Why The Morning-After Pill Is At Risk

- Since the overturning of Roe v. Wade where half of US states could outlaw or reduce abortion services, more women could be turning to “Plan B,” America’s most recognized morning-after pill. Owned by two private equity firms, Kelso & Co. and Juggernaut Capital Partners, the pill is one of the highest-priced over-the-counter medications sold in the US at between $40 and $50. But confusion around the language on the label could mean trouble for the brand and its consumers.

Why The Morning-After Pill Is At Risk
Unless the government is going to pay all the medical expenses, food, clothes, school, from birth and until the child turn 18, then they have no right to force someone to have a kid!
Its your punishment for being irresponsible. 🤬😡
@@Maestroxxx1 but using the pill is being responsible..?
@@Bruthric People who get pregnant out of wedlock need to be punished. That is the whole point.
@@Maestroxxx1 you do know married women use plan b, birth control AND get abortions right???? Everyone cannot afford to have 15 kids because their husband can’t keep it in his pants or get a vasectomy. People need to mind their own business when it comes to the family planning of someone they are NOT sleeping with.
@@Maestroxxx1 That would punish the child for the parents' mistake. That child would repeat the cycle too, creating an explosion of poverty-struck children.
I swear, the minute the US bans all birth control I will leave the country. A lot of people don’t seem to realize women don’t just take contraception to prevent pregnancy, a lot use it to treat health problems. I’m a proud 27 year old celibate but HAVE to take birth control for a period disorder and have been on it since I was 16. If my body didn’t get the hormones that birth control provides my body with I would have 2-3 week long periods with non-stop bleeding and anemia due to the blood loss.
Yeah, they don’t realize birth control can also be used to treat other health conditions. Not just about preventing pregnancy. It is so messed up.
Look into natural options like Chaseberry or apple cider vinegar. Take b12 daily.
@MissDesireIndependance. Have any of these “remedies” been clinically proven to work for all of the different kinds of period disorders? If so could you please provide links with information? No offense but apple cider vinegar sounds like snake oil and unfortunately my condition requires hormone replacement therapy.

The lack of education and not listening to the science will continue leading us down a dark path in this country.

I agree.
Probably because the "Science" is bought and paid for to promote Profits for Corporations.
it makes me want to leave and move to a better country bc clearly we're moving in the wrong direction.
No one has the right to use their religious beliefs to control another person. This is a religiously free country.
There are non-religious arguments against abortions.
Target is protecting people religious rights as well. If a Catholic didn't want to feel responsible for contributing to the act. That's the amazing thing about freedom. People in the medical field take an oath to do no harm.
Dont it say somewhere in the bible that life starts at first breath? or am i thinking of something else.
@@availableusername9101 Not that I'm aware of. There is at least one passage iirc about God having known you in the womb.
If I’m gonna be honest I don’t think it’s solely religious people. But more so people well men who think they can have a say about things they have no idea about. It’s kinda scary seeing this all happen with no say in the matter. If this gets worse in America there’d be no reason to stay🤷♀️
there are going to be so many unwanted children… and then very troubled adults
The religious zealots don't care about that though. They don't think that far ahead on this stuff.

