V10 is a new model as well but it doesn‘t fit the new smart models.
@@Coninator correct, not ALL new models will have integrated comms. V10, new RPHA 12 (coming soon). The V10 is a vintage helmet and the RPHA 12 is a racing helmet, neither is suitable for fully integrated comms.

I own 4 HJC helmets, and the single most frustrating thing about them is the Proprietary Com system!!,
The day they can link to a Cardo Pack system, I’ll buy a set for all 4 helmets.
This reminds me of the old days, and the battle between Beta & VHS.

I have the 21B but can't find the FM radio function as Quoted at 7min 22 seconds.. The instructions do not mention an FM radio. I bought this to listen to FM radio (as per this review) and talk handsfree on the mobile. So how do I activate the FM radio if it has one? What am I missing?
Have you downloaded the HJC Smart app? FM Radio should work through there.

200$!?! Must be crazy! I got me a chinese general intercom with bluethooth 5 and and USB type C that lasts for 12hours and payed 30$ for a pair!
Previously I had some Lexin that also lasted me for two years. They still work but I wanted some newer ones!

I have the Cardo Packtalk Bold for myself and for my wife, I like the fact these are water resistant for rain. Helmet manufactures are designing helmets for their communications systems only which is frustrating. Who makes a modular helmet with color options for cardo systems? The cardo palktalk worked great on the HJC i90 but looks like will not work on the i91

Do these have the same connect-ability with cardo paktalks? Like not just connecting with one unit, but a group ride with cardo users.
Hi Paul - The HJC Smart units are made by Sena. If you're connecting to a Cardo you'll need to use what they call a universal bluetooth mode. This mode will connect you to one of the Cardo units in your riding group. By connecting to that Cardo unit you'll be 'kissed' into the larger group, mesh or otherwise. It's important to note you much stay within range of that cardo you are paired to as you will not have a self healing (mesh) connection. So in short the answer is YES but if you ride with a large group running Cardo mesh often you might want to consider going with a Cardo mesh unit.
any difference in sound quality or output between the two units?
Same exact speakers and audio quality.
I have an RPHA 90 and would like to be able to run mesh. I know they say it is for the x1 series but curious if it would be backwards compatible.
Mesh connection works within the same brand only.
Is the bluetooth function of this intercom works with insta360 like other intercom?

Does HJC / Sena have a unit that is compatible with Harley-Davison's Wireless Headset Interface Module?
It should be able to connect via Bluetooth.
@@SpeedAddictsTV Harley limits non-HD to mono sound with BT connections. If you want full functionality you have to get the HD branded SENA units. Also, any firmware updates have to come through the HD website. The standard SENA update path won't work. Took me awhile to figure this out. I don't know the there are any HD branded built-in units like this. I cannot confirm but hear that the 24 models have done away with this requirement so hopefully this will filter down to previous MY Harleys with dealer flash.

@@kodypersinger1511 Yes, Bluetooth connections are NOT model or brand dependent. So the HJC Gen 1 units will connect to these Gen 2 units.
i have the i 90 will the 21b work with it ?
Negative, the i90 is only compatible with the first gen HJC Smart 10B and 20B units.

According to Sena, the 21B is equivalent to 10R where the 50B is equivalent to 50R.
Why did you speed up the installation 🤦🏽 repeat and repeat info but speed through the installing bit which would be useful for viewers..
Especially since there is a wire on the control unit(s) that passes thru the helmet. No sign of electrical contacts, and no sign of a wire wrapping raround the bottom of the helmet.
We thought the install was too long to keep in the final edit. Sorry about that.

I’m seeing bad reviews on both of these. How is the audio? Locked in with having to get one due to the HJC helmet, but also bummed the reviews online aren’t that great. What are your thoughts on sound?
We have not personally tested this unit to check the sound quality.

Yes, it does fit the i91 helmet.
How did you route the wire attached to the control unit(s)? Especially since there is a wire on the control unit(s) that passes thru the helmet. No sign of electrical contacts, and no sign of a wire wrapping raround the bottom of the helmet. No, when you plug these in to power they will shutdown.
Unfortunately, you cannot ride while charging.
Is there a headphone jack like there are on a standard Sena?
No aux jack, thus you do need to use the hardwired HD speakers.
@@SpeedAddictsTV That would be a showstopper for me. They saved about $2 in production costs, but eliminated options for either upgraded speakers or my preferred solution of noise-isolating earbuds. Pity.
so apparently HJC/Sena finally release a firmware update for these. I have no idea if it gets rid of the bugs or not since I don't own one.
We are not sure ourselves. Hopefully they worked out the kinks.

Are the new smart bluetooth headsets compatible with "older" helmets? (ie c91)
These units are not compatible with the older helmets.
I have not found anywhere if 21b is compatible with HJC F71.
In the helmet specifications it is mentioned that the helmet is compatible with any second generation HJC SMART, but the F71 helmet is not mentioned in the HJC SMART product descriptions.
The F71 is compatible with the 21B. It is mentioned on HJC's website.

Hey Phillip, These units are made by Sena and have hardwired speakers. So speaker swaps are not an option, but we will say the audio is quite good as they stand.

Hi, Have you tested if it can work with Cardo perhaps? I mean does it connect to Cardo mesh or you need to use bluetooth?
Bluetooth connections are NOT brand dependent. Mesh however is proprietary, so you wont be able to make a true mesh connection across brands. That said you can typically connect a Sena to a Cardo unit as bluetooth and get 'kissed in' to a mesh group. The rider you have that bluetooth link with needs to stay in range otherwise you'll loose you link and have to re-pair. Hope this helps.

This is very disappointing , I bought the 21b , thinking it would fit my i100 which I only got 1yr.ago , I don't understand why they bring out a unit like this that won't fit other hjc helmet models 👎👎

No, the HJC RPHA 11 is not compatible with any of the HJC Smart Comms.
