I think along the lines of the story the video's telling, he really does care, but as he's emotionally constipated, he doesn't know how to show it. So he's an asshole to try to stop Izuku from getting hurt. He may hate him, but it's better than being dead. That's just my opinion on the matter, and I kinda like to think he's that way in show anyway.
