Kobra 2 is way better in print quality, speed, auto z-offset, and overall build quality. While it doesn't have a 300°C nozzle like the Neptune 4, its suitability depends on how often you will use it to print PC or PA-CF. I would rather get the better quality machine (the Kobra 2 Pro) if I just print PLA PETG TPU ABS ASA Nylon 99% of the time.
@AuroraTech Thanks for the response. I'm surprised it could that much better. The feature I like on this K2P is the auto z height. That setting getting dialed in what prevents me from using my V2 neo over my other printers.
@@AuroraTech What about reliability? Many owners of regular kobra 2 have commented that the extruder and auto bed leveling sensor were unreliable. Did they improve something in the pro version?
She really does, the other guys are too busy trying to be cool or funny with either gun printing or helmet printing. I always end up back at this channel.
Didn't expect to find the NileRed of 3D printing while looking for a printer to supersede my aging i3 Mega. Extremely well documented, clear narration, examples of common hurdles, and extensive comparisons. Thanks for helping me pick my next printer!
The quality of your reviews is gone "next level". You give us a lot of very useful information and best of all, you give us many material prints as well as comparison prints. Stoked. I could imagine that you could change the start-up G-code to wipe the nozzle. I like that function a lot. Thank you Aurora and Helios, great work. Keep it up...
No, we don't have access to the printer.cfg or SSH, so there's no way to move the print head to the wiping block, which is located outside the maximum Y position.
Love your great reviews. Definitely the best in the business. I'm particularly grateful to see all the different filaments tested, particularly TPU which I use often. I was surprised to see TPU print so well through the reverse Bowden tube from the spool to the left of the machine. I always hang TPU spools above and feed the filament directly into the extruder. It's frustrating to see all of these 3D printer manufacturers making the same mistakes that mar these otherwise excellent printers - no WiFi, a Volcano style nozzle that isn't compatible with the readily available Volcano nozzles to force us to buy a proprietary part, and trying to force us to use their cloud service (I'll NEVER do that) rather than using the excellent LAN features of Klipper. I was preparing to order the Elegoo Neptune 4 Pro when I saw this review of the Anycubic Kobra 2 Pro. If this printer allowed me to use Klipper over WiFi, I'd have bought it instead of the Neptune 4 Pro.
Unfortunately I had issues with buying from Anycubic's shop. Even though I was paying with PayPal my home bank detected suspicious transactions. Some things were so wrong between bank, PayPal and Anycubic's shop that my card was blocked automatically by my bank. Anycubic's support wasnt quite interested to investigate this and I ordered a new credit card. I am considering buying Two Trees SK1 instead.
Thank you for your good reviews miss Aurora. Very professional indeed imo, honest and true reviews are rare today. you remind me of project farm reviews. I would like to see charts of comparisons in the future. Good stuff this.
You can actually swap a all metal heatbreak intended for the anycubic vyper toolhead into the cobra 2. First gives you a raised temperature limit and you can now use regular volcano nozzles
Interesting. Did you try? I am curious, because I want to use bigger nozzles (0.8mm), and those are not available in this shape yet. I have modified my old i3 Mega S with an E3D Volcano Hotend and I love it. Espacially quality-wise it was a big improvement. The original Anycubic nozzles were no good.
Such a great review I bought a Kobra 2 Pro this morning. Looks like a great printer. I already have a Vyper, Kobra, Kobra go, kobra neo, kobra max and a Kobra 2 from the anycubic range. Very well done review as always. Thank you for all the details and pros/cons section. Just pulled the trigger on this one as I wanted a fast bed slinger and the price this holidays was to good to pass up! FYI to anyone else is make sure you check for discount codes before you commit to the purchase. Saved another 20.00. Also a free roll of high speed PLA thrown in! Thank you Aurora!!!
Great review as always!!Let me say that that is an award winning extruder-hotend combo, by looking at the close-ups of the nozzle laying plastic at those speeds, you can tell this thing is well tuned to take advantage of klipper speeds without being limited by a poor volumetric flow. I wonder how much volumetric flow this machine can handle in vase mode so...Aurora: would you please consider to add just one more quick test for your upcoming reviews? A print that gradually starts to increase volumetric flow until starts to underextrude. Orca slicer has a volumetric flow test that does something like that. CHeers!
