BROOKLYN DUO BIO:
Founded in 2014, Brooklyn Duo has quickly established itself as one of today’s most successful classical crossover ensembles. Through its creative arrangements and live video performances, the piano and cello duo has garnered a huge following, with over 1.2 million UA-cam subscribers and over 150 million streams annually on platforms such as Spotify and Pandora Radio. Their music has been used in numerous television shows, including Grey's Anatomy, Pretty Little Liars, Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, America's Got Talent, and most recently during the 2020 Democratic National Convention.
Members Marnie and Patrick Laird met while students at the same chamber music festival and were married in 2012. Both worked as professional musicians after graduating from the Eastman and Juilliard schools of music, respectively; Patrick as a founding member of popular cello rock band, Break of Reality, and Marnie as principal pianist of the New World Symphony. In 2014, on a whim, the couple recorded two covers and released them on UA-cam. They were thrilled when Shakira herself took notice of their cover and tweeted about it. The boost from that exposure and the positive response they were getting on UA-cam encouraged them to continue creating videos.
Today, Marnie and Patrick have released over 100 videos on their Brooklyn Duo UA-cam channel and 10 albums of covers, spanning artists from The Beatles to Metallica to Ariana Grande. They also have a second UA-cam channel, "Brooklyn Classical", which aims to introduce classical music to a larger audience through high quality, live video performances.
Popular classical music stations Classic FM and WQXR regularly share Brooklyn Duo’s music on their social media pages, with Classic FM calling the duo “masters of the artfully planned pop cover.”

I am completely impressed. You know, I'm not a classical music person but I am. I don't know all the industry lingo and I don't read music. My son's amazed me with elementary school clarinet and flute. I took a music appreciation course and it was - kind of boring but appreciated knowing a few concepts. Bottom Line - I love music. I'm in awe at the talent and ability of people to make these instruments sound beautiful. At them and there instruments becoming part of eachother. ALL the sounds. I love focusing on one. Then another. Then another. Then hearing all. It's ZEN. A full experience. It requires attention but it's easy. It's not work. It's "A Get Away" "A Vacation" THANK YOU. And I love reading your notes. It adds to my experience. Makes it Richer.

You guys were fabulous at my daughter’s wedding on 12-10-22. This was a birthday gift from her fiancée. It was a very thoughtful gift. Everyone were amazed at the beautiful music that was played. I lost it when beauty and the beast was played. My daughter will always be our princess.

To me, the Piano represents pureness, beauty and freedom. The instrument sounds like how it would feel like to look back at all of your life/obstacles and realize how much you’ve grown. The Cello, to me, represents passion, hope and courage. That although we’re in hardship, we stand regardless. A cry of hope that the burden we carry while here on earth will one day be lifted. Both are beautiful in their own way..

Classical instruments are my favorite. To me, it's pure. It speaks to the heart and soul of people. The good, bad, beautiful, ugly, loving and hating. I heard someone say that when a musician realizes that they don't play an instrument, and that THEY make the music, you will do great things. And I believe it 100%.

Well we decided to take the kids and grandkids to a fancy hotel for a weekend and a catered dinner. The hubster didn't particularly like the idea of renewing our vows. He said he meant it the first time and didn't need to say them again! Ha!! But we still had a beautiful cake and the kids and grandkids liked having us for a whole weekend. BUT, saying that...when my granddaughter gets married (she just graduated college) I am going to suggest using this beautiful tune for her and her man. I'll get that music into some type of ceremony by hook or by crook. Didn't think I would answer with a novel did you?
We did use this as our wedding walk song on 2/22/22. I don't think we had a dry eye on the building. Thank you for such a beautiful instrumental.💝💝

Ich habe Klavier nie wirklich gemocht sondern bin eher der Celloliebhaber. Habe auch auf der Suche nach Cellostücken, dass Brooklyn Duo erst entdeckt und genau hier habe ich das Klavier so lieben gelernt. Marnie Laird spielt einfach perfekt. Jeder Tastenschlag kommt zum richtigen Zeitpunkt, mit der richtigen Kraft und richtigen Lautstärke. Sie ist mit dem Herz und der Seele dabei und zieht mich mit ihrem Talent völlig in den Bann. Das ist mir beim Klavier noch nie passiert... Die anderen machen auch einen super Job! Für mich sticht das Klavier halt raus, weil ich es vorher nie so richtig wahrgenommen habe. Sie gehört definitiv zu den ganz großen👍
