Renaissance or Baroque ? Kapsberger : Toccata (1611) Göran Söllscher guitar

In 1610 John Dowlands son Robert published his collection ’Variety of Lute Lessons’. Definitely
renaissance music.
Giovanni Girolamo Kapsberger published his first book of ’D’intavolatura di lauto’ just one year later but I feel that we are certainly on our way into the baroque with this Toccata from that book.
Really exciting music and not very often played,
at least not among guitarists.

When you won the Paris competition, I also tried to practice playing the 11-string guitar, but I gave up because it seemed more difficult to turn off the sound than to make the sound.
Of course, one of the reasons was that the instruments were not only rare, but also expensive.

1611 is the beginning of the Early Baroque period!!
That was the same time that Monteverdi wrote one of the first Operas, L'Orfeo!!
I love Kapsberger!!
You sound great as always!!
