Some beautiful views of Siem Reap in this video. The day was just magical and it was lovely to get out. I hadn't been to Phnom Krom for a couple of years, and the road is fantastic all the way there now. It's only 11.4km from Siem Reap Post Office - a nice, easy ride, even on a bicycle (apart from the hill bit at the end!).
My wife loves to climb up the stairs to Phnom Krom and walk up to the top for exercise. We came in September for the first time since 2020 and there were many changes along the road there. She also loves to climb to the top of Phnom Bok which I find way more challenging. Thanks for sharing
Nothing better than going up to the top of Phnom Bok the slow way just after dawn. The bird songs in the thick forest are incredible and the stone work on top is fantastic. i love that place.
Hello Claire, something different in a way of your filming, really enjoyed it. The narrating and the viewing you pickup of Siem Reap daily life out of the usual tourist environnement, is outstanding, many thanks🙏.
Thanks so much, really pleased you enjoyed this video as I really enjoyed making it and am excited to show more of these kinds of places. Siem Reap might be small, but there is plenty of exploring to be done!
It's really nice. I was planning to go for another ride that way but staying with the river instead of the new road. After this morning's rain, I might need to wait a few days for things to dry out!
Being an Aussie, the eucalyptus are always a pleasant sight when travelling abroad. Phnom Krom and one of the red roads near the rice fields has the best examples of this. Love the update on what is happening around SR.
It is a nice infrastructure project in partnership with Korea. Did a walk from Old Market to a little cafe called LeanAn Café លានអាន កាហ្វេ last week before the heavy rain started. Hope they put back some trees and walkways from Ring Rd downstream and don't build/pave too close to the river.
Ooh. Thsi is a part of Siem Reap that i always wanted to explore but never got around to seeing. Now i know that i have to see it when i get back. The new bridges are great.
Thanks for the inspiration. I've been to Siem Reap several times but never got to Phnom Krom. I'll be back in March '25 and after seeing this I'll go for sure. I can only hope I get the same weather you had that day.
Very nice. As soon as I get my Angkor Free Pass because of living 2 year in Cambodia right now, I will go to Phnom Krom again. It's been 4.5 years since my last visit.
Just came back from a two month stay in Siem Reap. We rode bicycles along the River area near Wat Bo. It’s a great place to see and live. Really enjoyed your video. Looking forward to finally relocating there in 2026.
That first new bridge is not far from my house should be open soon. I had to go back to USA but will be back in December . Was fun meeting you guys at the airport in August
I rode my bicycle on the same road as you did from Downtown and unfortunately I stopped at the Lotus Farm, not kowing that a bit further I would have found the Phnom Krom and the floating village. It'll be for the next time. Thanks to remind me that ride.
It's definitely worth poking around down that way. The village at the base of Phnom Krom is interesting and the people who live in the area are always happy to see a foreign face.
@@ForRiel , I'll for sure. I thought the floating village and Tonle Sap were way too far away. But when I checked on Google map today I realized it was barely one mile further. Thanks again for all your videos. So informative and pleasant. Hope to move definitely over there before next summer.
Hi Claire…. Lots of changes since 2017. When I come back to live there….It might feel like a different city. Maybe I might go to Kampot south of Phnom Penh, or Stung Treng City north of Phnom Penh. Thank you for the video. I love Phnom Krom village and mountain. Yes…lovely views, and wonderful people and food. Namo Buddhaya, 🙏🏼 ☸️ 🇰🇭 🇨🇦 🌴 🌴 🌴 😃
Maybe you could live in Siem Reap but a little out of town in one of the villages. It's lovely out at Phnom Krom but the people there are doing it pretty tough, I think.
Thank you for this video Clare. Love seeing the scenery and changes in Siem Reap❤. I had heard that the SR town water supply was now drinkable. Is that true?
Claire, that was very enjoyable… You know somebody was getting Wet!!! Would you and Jerimie help a Wayward soul find a place in Siem Reap??? Thanks Jim
If you remember Terminator or possible Term 2, there is a chase scene through a concrete river. All that is being torn out to let the Los Angelas River reestablish its marshy existence. Turns out it is better for flood control. A lot of cities are unpaving rivers now. Probably is better if Siam Reep lets it be natural. I'm sure its not as simple as this.
Claire, perhaps the best video you made! Wonderful views and great impressions. At least I love this one very much. One question: do you recommend a scooter or would it be possible to get there by bicycle too? Without dying half way up of course.
Thank you for such kind words 🙏. Definitely possible on a bicycle, and the way up is quite short as it's not a big hill. Lots of people cycle down there for early morning exercise.
Very sad news, I think our days of traveling to Cambodia are over. Jetstar no longer fly to Phnom Penh, & the prices of flights to Bangkok from Melbourne have gone sky high. We've loved vising Siem Reap & PP for many years, but now I think it's financially out of our reach. This is devastating for us, as we love Cambodia & have lots of friends there. Enjoy everyone, take care & maybe one day a cheaper air line will depart from Melbourne and bring us back to our 2nd home?.
12:27 I hope the gov of Cambodia, Siem reap province pay attention more to the Hallah food for the Muslim friend, so that the country can attract more Muslim travellers from around the world. My last visit to Siem reap during rainny season was hard to find a public Hallah restaurant, I'm not a Muslim, I'm a native Khmer in mekong delta vn.
Good video Claire, hows the Mozzies? with all the water. A useless fact is Chevron (goat/mutton) meat is the most wildly eaten meat in the world. Those gums look like Spotted Gums, there is a town in India with heaps of Spotted gums, weird connection?
I've eaten goat a few times and enjoyed it. You'd think they'd farm it a bit more here given how easy goats are to raise. I know there are some eucalypts native to Southeast Asia so that could be it.
Are the bridges Chinese? (As always, its the story behind the story that has the real meaning!) Siem Reap is not Sihanoukville, but Cambodia IS a mouse in bed with an elephant. Half a world away, as I am, is out of touch with this issue, but you are living it, so tell us what it all really means...
just to be clear, china is not the only investor in cambodian infrastructure. and just because someone says it’s chinese, doesn’t necessarily mean china, khmer, group taiwan and hong kong into the same category, which really annoys me.
Someone else said this infrastructure is Korean-funded. I don't know the story behind it, but I know the people living around will benefit greatly from the development.
Certainly can. There's a supermarket chain in Phnom Penh called Super Duper where you can get most Australian groceries. Vegemite is available in Siem Reap and Kampot, too.
didn’t cambodia just finished a religious holiday? i think it was the 15 days one, where everyone goes back to their hometown and the capital becomes a ghost town😂. probably that’s what the carriage and those ceremonial stuff were, on the bridge.