Theoretically 500x0.2x0.4 = 40 mm³/s ... I think the Volcano Hotend can do around 30 mm³/s (at least what I could realize)... But I thinks the limiting factor will be your Filament. Generic PLA probably cannot be process this fast in acceptable quality. Unterextrusion will occur. There is High Speed Filament available already. And as you can see in the review: TPU is still limited to 80 mm/s... Maybe there will be some high speed TPU as well one day :)
OH MY GOD THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE CONFIG file. i was pulling my hair out after updatting the new firmware now it is looking so good. it works so well.
I love your reviews, especially how you go in depth on the different materials and the consistence across reviews of different printers. I would really love to see a review of the Neptune 4 pro and maybe some comparison, as these two printer seem to have a lot in common, at least from the spec sheets.
Thanks so much for all your great reviews. You are the best reviewer on youtube. your not just printing a benchy. Very in depth with specs and printing different filaments. i purchased this printer.
Having owned the OG Kobra this is some great upgrades. Though like you mentioned in the cons it's soo close to being the budget bedslinger to beat held back from a couple of odd/bad decisions. Just let us use standard volcano nozzles with a regular wi-fi integration. So, so close... Maybe the Kobra 3 🙃
Gutes Review wie von Dir gewohnt. Mach weiter so. P. S. : ich habe herzlich gelacht über Deine Patzer. Macht Dich aber sehr sympathisch. Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland
The best review of this printer so far. You went into the right details most users care about. Loved the compairisons of all the other high speed printers. You got a new follower out of me. A side note maybe worth looking into on your next review.... another reviewer printed at 0.04 height with amazing results. Something to think about or maybe its not worth your time. Thanks for the honest reviews and looking forward to more
I bought the Kobra 2 pro because of this review and the printer doesn't disappoint at least not for me. I have an ender 3 v2 that took over 26 hours to print a collapsible katana The Kobra 2 pro printed it in 3h59m41s at really good print quality, I am super impressed so far. The only thing that might be an issue for some is how loud it is but for me the trade off is well worth it. Anycubic knocked it out of the park on this printer. Would I buy it again? yes I would buy many if I could afford to.
I bought the Kobra 2 on your recommendation. I’m supremely happy with a fast Marlin machine. If they provide you with a discount I will buy this machine as well. Anycubic is really an impressive company for supporting you. I hope they will adopt your excellent suggestions.
@@AuroraTech thank you for that information. I’ll check into updating the firmware tomorrow morning. The Voxel filament I bought on your recommendation is also working great! Excellent review. Your recent studio upgrades are making your videos look fantastic!
I had much more issues with the new firmware on my kobra 2 I've only lately managed to get it sorted and dialled in to a useable condition, however sometimes it still fails and has glitches
The only profound review of the Kobra 2 so far! Great job! Thanks for clarifying the non-existing options with regard to klipper and the non-original volcano nozzle. I still hope that ANYCUBIC will release some firmeware updates that enable the full potential of Klipper and I would be very fond of different nozzle sizes. With this speed you actually don't need bigger nozzles, but some filaments and some objects look really cool when printed with 0.8 or 1.0 mm nozzles (e.g. transparent PETG). For me it looks like Anycubic was unter pressure with the release of this printer series. Probably to keep up with Crealty and Neptune launches. However, the full functionality has not been developed yet... So lets hope that they will bring some really cool features in the near future. Have ordered a Kobra 2 Plus. Fingers crossed.
I picked up one of these the other day, it seems to work quite nicely, with a couple caveats... One, the auto-level is not perfect. It consistently sets the Z-axis about .2 mm too low, resulting in the nozzle dragging the bed. This seems to be an issue with a lot of printers. Also, the bed seems slightly off, one side is high. I may use some tape to correct that. The other thing I don't like is the placement of the spool holder, it places undue strain on the filament where it enters the filament detector, the angle is wrong. I'm currently feedng it from a dryer reel, but I'll likely engineer a new spool holder that is positioned better. I don't like the filament having to make a sharp bend like that, it's already broken twice. Also, there's no light, so I used a clamp-on one. Speed is excellent on this machine. Pretty noisy, though.
That is a great review. I would love to see you review fast printers like the Kobra 2 pro at reduced speeds as well, to see if the quality of a Prusa MK4 can be matched. 3h10m is crazy fast for the Alpaca, so how would it look if you gave it another hour or even two? Occasionally quality comes before speed :)
Too bad about forcing cloud services... I'm on the hunt for a small (Ender size) printer for small prints but I refuse to use any cloud service. I'm too used to using either Octoprint or Mainsail to ever go back. Thanks for the great review!
