Just changed my Tiger’s tyres to Avon’s new trailrider and they’ve transformed the handling for the better . They look more off-road focused than the OEM rubber but handle the roads so much better. Made in the U.K. too!
I’ve had them for 4000km on my F800GS and I’m loving them! Heat up nicely, work well on wet and I’ve even scraped pegs on mountain roads. Awesome tires! That 10% off-road is very relative, as you say
Thanks! When you come back with a follow up I'd appreciate an opinion on how they smight be for a T120 (or any Bonneville varient) in all-round conditions of highway, city and gravel secondary roads. Planning a trip from Anchoarage AK to Boise ID so I'll have about 2,000 miles of paved secondary and about 800 miles of gravel. There's always another 100 or so miles cumulative of road construction/repair work which throws in mud and dirt. I think you have a lot of Bonneville followers so its probably not just for me.
The only problem with these tyres would be the available rim sizes. At the moment they are only available for 17, 19 and 21 inch wheels. For something similar to fit the Bonnies 18 inch front wheel, i'd recommend the Pirelli Scorpion Trail II. I had them on my Street Twin and loved them
There are loads of great tyres to choose from. The trail riders seem a touch more aggressive and were similar to the Bridgestones that came off it. A good choice though
Looking forward to the long term update. The Trail Attack 2's have performed the best of any tires I've tried on my R1150GS and I'm hoping the 3's are at least as good.
Next week I'll put them on 1200 GS after third set metzeller tourance on the different enduros (%80-%20) and I'm still curious and exited about TA3's slight off-road performance.
I'm thinking of replacing the Michelin Pilot Road 4 GT tyres fitted on my 2008 Triumph Tiger 1050 with these when the time comes, I guess I'm also in the 90/10 road/gravel situation. I'm not looking for advanced off-road adventures, just being able to explore hard gravel roads with a little more confidence than today. Thank you for your review!
@@mancavemoto Thanks for your great reviews, always a pleasure to watch! Would love your input here as well. Just about to change tires on my slightly modified and stripped Bonneville -02. Knowing you used CRA3, CTA3 and Scorpion Trail 2, how would you rank the wet grip performance between them? Secondly any off-road experience yet on the CRA3 yet? Since doing 95/5 I would still think having a tire that wouldn't stop me from taking a small trail on rare occasions is preferred. Out curiosity my last top contender is the Avon Trailrider, anything you heard about these making you rule them out for your choice? Many thanks! :)
Hi I have a question. The trail attack is only available in 19inch and 17inch in size. I was wondering for my Street Twin would it be OK to mix the Road Attack and Trail attack together? Road attack for the front (18inch) and trail attack for the rear (17inch)? you're opinion would be most appreciated, cheers.
Good Question, the 18 inch front wheel on the Street Twin does make it tricky finding tyres. I'm not a fan of mixing tyres, so i'm not sure what it would be like. I'd either go Road attack for both, or Pirelli Scorpion Trail II if you want something more dual sport?
Apologies for video off topic, it sees as though that after market exhaust system did not work out. Only saying this due to never saw a follow up after the install. And again apologies if I assume wrong.
There will be a follow up. In reality, the eissue was that I fitted it at the start of winter, so not the ideal time to be making a 500 mile round trip on the bike to visit their dyno.
Great post, thanks,, You are now 2+ years in with these tires.. how are they holding up? or how did they last? handle as they wore , any regrets etc...?
Is it weird that these are are called the "trail attack" when by all accounts they are designed almost exclusively for street use? Was this line of tire originally for off-roading and then shifted over time to road design? I just got them on my Kawasaki W800 and am excited to put them to use.
They were designed predominantly for big adventure bikes that spend most time on road, but will occasionally venture on gravel and fire roads etc. Continental obviously have the TKC80, TKC70 and escape for pure offroad use. They are similar to the Roadattack but offer a deeper cut and wider cut tread to handle light off road
It was there because the video was released during the first National Corona Virus lockdown here in the UK. There was quite a lot of grief and finger pointing going on from people who thought others were breaking the lock down. That was just there to keep people quiet as the on bike footage was shot before the pandemic. Cheers
@@mancavemoto Oh, cheers, sorry for sounding like a dick. It's insane. You WERE allowed to ride tho, right? No one banned that anywhere in EU AFAIK. We had some local restrictions considering how far from home you can go, but that's about it.

I hear good things about them
Glad they are serving you well so far, will be great to get them back out when you can! 😀
As like everyone I’m just itching to get out there. The fact that it’s the best spring weather we’ve had in years isn’t helping

Thanks for the review, thumbs up. Looking to replace my O.E. tires with these. Great review :)
Glad I could help!
That's a lovely trip! Don't give up on it yet for 2020 - perhaps it can still happen in the autumn.
Its been in planning for a while and will be special as it traces my fathers footsteps during WWII. Lets just see how this whole situation pans out.
Avon Trailriders, absolutely fabulous tyre for the Tiger, very confident tyre, made in UK and a good price.

I’ve not had a chance to try them too far off the tarmac yet
thk you just what I needed to place order for my bike
No problem
How about an update on the Conti Road Attacks on the ST?
I don’t own the ST any longer, so unfortunately I can’t do that.
Nice review. My Trail Attack 2’s are still on my bike after 8,000 miles of traveling. :)
Cheers, only a quick one. I'm hoping they will do me well

Well, either these or the Pirelli Scorpion Trail II, they are price very similarly here in Sweden. Any thoughts on this? :-)
Either would be good. I would say the Pirellis would maybe take you a little further off road. But there is not much in it

Finally need new tyres for the Tiger and I can't get these in the UK for my 90/90/V21 front....I'm gutted
Give Cambrian Tyres a call, they are the UK distributor and may be able to find one for you?
@@mancavemoto You're the gift that keeps on giving. Subscriber for life dude
Just bought them for my 1250gsa. Cant wait to test them.
Hope you enjoy!
Morning, just fitted a new pair of trail attack 3 tyres on my tiger 900. Did you find them any noisier than the standard Bridgestone tyres?
I didn't no
How about Noise, i get a lot from my current Bridgestones
thnk you
No they were very quiet
@@mancavemoto by the way which size did you use for the front 100 or 110?

Great Video, I'm thinking the TKC 70's for my KTM 790 adv r.
I may give them a try when these are done and dusted
I’m using the Scorpion STR on the 790 adv r and I’m also considering the tkc 70 rocks and the anakee adv next.
Greetings from Portugal.
One quick question if I may, did they started to square? Do they still look confident when turning?
Good info thank you sir 👍
no problem

For beginners with an adventure bike they also work very well on a race track.
Yes I imagine they will
They look good. If that matters. They sound like they turn in well. TWO minutes Tuesday?
It was the extended version ;)
anyone used metzeler roasted 01?
Roasted? 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Great video thanks, need new rubber for my Africa twin, these fit the bill. What helmet are you wearing?
Cheers, in which part, the clips show me wearing a Nexx X.wed2, Shoei RYD and an Arai Rapide!
Nice
Thanks

Yep, I thought I'd add that before the keyboard warriors got stuck in!
Why do we need the "* ARCHIVE VIDEO" note? Why bother with that? It's like writing "This is B-ROLL". LOL. Great video otherwise.
