There's a video somewhere on here showing his vocal cords and how he is able to do that, the one I feel sorry for is his understudy, imagine going onstage and giving it your best but you know you literally can't sing like him
When he first got the role as Beetlejuice, he had to take professional voice lessons to learn how to sing like this without damaging his vocal chords. That's how he can do this 8 times a week (:
He has something where instead of that tickling his throat it is easy as breathing, I have the same thing and after seeing the musical it was hard to not do the voice at random times
They had to change "Say My Name" because in this version Lydia says nothing between guessing Beetlejuice name and the tease meaning she says Beetlejuice three times in a row saying nothing in between before saying Because.
I think she enjoyed doing the show up until the last few months of her Broadway run, she had been doing it for several years at that point so I kind of get if she wasn’t as into it as she had been before

She started missing a lot of shows the last few months, but started to be absent from promotional events of the show since the summer. It's a shame how her run with the show ended, she was fantastic as Lydia when I saw her. I feel like doing the role for more than 2 years might have taken a toll on her voice, it seems her voice sounds more and more strained towards the end of her run.

I've seen lots of people point out how she had been with Beetlejuice since the workshop and how she could have gotten fed up with playing Lydia for so long. Or maybe it took a toll on her because broadway is a full time job and she was in the public eye at such a young age. Or like you said, it could have taken a toll on her voice. It's clear that whatever happened, she left fast and short notice. I don't like the rumors about her because they're such an attack on her character, especially the one's where people say she did weed in between performances. But even if she did "act out", I wouldn't even blame her because broadway is ROUGH. You're doing the same 2.5 hour performance over and over and over again and my god that would drive me insane. I don't believe the weed rumors as that's insane and she probably would have been fired instantly for it but I definitely believe the unprofessionalism with her missing shows and perhaps turning up late etc. She probably got sick of it and stopped wanting to do it come the end which I don't blame her for.
@@NobodyUndefined when I was her age, I didn’t have the tools to take responsibility for my actions and confront people to say, actually I’m fed up of this I want to quit. I just avoided responsibility and lurked in the corner. So I get it.
@@TigerPrawn_ I definitely agree, I think she was tired of broadway and wanted an out. She's done interviews discussing her mental health before so it's clear she was struggling. There was no send off either and her announcement that she left on social media was vague so I think they let her go before she had a chance to do a final performance, so they didn't know it was her last when she did it. None of her castmates sent her a farewell message on social media and it could be because they knew she was struggling and wanted to disassociate herself from Beetlejuice. Or it could be she was getting ill or getting anxiety, she did throw up during home that one time. You truly don't know what happened and she seems like such a genuine person so it upsets me to see people paint her in such a bad light.

Some actors are only in the workshop processes of a show for a variety of reasons. A lot of the times people are brought in specifically just for the workshop so the producers can get the work up and running, so they usually hire people in the business or people that they know to do readings of new musicals. Kyle may have planned to stay with the show until Broadway, but had other projects come up before the transfer. So who really knows lol?
When you're in practice you usually don't put as much energy as in a real representation. It's normal that she doesn't sound super energetic, plus she litteraly plays Lydia Deetz bro. (Also it was the beginning so they probably asked her about changing some trait about the character after that).
It really is interesting hearing what they kept and changed

From what Alex said, his voice just naturally does that. It's actually easier for him to sing with that gravelly voice than his real singing voice!

It is mostly part of his natural voice but to try to impersonate him you can use what is called "false fold phonation" it is wierd but it exists