@@wolfie54321 I'm in the same camp too, but unless I misunderstood the review, the only option for this printer is to use their cloud service. Now if they update their firmware to otherwise then this one might be the one I'll buy, but I'm not holding my breath on them (Anycubic) changing it.
@@larry527az3 My understanding is that if you just want to use the machine as-is then you don't need to use the cloud, but you can't bring up a Klipper interface without the cloud.
Sooo much cool stuff coming out this holiday season… I am extremely interested to see if you can get the Kobra Max 2 pro review done before the presale ends. The size and speed updates really speak to my heart at sub$500. ❤ Thank you for your hard work.
I've seen people reporting issues with printing at higher temperatures than 230C because teflon tube in hot end melts at about 240C and starts clogging the nozzle. So it may require replacement for PETG/ABS printing. For PLA printing this printer can work as is.
I've had an Ender 3 S1 Plus for just over two weeks now. 1 successful print. Throwing it in the garage. I'll sell it to you... Just ordered a Kobra 2 Plus. Hope it performs as well.
Great review as always. You're right about cloud services...they are bad news 100% of the time, as they make your home network far less secure and hand over any IP you have to whomever is running the cloud. The convenience of just hitting a button on your computer is strong, but I'd rather walk the SD card or USB drive over to the printer myself anyway. One thing: was it just me or did the corners of that nylon card wallet look kinda bad, even after printing out of the filament dryer? Just seemed like it was overextruding to me, the way material was curling up above the level of the nozzle. Actually, a second thing: I'm getting more and more upset by printer manufacturers releasing their own proprietary nozzles. I get that they want to drive consumables sales after the initial purchase, but all this does is make it less convenient for users to install and even find replacement parts. While the printer seems fine enough on its own, I sincerely hope that buyers of the printer will soon have ready access to aftermarket modifications to allow for the use of standard Volcano nozzles.
I dont understand how a bedslinger can be quicker with similar quality as a bambu or k1. I recently got a k1 to upgrade from my e3v2, creality is opening up source code this month so no doubt the k1 will come up levels. Klipper must be tuned exceptionally well out the box for this thing, impressive.
Aurora, as usual a great review. Doubtful if I’ll be getting a new printer for quite a while. But I would consider this one if they get rid of the cloud. Why do so many companies want to force us to use their cloud? Now the important part: Winter’s coming on. Time for you to get that garage heater or a really good parka.
Thank you for your review of the printer, which are really great, especially also consistent to the comparison to other printers you have already tested. Is there a comparison to the Elegoo neptune 4/4pro printer, especially the print quality, since it is in the same price range?
I got it when the price dropped below $130, and the KP3S, which I thought had problems, works fine. Of course, I know the Kobra 2 Pro is superior in every way, but I'm debating whether I should just stick with the KP3S, which is smaller, quieter, and takes up less space. The KP3S is smaller, slower, but prints really well. I'm debating whether I should return the pro, since I originally planned to buy a larger bed printer at the same time.
Bravo. Prenez soins de vous. Cordialement.
Couldn't you just change the heat break for one that will work with volcano nozzles? That would also allow hotter temp printing if you bought the right one and a different thermistor. I believe it is much easier to change the max temp in klipper.
I expected this to be way noisier and less smooth with these steel wheels. It turned out to work very well, which brings the question why don't more manufacturers use them instead of these pom wheels? Won't these steel ones wear out the rails they're moving on over time?
Would be interested to see if the quality improves when using the printer at a lower speed. Basically, if it were slowed down so that benchmark alpaca took 4 hours like the P1P, would quality be comparable to the P1P?
I'm curious about the fidget cube. You mentioned, this time, you needed some bending to move smoothly. I assume you mean that on some machines it works perfect right of the bed? ( I have tried this model a lot of times and it's getting better and better but I am yet to get the "hinge" that you see in the middle at minute 10:07 to work smoothly. )
USBs are nice upgrade, but as a kobra 2 owner I don't use speed above 150 and if I want it as best as possible I go to 80mm. Maybe with input shaping 300mm could be realistic. Screen does look a lot better too. Hate that I cant get different nozzles or hardened nozzles but I think for basically the same price as the kobra 2 this competes with the neptune 4. a slightly larger bed model would have been a nice feature as well but again for the price they are reusing the same platform.
