I actually have no moral problem with Workers. After all, the New World is a "do what you gotta do" type of place.
But you have to accept what you're signing up for. You can't only be cool with it when you're _winning._ Big money is typically is never what it seems at face value. When you're doing shady or even flat out illegal stuff, you can't cry and complain if you end up arrested or eaten by a mountain troll.

SnowyWolborg you can complain a bit when you realise they were setup and are fighting against unkillable gods and will end up torturing you for the rest of your life

@@petesthename1588 Not when many of them were planning to kill for sport, which. Before they even left the Empire they discussed the possibility of even meeting a dragon, and Erya specifically thought he could win against one. They were expecting resistance. If they're that concerned about going home alive, just go back to being regular adventurers.

SnowyWolborg I mean they were prepared to die because they knew the reward would be great, but it doesn’t make them happy about it. They also were not prepared to be tortured and skinned alive and experimented on and healed and repeated.

True, they were set up, the problem I see is lacking knowledge of the setup, their intentions were pretty clear, rob and kill the inhabitants of a tomb, were they able, they'd have slaughtered Ainz and laughed about it over drinks. One might argue robbing mere undead isn't bad because undead lack sentience and hate the living, well except liches that do make deals with the living sometimes. Humans would reason killing Demi-humans is also fine because they eat humans, which to a human makes them no better than undead, hell humans kill humans anyway and a workers do do shady stuff. Still, Ainz should've given them a quick death instead of torture.
I will say though that if they weren't set up and the job was real, I wouldn't have any problem with their fate. Nazarick is an ugly place full of horrors, it'd be weird for any mercy to be shown, and Ainz would be twice as pissed if the job were genuine about his home and memories being violated.

If you were in the world of overlord and came across an item or the knowledge to change your player race, would you do it? What would it be? Why would you do it?

Yes! I would choose a heteromorph race simply because they don't age. Beeing biologically immortal sounds really nice and I could slwoly increase my level over the centuries.
As for Race I would go with something along the lines of an Angel-Typ (flight is awesome & the great reputation of angels would allow me to still live in a human society)
With Abilities such as healing, resurrection & [SUMMON LOW/MID TIER ANGEL) I could build an army & the civil infrastructure necessary for my own kingdom.
After Ainz arrives I happily submit and thusly I will be allowed to rule over my own domain, with only the occasionally interference.
Alternatively I would choose to become a Werewolf, because head pads.

@@schaargock I would crave for a long life too, but I would follow a different approach: I would want to be a shape-shifter or something along these lines. Then I would study magic and whenever someone has a problem with me and I can´t get rid of him, I change my face and name...

You simply must understand the setting before you can make any judgement on anyone. The New World is a place of magic and monsters, where the whims of monarchs and nobles can decide if someone lives or dies at any time for any reason, add to that the many races and countless monsters that exist in the world. Morality is good to see and counts for something to be sure, but it won't save you from a bandit raid or some monster attacking your village. Strength and respect are far more important in the New World than in ours and so people will seek to become stronger and to gain respect for themselves (whether that means fear or benevolence is up to them). There are plenty of examples of Machiavellianism in this series, you will know who's strong and who's in charge because might makes right in this world whether anyone likes it or not.
Ainz and the rest of Nazarick entering the world is a huge game-changer, because they are so powerful that they can do pretty much whatever they want and there is little anyone can really do to fight back. Ainz himself is selfish and wants to expand Nazarick's power but isn't really the main threat, rather Albedo and Demiurge are clearly far more evil than he is and their actions in the world (often based on some greatly stretched and/or careless remark by Ainz) are wreaking havoc on the world. The balance of power is completely shifted from the original nations to Nazarick having almost all the cards in their hands.

      So just regular Overlord?
The main focus is never really Ainz, unfortunately. But what makes the series really great is because you not only see it from the eyes of the MC, but also from the people the he has "affected." My favorite characters are actually Neia, Enri, and Jircniv; mainly because you get to see how the actions of Nazarick effects other people differently, even if Ainz doesn't quite notice it himself!

Ya but I really just want more overlord
And I think it would be pretty sweet to follow a party for something like 20 episodes. Watching them grow and gain new abilities. just to see them get rekt by Ainz just Fing around
My gosh that would be glorious

If I were to compare another warrior system to the Adventurer's system in Overlord, I would say the Ninja system in Naruto, especially the one we know in the hidden leaf village is the superior one.
Both are similar where warriors take on quests and get paid, however, in Naruto it tries to guarantee its members stay alive, progress, and stay true to the path of a good person that serves their people, village, and country. While the Ninja system has its flaws I find it nowhere near the problems in Overlord in creating so many unchecked rouges that cause endless trouble.

I disagree if anything Overlord's world teaches you that you need to look out for yourself and make smart choices. Naruto's world uses child soldiers as the norm and teaches those kids to die like soldiers and patroits, molding them at an early age.

The concept of workers was a great world building decision. Since people with literal magic powers likely would be quite opposed to outside authority over the use of their powers. Then again having daggers at your back sent by the god squad is an effective motivator.

I have made a theory about why someone becomes a worker in the empire. We are told that the guild was falling into disuse there due to the jircniv reforms, which made the army more efficient against weak monsters. As mentioned by ainz in volume 2, adventurieir are primarily anti-monster mercenaries. If you take the weak monsters away from the weak adventurers, you not only take away the chance of earning money, but also of growing in rank. If we use the web novel as a source, we can find that Arche has been an adventurer before. If we think so, she was unable to rise in rank and therefore earn, thus finding herself working as a worker.

Some people just don’t like playing by the rules.
Someone has to do the cleaning.
You got to admit, it’s hypocritical for a priest to put a price on healing magic.
