I really like your teaching style the way you explain why things work as well as just teaching the chords. Thanks for taking time to make these videos, as a 52 yr old who has been playing metal and blues for 30 odd years but now wants to learn jazz it’s great people such as yourself have taken time to break down the walls of mystery
Andy: Fabulous lesson. Doing this with a combo I am working with and the music was very puzzling. I would attach it if I could but the chords used were so complex. Your lesson revealed that it is much simpler than I thought.
One of my favorite songs. My favorite version of this song is Vince Guaraldi on piano although this arrangement is just as lovely. Thanks again for a great lesson 🙏🏾
I don’t use a noisegate. I find them odd to play with. Do you experience it pretty with yours then? Have you looked into shielding the cavities of the guitar?
@@jazzguitarwithandy I’ve been on the hunt for a new electric to learn/play jazz on (primarily classical player) but all the teles I’ve tried in stores hummed to some degree which is making me think i should maybe just go the humbucker route. I’m deaf in one ear so the other is really sensitive to noise (partly the reason I’ve mostly avoided electrics)
@@moemedani8883 for me it just depends how close you are to the amp. Humbucker is a good option though. A lot of teles are routed for a humbucker already.
I wouldn't consider that part of the basic changes, definitely a good chord to put in though. I try and teach basic changes, that's a nice chord to add in, but not essential.
So this is a pretty interesting standard. Very interesting chords to that A section! Let me know if you have any questions based on today's lesson!
This is the most accurate version I've seen on UA-cam. Thank you.
Thank you, it's a great tune to learn
So clear and helpful. Mille Mercis!
Glad it was helpful!

This is a great breakdown. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you Andy !!!
No worries!
Musicians!
This post is rather helpful and informative. Listen very carefully to get the chord changes to support the melody properly! Enjoy!!
Very good advice for tritonic substitutions with chromatic descent of chords.Thank a lot Andy for lesson of this great tune :)
I love that A section! Thanks for the comment Jaime.
Great lesson thanks Andy - one of my favourite standards. Have you ever thought about a chord melody lesson on a standard like this?
It is something I've thought about doing, this one would be a good one to do.

Hey Andy, do you use a noise gate when you play your teles? Your audio is super clean, i don’t hear any 60 cycle hum at all!

you forget a chord on 8° bar it's an A5+7b that leads to the Dmin 7 and others chords alterations on II V I
progressions

or A7/6/9b
@@jean-lucbersou758 lots of possibilities. I love the ambiguity of the A section.
I would use C6/9 sounds better later on use drop 2 voicings
It certainly does for the melody.