They are!
Hi Claire - have you done a video yet on the charity situation out in CMB? I'm thinking about getting involved with somewhere more rural @@ForRiel
Very nice video Claire.
Just got back from Cambodia for seventh visit. All the resurfacing of roads and infrastructure in Siem Reap has made a huge difference to the town.
Yes, it has made things so much easier. It is great for the locals because it's easier for them to get to work, school, markets, everything!
I'm stoked, I haven't been in a decade.
That's what I feel as well, I was there until a month ago and I ride a motorbike there, things became much better after this Chinese intervention.
Hopefully roads in Battambang will follow Siem Reap example
Thank you so much for the video. Siem Reap is such a beautiful region. I was there last month and I can’t wait to go back in 2026 to settle there. 😊
It really is, and it's at the height of its beauty at the end of rainy season, I think. I hope your 2026 planning is going well!
We miss you around here, glad you're back with another wonderful update. Thank you.
Aw thank you! We'll try to be a bit more regular with uploads in future - had a little time off.
Luv the views from those different heights - appreciate the video ✔️✌️👋🙏
Thanks so much for your support, as always!

Oh, Phnom Bok is a bit of a rubble scramble in places! I've only been up there once, but parts of the trail are definitely tricky.
Nothing better than going up to the top of Phnom Bok the slow way just after dawn. The bird songs in the thick forest are incredible and the stone work on top is fantastic. i love that place.

The call to prayer was very smooth and peaceful.
It was lovely. I enjoy listening to it very much.
Thanks for the Great changes in SR
Yes, it's wonderful for the people who live out that way.

Sometimes you would think you are in Australia.
I traveled that road in 1998, from memory it was dirt with huge potholes. Sure has changed a lot. I'm so glad I experienced Siem Reap when I did.
Yes, it has changed. These new roads make such a difference for local people - so much easier for them to access things they need quickly.
Beautiful views. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I'll be there 21 Oct
Can't wait
I'll be there a week later.
I've waited a year, I can wait more. 😅
So close! Those last days drag so much!
Great! 😃👍
I am there 28th for 4 weeks. See you there

It's really going to improve things for people who live out that way. It does look a little bare right now, some trees would be wonderful.
Wow stunning views ❤

Definitely! We can go down on the bikes if you like - you can ride with Jeremy 😀 edit - Jeremy just told me you have a bike. I didn't realise!
@@ForRiel I feel a comedy video would be made of that ride alone. Haha
I was around this area to the flooding village recently. Siem Reap is one of my favorite place in Cambodia
It's a great place to live 😍🥰
What a beautiful day, Green with amazing blue sky, thanks Claire, even some gum trees. Goats as well, what more can you ask for.
It was just lovely to see the blue skies with the green. Really great day to be out and about.
This video has a great "feel good" factor about it.
Totally enjoyable 🙏👍
I'm glad it came across as I had a great time recording the footage! Thanks for watching 🙂
Gorgeous views and Siem Reap just keeps getting better.
It does! The little town that could 🎉🙏🐐
Just added Phnom Krom to my itinerary, for sure. Thanks!
It's lovely out there. I am sure you won't regret it.

Thanks for the inspiration. I've been to Siem Reap several times but never got to Phnom Krom. I'll be back in March '25 and after seeing this I'll go for sure. I can only hope I get the same weather you had that day.

Excellent. You know as soon as you get your second 12 month visa you can get the pass? No need to wait til the end of year 2.
That bridge is going to get dirty and mighty slick with mud being tracked on it.
Yes, I'd say so. That seems to be the surface they are using for all the bridges.
Hopefully there is a water tap nearby. Siem Reap residents star every day by washing the dirt off the pavement
