Oh dinner with dad trumps everything! There was nothing more special for me than a unexpected dinner or lunch with one of my parents or both. It just brightened my life. Now I lost both my parents when I was about your age MaCenna and I still treasure those moments. They are priceless to me. I’m glad you also make them a priority and enjoy them😍
For some reason I found myself as little emotional watching you and your mama doing this together. It’s actually so heartwarming. What a beautiful relationship you both have

I can’t even. You’ve made early Texas Fall “feel” like October in the NorthEast. It is seriously so beautiful and cozy. I am just so in awe of your talent. PS. Both of y’all wreaths were sooo much better than anything I’ve ever seen in shops. Just incredible. Happy Fall!
Just make sure you don’t leave the pumpkin sitting there so long that they start to moisten and rot on the bottom and ruin your books. I have a really bad habit of leaving pumpkin sit too long and they have ruined a lot of things!
You can spray or brush a clear coat, like a polyacrylic on the bottom of the pumpkins ☺️

The white flower with the dark center in the photo is an anemone. The white ones you got are called cosmos.. Cosmos are super easy to grow from seed! You should definitely plant some in the spring! they come in different colors and are very cottage-y :)

Seeing you work on your uncovered dining room table freaked me out! Maybe lay craft paper down first or a plastic tablecloth with felt backing to protect the table while you work.
Love everything you and your mom do ...loved both the wreaths and I especially love that your mom is not afraid of colours....she surely knows how to play with it.
My observation is that McCenna's style has changed a bit and has been influenced by her mom in the best way, ever since she moved to Texas. 💗

You mentioned mud. Did you look for a doormat? Lots of seasonal finds out there, but coir may stain your decking.
Okay, some tips:
Purchase mums when they're in mostly bud stage so YOU get to enjoy the blooms. When the buds "crack" you can see the color to choose. I planted a few small ones a couple weeks ago and they're already looking a bit bedraggled. I don't know WHAT the critter nightlife is like. Mums like water.
To soften the porch display, you could add swaths of burlap underneath. Garden centers carry it now for wrapping shrubs for winter. That might also protect the decking when the pumpkins rot.
If you have squirrels in the area, they will chew on your pumpkins. I've heard of spraying them w/ a clear finish. I also heard Mentholatum (or was it Vicks VapORub?) will deter critters. Dunk a stick in the jar, pull it out and poke the coated stick among your display.
I love maidenhair fern, but they're finicky about lighting. I thought you picked a wire vine. I think that would do better w/ more sun. You could repot your plants in larger containers so they don't dry out so fast.
Ooh, Snake plant (AKA mother-in-law tongue) would look great for height.
Your two wreathes were GORGEOUS! I have to paint my east-facing door and have been thinking of a pumpkin color from the very faded asparagus green from a few years ago. I could make a wreath similar to yours, but would need to really pull out the blackish color your wreath has so there's contrast.
Kensley is actually afraid of the leaf blower and is trying to protect you from it, hence the hysterical barking. She’s a brave little girl
One thing you haven't got to put on your table is a ink well and a long feather, it will finish off the look. Xx

Put the pumpkins on the window sill on a platter or something so that it doesn't leave marks on all you hard work.
When fall season is over save some of the pumpkin seed to plant in the spring to grow your own for next year.
I LOVE Maidenhair ferns, but they're so difficult to care for. I gave up on them after killing my third or forth one. Fall decor looks great! You and your mom are sooo talented!
Agreed. I just bought another maidenhair fern. It’s doomed to die I bet. They are so pretty I can never resist them.

I always use yogurt lids under plants that are stacked on things, same for pumpkins, or put in bowls

Hi your roses need 8 hrs of sun light in order to bloom I know you like the pots for by your door I will recommend taking them out of the pot and putting them by the gate on each side and put the fern in the pots by the door they can do shade .. love how the house is coming along ❤❤

Yes it's always a good idea to place a surface protection under your decor to protect your wooden surfaces.

A hint for your ferns.. for any ferns.. set your soaker hose so it waters UNDER the foliage. Pouring water down the center from above causes them to turn brown.

Beautiful! The decor on the floor with the books and branch's looks like a painting. I also looooove the pumkin patch out on the porch. Elevating the pumkins on a brick made it really perfect!
My Daughter and I so look forward to your vlogs🤩 we just did wreaths recently, shopping for wreaths we loved but found were SO EXPENSIVE! We found starters at goodwill with dusty green foliage then bought new add ons to replicate, loved how mine came out with custom colored painted mini pumpkins in aqua,dusty green,vanilla and rusty orange then added some acorn picks to cap it off😊 love love love decorating for the holidays🎉 You Gals did an amazing job!
