Thanks! I think there's actually a feature on UA-cam videos where you can slow down the playback speed, which is especially helpful for learning things like complicated drumming. If it doesn't work for you on this video, I'll see if I can break the intro down in another video! :)
Blown away, could never figure out the beginning. Any advice for us mortals? Again tremendous, even Portnoy didn't play this right when siting in with them!
Haha, thanks! The intro has a lot of interesting fills and rhythms, but it's much too difficult to explain it in words. Whenever I'm trying to learn what a drummer is doing, I usually just watch every individual limb and practice what they're doing for each one. In this case, Zonder hits the bell of the ride on every fifth note of the 5/4 riff. Thanks for the comment! :) --Tony
Your awesome! I respect any drummer who can play Zonder! I've always wanted to at least learn the intro to this! Can you please post a slow break down on the intro? Again, your awsome!
There are two cymbals on my right side--a ride and a china. It might look like I'm striking them in the same manner, but I can assure you that I'm not getting two sounds out of one cymbal. Each cymbal sound you hear is coming from the cymbal that I'm hitting. --Tony
You got some balls dude to play that song in drum cover... You got my absolute respect...
Well thanks, dude! "One" was one of my favorites to learn :)
