    Great video as always Mr Teapotone, thankyou.
    I already have a DC1, a couple of things you missed.
    The remote as you said has a very short strap so doesn't fit your wrist but the strap does fit onto the left hand side of the bars so the buttons can be pushed with the left thumb.
    When the save video button is pushed on the remote the camera will vibrate to let you know that it's saved the video also a light will appear on the remote to acknowledge your button push, it wont vibrate when you take a photograph but the light will illuminate.
    I personally turn the sound recording to it's lowest setting on my DC1 as I don't think think my insurance company wants to hear me singing along to my music, but even with it on the lowest setting it wiill pick up voices when you're stationary without the wind noise.
    I keep a usb battery pack in my top box, so whenever I stop throughout the day, I put my lid in the top box & plug the camera in ( as Tesco says every little helps ).
    Also in the box it comes with an Allen key & bolts so you don't have to use the thumb screws, So it makes everything a little more permanent.
    And one last thing I'm sorry, it doesn't help you via your affiliate link, but if you're a member of IAM there is a discount code so you can get a free 128gb sd card when you order ( Because of this comment I am going to buy you a coffee via the Thanks tab on UA-cam).

    Great review Bruce, (as usual) thank you. Picture quality looked good enough, not worried about the sound (not a UA-camr) the only one of your negatives that would bother me is the lack of 'recording indicator' on the remote. Once/ if Technologic fix that then I think they're onto a winner with those that just want a dashcam for insurance purposes and can't run to the expense of a K5 . Stay safe.

    Hello! I have been using one of these for almost 2 years now. Agree that the sound is rubbish and the problem I have is not knowing when it is recording when on the move. I now start the camera before mounting the bike and putting on my gloves but too many times I have lost footage when, for some reason it has stopped. Good tip that about using the supplied charging cable (now where did I put that?). Plus I don’t think the battery life is anything like advertised. Would I buy one knowing what I have learned? Absolutely not.
    It’s a case of so close but still so far. A few tweaks and it could be great.
    Cheers John 👍

    I can see one problem here in that if you turn your head to one side the camera is not pointing directly to the rear. I have a setup using two Drift ghost cameras. A XL on my helmet (8 hour battery life) and a X mounted above my rear tail lamp (5 hours battery life). Both give a very good resolution for the (what if happens) and can be also powered with an external power bank via a USB lead. £140 each and very good value for peace of mind. Ride safe.

    I have one mounted on the top of my modular helmet. It affords me great views both front and rear, and relatively equally between left and right sides (as the camera could only be set slightly off-center on the helmet).
    The lower sound settings, combined with using a windscreen on top of the mic hole, will work miracles with the audio (though it's a very secondary consideration since I use the camera as a front/rear dashcam). The sound pickup is enough to complete the picture of an accident (which can also include interactions with others).
    Great review.

    Thanks for the informative heads up Bruce. I think i agree with your conclusion on the Technologic as being a dash cam only type system, and the Innov k5 i think is a better system albiet a lot more expensive, but points to where you need it too, all of the time. the more i think about it and see the standard of driving in general degenerating, i think a dash cam on a bike is now a must to protect your interests and your NCB !! Cheers Bruce.

    • @teapotone

      Hello bud,
      If you’re after a pure dashcam then the INNOVV K3 or K5 are fantastic systems. Fit and forget, you don’t need to worry about anything.
      With helmet mounted systems you always need to make sure you switch them on, that they’re powered, pointing the right way etc.
      But, if you’re riding different bikes then something like the DC-1 or XV-1 allow you to cover any ride

  • @TrooperTed
    @TrooperTed 2 роки тому

    Interesting concept but think the mount system could be better. Understand it's easy to use the GoPro mounts as they're so ubiquitous, but I think it sticks out too far, especially the thumbscrew.
    For side mounting to a helmet, I'd prefer the Drift or Contour (remember them?) system as it sits closer to the lid

    • @danghawes
      @danghawes 2 роки тому

      It doesn't actually sit that far out from your lid, the side of the camera sits @ 45mm & the mounting bolt is @ 60mm if you use the Allen key bolts that are supplied in the box rather than the thumb screws you really don't notice that it's there. As for the 3M sticky pads I was dubious to start with, but the camera is still there 3 months later.

    For a proper dashcam I think it has to be hard wired, have both the Innovv K3 and K5 on two of my bikes, ignition on, camera on and no need to think about anything. Although I have just had to replace the camera body unit of the K5. Stopped working for some reason, was a bit pissed about that!

    • @teapotone
      @teapotone  2 роки тому

      I’ve had to replace the remote as mine became faulty, but that’s it so far

    • @dexradio
      @dexradio 2 роки тому +1

      @@teapotone no power to the unit. I only noticed when the “remote” buttons didn’t light up. As I understand it, it’s “typically” the power converter or the head unit that goes. The K5 has all the gubbins in the head unit so if that goes it’s an easy if costly fix. Just replace it which is what I had to do. The multimeter showed power was ok at the power converter. I didn’t diagnose it myself but had a guy I use for such things do it for me. My talents are somewhat limited in these issues.

      Got one and had it for 1 year. It’s good, but battery life is limited. I have to switch it off at times during my ride when not needed on protected shared paths. Saves battery power. Also the mic picks up a lot of wind. But very good for reporting catching close passes for evidence purposes. Reported around 80 in the last year. 90% police have taken action.
      Also found it too heavy mounted on the side of my helmet. Mounted on top of my helmet and after a while don’t notice the extra weight. Get called a tele-tubby though. 😂

I use two old SJCAM SJ6 Legends, with one on my helmet using a cheap chin mount, the other on the bike for rear footage, in the plastic housing. The mic I use is a cheap laptop mic off Amazon, but the results are pretty good in my opinion. Please feel free to have a look at my vids, and tell me what you think. I record and render in 2k 30fps. Dude, are you aware that you can mute the audio with UA-cams video editor and then overlay an audio recording of you telling your viewers / subscribers your favorite Krankies jokes, or humming your favorite Frank Zappa tunes ?
    Me myself, I'm looking forward to the day that they make a true 8mp 0.001lux penta camera / DVR ... [5x 4K cameras in one unit].
    Up 180degree lens, positional FBRL 140degree lenses, with a rechargeable 5,000amp battery and 1TB solid state storage built in. One that we can mount to roofs / the roofs of cars / vans / lorries / Tanks [?]/ cool boxes etc etc ... or be put into a powered 40w RGBW Led [4x 10w] waterproof housing and thrown / lowered into the sea, a lake or a river, on a long tether ...
    but hey, I've been on benefits since 1990 [had to give up / sacrifice riding] and therefore the above is just a another pipe dream / idea that someone will probably steal and make millions of £'s / $'s etc from ... unless of course I win the euromillions when the top prize is £150m ... and then make them myself.
    From my perspective, that is an excellent camera for airsoft / cyclist / horse riders / walkers / surveillance / perverts / people watchers / bushmen etc.
    For Motorcyclist UA-camrs they would need to work on the audio ... or you could silicone a tiny circle of black waterproof fabric to cover the hole, and see if that stopped the wind noise.
