Great reaction and analysis. Not really sure what to call them. Post Prog? Pop Prog? They combine and invent so many things in their sound design, song structure, conception, and they then deliver on the technical execution. I think that this song may be a bit more "direct", ie stripped down, to drive the point of the song's main idea but their harmonies always hit the mark. I've thought for a long time that their choruses and melodies are some of the best composed in their "genre" style and stick with you long after the song is over.
