"We're 1 and 1, maybe we have to do it again?" Poirier said after knocking McGregor out at UFC 257.
In 2O14 they met for the first time and Conor was able to outclass Poirier both physically & mentally but in the beginning of 2O21, Poirier was a lot more mature and experienced in his fighting career and was able to get it back to 1-1 with a crazy finish.
Now here we are, couple of months later, with one of the most anticipated trilogy in UFC history with the most popular combat athlete the world have ever seen.
This is for legacy, for power, and for the No 1 contender spot.
On July 1Oth, Conor and Dustin will battle once and for all to find out who is truly the best fighter.
This is my extended preview for this highly anticipated match-up!

I think Dustin wins this one because of a couple things: Dustin is the more active fighter, Dustin gets better and adapts after every fight, and Dustin is able to deliver on gameplans, which ATT is very good at giving him gameplans.

like last fight, Dustin will try to find a take down, if couldn't, he will try calf kick as well. And Conor will upgrade his take down defend, and try to make sure the fight is just in striking. I think Dustin will win the fight because his technique is more complete

This fight has so much stakes despite not being a title fight. Conor’s legacy and Dustin’s title shot.
Dustin earned his title shot. I think Connor has more at stake here and by the look at things in their last fight, he might lose this one, this time by ground and pound/submission.
If Connor loses, people will look at him like he's done. Even if he wins his next fight, he won't get the title shot, more so if Dustin won it. Meanwhile, if Dustin loses this and wins his next fight, he will still be in the title picture.

UFC has been founded since 1993 and most of us didn't know about this sport exist until Conor Mcgregor made a fuss about it.. now UFC matches worth millions. Gotta remember the man for that.
That sounds like an exhageration though, I doubt people weren't aware of it before that. Ronda was everywhere just to name one - and the sport has been discussed everywhere and in politics for decades.
We used to rent them all the time when they came out at the Video store. Gracie, shamrock, some Tank abbot. The fights were so crazy and the reason people didn’t hear about it is cause it was a banned sport and people thought of it being barbaric. Back then you had to be tough as shit cause rules were different, bones were broken and weight class didn’t exist they just threw em in. You had to be 18 to even rent them and only a few places had them.
If you didn’t hear about this till Mcgregor than you weren’t a fan of the sport or you were chillin under a rock man.🤷🏼♂️. UFC and combat sports been around a long as time

And actually, mcgregor made me to tune in into UFC because of his antics and his ability to taunt his opponent till fans loved it. If you look into other fighters, yes they are good, but they dont know how to make it look exciting. Mcgregor has the ability to do that. But that was the old mcgregor. now he's changed a bit, but for the better.
To me, this is Conor's last chance to prove he can still go. If he loses again, I personally think he should leave his gloves in the octagon. There is no shame in that. He accomplished what he set out to do. First ever Two Division Champion, set his family up for life and beyond, he beat some of the very best in the world. I get the drive to want to compete is still there, but like it was said, " It's hard to get up at 5 in the morning and go running, when you're sleeping in silk pajamas. "

@@waclac If he loses against Dustin again he will have lost 3 of his last four fights, not counting Mayweather since that was Boxing. MMA is a brutal game, you're on top one moment then it's all gone. Plus like I said, he's got half a billion in his bank now. I am sure he enjoys competing, but honestly how motivated can you actually get when you aren't fighting to survive?

Connor taps out or gives in when he has a tuff oponent even with Dana's ref Herb Dean cheating for Connor. Khabib knew after their fight what was going on, that's why Khabib said no to Herb. Even with all the odds stacked in Connors favour he can't win these days without cheating. What was that Cowboy fail all about, Nate Diaz 2nd fight what a disgrace the judges scoring.
