    you could swap the milk powder for semolina and you would make an extra saving. and of course get a cheaper flavour than mainline. Also if you bought your ingredients in bulk and not from supermarket you could get the cost of this down to about 3.50 a kilo. great vid mate , enjoyed it

    Gotta question for you from America.... Can you tell me what your "Shellfish" oil smells like? I ask because here in the US our cold pressed shellfish oil has an EXTREME smell of canned sweetcorn. I have no idea of what the actual crustacean is that's used to make our shellfish oil. I was just curious what yours was like......Thanks Sid and I liked the video bud.

    • @ChunkySidFix
      @ChunkySidFix  5 років тому +1

      Best way i can describe it is like a fishy salty smell the kinda fish smell that will make ur face scrunch up 😂 not sure how to other to discribe it haha kinds how the rocks smell at the beach if you smelled rocks? In like a beach rock pool but magnified by 10 not really a hint of corn at all ?

    • @ChunkySidFix
      @ChunkySidFix  5 років тому +1

      The only other thing i can imagine if your getting a corn smell is that its preserved in corn oil/syrup what im using here is basicly pure extract of shellfish more than oil based

    • @Hogwylderr
      @Hogwylderr 5 років тому

      @@ChunkySidFix That's a pretty good description actually, thanks Sid. I honestly don't know why our Shellfish oil smells the way it does. I do know that it's like that across the board. Meaning no matter what supplier I get it from, it always smells like canned sweet corn. Don't get me wrong, that fishy odor is there but yeah, not nearly as much as the corn. The corn oil might be what it is. I mean, I personally don't know of a crustacean that smells like corn.

    • @ChunkySidFix
      @ChunkySidFix  5 років тому

      @@Hogwylderr it might be worth importing some Mainline shellfish like im using in the video off Ebay? or see if theirs somewhere in american that you can get hold of it , here in the UK mainline is one of biggest carp fishing/match fishing brands doing everything from boilies pellet flavours etc

    • @ChunkySidFix

      Where would i add the additives and what measurements would you recommend

    • @ChunkySidFix
      @ChunkySidFix  4 роки тому +2

      If its liquid form add it to the eggs , if its powder form add it to base mix , flavourings 10-20ml per kg depending on how strong that flavouring is , for example almond you literally only need a few drops but a orange flavour you would need a decent 20ml , if u going to use asda/tesco cake flavours id recomend the full 30ml bottle per kilo as there quite weak . As for powders u want to make sure the bulk is binders so good 60% semolina/maize whatever you using then split the remaining 40% into you powder additives i.e if u have 2 20% of each additives or another way to look at it is to break it down into 1000g grams for example 600g binders 400g additives ( for 2 200g of one 200g for the other) hope that helps

    ChunkySid mate WTF!!!! Scale down your mixes to 100 grams and be very specific with your liquids when measuring them out, use a syringe. Add a little at a time keeping a note of how many millilitres you have added till you have a perfect consistency. E.g 100 gram mix requires 60ml of liquid egg/flavourings now roll out and make sure mix not too wet or dry if it is adjust this 100 gram mix till rolls without sticking or falling apart. All you have to do now is be 100% accurate when multiplying by 10 to get your 1KG mix. E.g 1000 gram dry mix and 600ml of liquids. This will save you the mess and aggro you make adjusting 1kg of mix and the struggle you had rolling. should not ever need to add flour to the rolling tray your mix was just too sticky. Did enjoy your message though keep it up.

    • @ChunkySidFix
      @ChunkySidFix  3 роки тому

      thats fine bud, however , this was a basic guide on getting people started. not a over complicated basemix which would cause confusion , sure if people like making boilies then im sure they will research into it in more. and learn more of the compilated mixes , this video was just for beginning and how simple it can be. also my rolling board is real old so the non stick side has well gone so adding some of the basemix / corn flour helps in my case , doesn't really hurt the process. you sound like you have a fair bit of experience with rolling so im sure you will understand just how complex it can become.

    • @ChunkySidFix
      @ChunkySidFix  3 роки тому

      also , 100 grams is fine , but personally i make 5-10kg a time , so i dont really need that small scale , nor do i dabble in pop ups for 100 grams , with a bit of basic math im sure people can work out what 10% of 1 kg is.

Like you I like to share my knowledge hints and tips to get people started which is why I enjoyed your video. I wasn't criticising your efforts I'm just OCD when it comes to this topic. I also get it that you make larger batches. When making a new recipe I mix 100g of chosen ingredients then add liquids with a syringe till perfect consistency then if it rolls perfectly I multiply all ingredients by 10 put it in my recepie book for every future batch I cook up.