Yes, the Kobra 2 Pro is on my recommendation list, which currently includes only 8 out of the 100+ 3D printers we have tested. Please check out auroratechchannel.com
Thank you for the Review. It helped me decide what to purchase. One questions if I may. With the Anycubic Kobra 2 you leased some Prusa profiles for PETG, TPU etc. Could you do the same for this printer please?
Great video as always. I wonder if a TPU retraction test would be a good thing to add your test. Thanks to sharing your experience with All of us 👍 😀 experience
A bit late to this video but, if you are still reading the comments - the Kobra 2 Pro or the Sovol sv07? The Sovol is a bit cheaper, and has open Klipper, but this appears to be better built so I'm a bit torn as to which to go for.
What do you think allows this to print at good quality faster than the other klipper bedslingers? Is it a better specific hardware component? Better overall quality control of equal hardware? Better firmware integration/tuning?
I think all of these play an important role in terms of print quality and speed: 1. The motion system 2. Firmware tuning (input shaper calibration, bed leveling, auto z-offset) 3. A strong extruder and hotend 4. Part cooling
@@AuroraTech With all these new budget klipper bedslingers it would be interesting to see a comparison with setting the printers to the same speed and acceleration values and finding how much each manufacturer pushed the limits.
Great review. Content of your video is too good. We have so many great entry level options now so I think you should create a video for best entry level printer. Also a review of Neptune 4 / 4 Pro is due. Any ways great job.
I have to cancel the Neptune 4 Pro review as there are some issues with the machine. But they said those issues will be fixed in the large batch production, but my schedule for the rest of the year is full and may have no time to test it out again, maybe I will try the Plus and Max, let's see.
Hi Aurora. Do you know if All Kobra 2 Series runs Klipper? I am in the marker for a Kobra 2 Plus and cannot find information anywhere. TYIA and keep up the fantastic reviews
The Kobra 2 Pro is much better than the Neptune 4 Pro. However, CoreXY printers can vary in quality machines from BambuLab to cheap ones like Tronxy, so it's hard to generalize. Nevertheless, at the price of $279, the Kobra 2 Pro is still the best bed slinger you can get, regardless of whether their cloud feature, which is still not ready, turns out to be amazing, average or junk.
Brilliant and thorough video. I'm new to 3d printers and looking to purchase one in the next day or so. Been looking at this one and the Ender 5 S1, but don't know which one is going to be best, will be using it to make diy bits more than anything and would prefer something with really good quality. Which out of the 2 would you recommend, or is there any others that you'd recommend costing around 250
Literally watching this girl grow up lol. Some day she's gonna be like 35 and I'm like this old grandpa watching her do some INSANE new printer technology that prints literally anything in under 2 minutes or something lol
This vs n4pro?
This Kobra 2 Pro is way better.
@AuroraTech How? The elegoo machine seems to be the same but has a 300 degree nozzle vs 260-270. Edit: Maybe speed?

@@theglowcloud2215 Agreed, was hoping to not have to build one but that's the direction I'm most likely to go.
As long as one can opt-out, I'm fine with it. There's no way I can buy a printer with forced cloud for security.
Hello Aurora , i bought one for this review.
By the way the App is working with almost all the necessary functions now but still not the camera .
I'm really curious to see the longevity of the metal rollers vs rods and rails.
As always detailed reviews and love the bloopers part too.
Thank you for this relevant and insightful test!
Looking forward to your review of the Cobra 2 max! That sounds like it could be my next printer, pending your review reaults of course👍
Very nice 3D printer with low price.
Thanks for the show.
heck yea was hopeing you would review this gonna try and get a printer when i can afford one and was looking at this or neptune 4
This Kobra 2 Pro and 2 Neo is perfect for farm, best P/P in market
Thanks, all I want is unbiased info. I bought a kobra max on the info you gave me.
Really love your thorough reviews.
Thanks for Your review , I have already ordered one.
An interesting 3D printer.
Your report is great!
Subbed because this review was Awesome. Thank you!
Tnx 4 this very comprehensive test!
Bravo.
Prenez soins de vous. Cordialement.
Hello. Very good video, very complete on a technical level. The printer makes you want ^^
Thank you for sharing.
Congratulations on the explanations, your channel is incredible!!! Are the Kobra 2 profiles the same as the Pro?
