, 1+085.00, 1+110.00,
    1+1200.00, 1+320.00, 1+350.00, 1+400.0
