This is a great tool Prof. Been doing it since IMIW came out too. A little more advanced technique for IMIW or Havoc and now Nova is to "reparry". You hold block and block the first hit and quickly tap to parry the second hit of their combo. Takes a bit more practice than this method, but they are both great ways to get around these champs.
I have to say thanks! Great skills to always keep fresh. I do the same as you and get crazy and don’t read nodes then get wrecked. Read the nodes and go, “oh yea back to basics and fight down!”
GOOD JOB Prof!!! I'm so proud of you! Learning how you can get a full combo in after baiting a heavy attack is a big step in the game! Next you can go for Uncollected!
I've just started doing this more with IMIW, Thing (when stun immune), Mordo, and Domino but you do have to be careful with the block damage especially if you have a low health champ. Another tip is if you have Hype, do SP1s on champs as they come forward to attack. I use this trick on IMIW/Sentinel all the time in AW.
It's good that you make videos... It generally educates all dedicated mcoc summoners... And as u mentioned it's an efficient and time saving strategy However one of the downfalls of this method is that ( in other modes) when opponents are much stronger.. The block damage u take is crazy.. so Ultimately u will have to be efficient to evade normal attacks too..

This is very effective for Korg if the heavy bait counter isn't happening easy. Couple hits, shatter the armor, bait the special and repeat with this or the heavy bait/counter
@@jalderink it's giving advice I know it works. You don't need to take any block damage. Like if your planning on blocking their characters that can break through that. But attacking into their block and dash back draws them out and it's alot easier to intercept. So your the jerk cause all I did was to suggest he should keep playing how he is.
@@Gk-nf1tq You did not give advice, you said to do one thing that does not work well in the game. If you'd explained what you are now, THAT would be advice. Hard to believe you can't see the difference.
@@jalderink the advice is sticking to what he doing. What I just did was detail how to do it. It's pretty simple. He could either keep trying to find his own way through trial and error like so many people do or he could just read how I described doing it. Either way it's advice.
I do the block-dashback on heavy-attack method, but I should use it more often -- I get impatient and use intercepts -- and get wrecked. I don't get as many parries as I should. Thanks for the video -- it reminds me that I should use this method more often.
I've always felt they need to reduce block damage because of the damage you can take from much higher champs on tough nodes. This is a must to learn for stun immune nodes. Watch out for those node buffs that do damage through block and champs like Corvus that can do critical damage through block and Yondu that can bleed through block with his Yaka Arrow. @prof - I've been away from this game for quite a while and am just coming back to it. Always love hearing your humility, honesty, and genuine willingness and intent to help all levels of players.
"Stand your ground" mastery is for blocking heavy attacks successfully. It allows you to block an attack that would normally break through your block. It has no effect on normal attacks.. You could just hold block, mastery or not.
I always do this! I thought this was normal but when it comes to kabam they dont really tell you these things, and it comes down to you just naturally figuring things out for yourself. When I first started years ago, I didnt even know you could block😂 But this video is great for new players and even older players who just never knew these things were possible! More power to the people! Great video prof! Thank you for the content💪
Another small, but great benefit move just like this one is... rushing in for a medium, then 3 light combos, but DO NOT finish the combo with neither a light nor a medium. Just dash back. (Works great only when the defender is above 1 bar) It gives you distance from the defender’s special attack, instead of accidentally running into it.
I do a combination of this and parry. Depending on the champ or the node I will switch it up. But champs like BPCW, Mordo, I will try anyway to wait for them to throw a heavy then go in. Intercepting is better obviously but if you cant parry them its better to take a few blocked hits then straight up lol. Awesome video man
Devin mhammad buffet yes, protection shield, yes, Emp, yes. Rage is annoying but definitely possible if you want to fight a long fight. (If she is low rank then yes)
great tip! I try to have everyone in my alliance do this to fight IMIW! Heavy attacking in the middle of his heavy is the only sure way to get past his auto block without truestrike =)
Prof you should go over alot of newer champs who have aggressive combo rotations where you can simply either medium attack after theirs and get a free counter (i.e Domino) or light attack after their medium attack to counter them (i.e Annihilus and Cap Marvel Movie).
The next step from here is honing your counter heavy game. I've found a great way to get better at them is when you're clearing the lower difficulty EQs or whatever else, just commit to clearing lines with only counter heavies if at all possible, or if not possible, at least using the technique you're talking about here. Really helps lessen your reliance on parrying- one less crutch.
Hey Proff, if you attack into their block with 1 hit then hold block the ai tends to throw a heavy that way you're not taking as much block damage baiting the heavy.

It's a great tip until you find yourself with a Node like Kinetic Tranference or the one where they increase the block penetration on both champs. It is a useful tip but not your solution for everything, it will help you progress faster on certain fights yes but that's it and it is just as useful as intercepting, parrying, dodging etc. I feel like in order to be good is to know how to adapt to the situation like in any other fighting game. If the fight requires you to be aggressive, intercept and parry but if the fights requires you to be defensive, block and dodge.