Couldn't you just change the heat break for one that will work with volcano nozzles? That would also allow hotter temp printing if you bought the right one and a different thermistor. I believe it is much easier to change the max temp in klipper.
thank you so much! i am looking to get one now!
Best review yet!
Basically, if it were slowed down so that benchmark alpaca took 4 hours like the P1P, would quality be comparable to the P1P?
same thought 🧐
Love your channel. Keep it up.
Love the bloopers!!!! 😁
I'm curious about the fidget cube. You mentioned, this time, you needed some bending to move smoothly. I assume you mean that on some machines it works perfect right of the bed?
( I have tried this model a lot of times and it's getting better and better but I am yet to get the "hinge" that you see in the middle at minute 10:07 to work smoothly. )
great review as always! Thank you :)
Was it a good 3-D printer? And would you recommend buying it? As a beginner.
Yes, the Kobra 2 Pro is on my recommendation list, which currently includes only 8 out of the 100+ 3D printers we have tested. Please check out auroratechchannel.com
Ty
What is the maximum speed it can achieve for ASA & ABS materials? I luv ur review... Keep it up 😍❤️
Excellent detailed review, thanks.
you're the best , waiting for the MAX version 😋
Thank you for the Review. It helped me decide what to purchase. One questions if I may. With the Anycubic Kobra 2 you leased some Prusa profiles for PETG, TPU etc. Could you do the same for this printer please?
Can you post the profile you used please?
Great video as always.
I wonder if a TPU retraction test would be a good thing to add your test.
Thanks to sharing your experience with All of us 👍 😀 experience
I'm not 100% sure but i read that if you buy the hot end from a viper it will fit in the kobra 2 series and allow you to use normal nozzles
Good summary of pros and cons.
I would have liked to see more PETG prints :)
I just purchased this printer, it is my first 3d printer, any updates since this video was made and did I make a good decision on my purchase
I think all of these play an important role in terms of print quality and speed:
1. The motion system
2. Firmware tuning (input shaper calibration, bed leveling, auto z-offset)
3. A strong extruder and hotend
4. Part cooling
@@AuroraTech With all these new budget klipper bedslingers it would be interesting to see a comparison with setting the printers to the same speed and acceleration values and finding how much each manufacturer pushed the limits.
@4:30 Anycubic delivering accelerometers, large touchscreen, 32bit controller with klipper for $279, when prusa doesn't for $650.
Please review the Elegoo Neptune 4 pro!!!! I love your reviews and I’m trying to decide between the two:)
Kobra 2 Pro is way better in terms of both print quality and speed.
Another perfect review! Would you recommend this over the regular Kobra 2? Currently both on sale around $100 price difference in Australia
Great informative video, thanks for sharing!..
This is amazing, good quality with a reasonable price, could you please kindly advise if the dryer is a must?
Great review
review Kobra 2 Max . Thank q
I really feel Anycubic fails in the hotend being limited to 260c. I have to print pla at 245c when going fast so that basically limits this one badly.
Agreed. Would love to see an upgrade to enable the use of 300c nozzle.
Hi Aurora. Do you know if All Kobra 2 Series runs Klipper? I am in the marker for a Kobra 2 Plus and cannot find information anywhere. TYIA and keep up the fantastic reviews
Tempting. But the cloud service is a problem. Can you use a raspberry pi to control the printer over the network instead?
Chose your fav, Neptune 4 plus, Sovol S07 plus or Kobra 2 Pro?
brilliantly detailed ty
thank you for your reviews. please tell me which printer is better to take Kobra 2 PRO, Neptune 4 PRO or CoreXY printer?
The Kobra 2 Pro is much better than the Neptune 4 Pro. However, CoreXY printers can vary in quality machines from BambuLab to cheap ones like Tronxy, so it's hard to generalize. Nevertheless, at the price of $279, the Kobra 2 Pro is still the best bed slinger you can get, regardless of whether their cloud feature, which is still not ready, turns out to be amazing, average or junk.
@@AuroraTech which CoreXY would you recommend? I have reviewed creality k1 and QIDI X-Plus 3
Kobra 2 Pro is way better.
Literally watching this girl grow up lol. Some day she's gonna be like 35 and I'm like this old grandpa watching her do some INSANE new printer technology that prints literally anything in under 2 minutes or something lol
wow bed slingers are actually becoming somewhat useful