Same difference.
From either perspective the government is intruding on personal matters of medicine and religion.
And it actually isn’t!!! It only works if an Embryo hasn’t formed. Meaning it actually doesn’t abort a baby.
So… women can get pregnant only 36ish days a year (they have to be ovulating) but men can impregnate a woman every 15 minutes if they wanted. Who should we be monitoring??
15 minutes?? what type of guys have you been with
Right...a man can cause several pregnancies per year, and a woman can have just one pregnancy in that amount of time. But somehow they are always focused only on controlling women's reproductive rights and blaming women for everything, even when the baby's father abandons them it's her fault, instead holding men accountable for their sh*tty irresponsible behaviour. The misogyny is real.
USA will be weak if there are many old people living in it in the future. There will be only few men and women to to make it rich and be tapped for military and law enforcement roles. Esp in times of war and nuclear war where millions of population will be lost.
None of them.
@@jpz6768 you know america having protection has existed since the start of this nation and yet we're doing just fine
Of course they want to restrict, regulate, and eradicate birth control. Birth rates are low and rich people need people to make babies so they can make money and have a continuous rate/flow of workforce. As we age, more and more businesses are going to be short staffed or will have to close because there's not enough people able to work/willing to work.
Wow, how ture!
Fr the government wants to keep people on section 8 and poor ! No thanks yucks
So accurate.
They could achieve the same thing giving us things like work life balance.
@@trevoncowen9198 this! There are LOTS of people who would love to have children but they can't because their job doesn't have any parental leave (or very little if it does). Make it easier for them have children instead of forcing people who don't want children (whether that's with one particular pregnancy or in general)
I find it funny how people said oh there are other ways to stop pregnancy like condom, plan b, etc etc. but come after condoms and plan b next. These fools want to take away other peoples choices.
And the next step is they wanna ban birth control
Republicans are just right wing authoritarian statists.
We already knew this would happen so shouldn’t be surprised.
It's all about taking contol of us.
Who’s coming after codoms? No one should have the choice to prevent a fertilized egg from living. No one should be allowed to take away someone else’s life
A lot of medication that helps women is restricted. For instance, UTI medication is extremely difficult to get for no apparent reason. You have to go to a doctor (I have been told I had to wait 2 weeks for an appointment with my gyno), get a prescription, then you are able to obtain it, all while being in serious pain everyday. Same is true for yeast infections or BV. These drugs aren't more deadly than any other over the counter medication, and they aren't addictive. It is simply to make women suffer!
Right. I have bad BV why do I need a Dr's note for Flagyl ????
YES.
You waited 2 weeks with a uti?? I used to get them all the time and never waited more than 24 hours! Urgent care, minute clinic etc. Whatever it takes. B
I got 8 uti last year finally figure out the herb d mannose works amazing for uti when I feel it coming I take 4 then if in 2 hrs it's not fully gone I take 4 more I no longer get them at all the herb has almost cure it! Hope u try it! Gotta pass on knowledge that antibiotics is horrible fir your body
I mean, UTIs are bacterial infections, and antibiotic treatments are by prescription only. lol This shouldn't come as a surprise.
Why is this even a political thing...
Because religious people want to force their extreme views onto the rest of society.
Because Jebus is Lord.
Cause it’s Evil vs Christ!
It’s because Republicans and the so-called Christians wanna control women’s rights and want to go backwards instead of forward
Because people want to use religion to control people.
I had a guy I dated for a while in college. He was not in college. My final year in college I found out he was sabotaging The condoms we were using and stealthing me on nights I had a good amount of alcohol to drink. I was lucky that I never got pregnant all those months and when I found out, I had access to this. He was trying to get me pregnant so I wouldn’t leave him because he was also seeing another girl and asking her to marry him too. The story is such a long and complex story but Most girls that met him had no idea he was the kind of guy to do such a thing. He seemed like such a great guy, compassionate, down to earth, had a hard life growing up and seemed to have overcome a lot of obstacles. So much I knew about him was a lie and I cannot imagine the mess I’d be in had I become pregnant. I probably would have had a harder time finishing up my last year of university and maybe would have never graduated. I might be a less productive member of society at that rate.

I think birth control pils, tampons, pads, plan b, condoms, spermecide, menstrual cups, hormonal implants, IUDs, hysterectomies, and child care services like daycare, diapers, and formula should be free.

@@sophia-by8jb I'm just saying, theres food stamps. Why cant we make other things more affordable too? Things that people need? Food isnt the only thing helping you survive. Why can't we at the very least, make some sort of service to make these items more affordable for the less fortunate? There could even be donations for these items, hence, making them free. As a country, we should have programs to assist people with sanitary products, contraception, and child care. Something that people below the poverty line often struggle with is access to things for their children and the necessary tools to access contraception so they stop having kids. Imagine having a child on minimum wage because you can't afford birth control. Then imagine you have another. It's a lot of mouths to feed when you can't even afford basic things. My father grew up poor and his mother had to get a lot of things second hand for him. My mother also grew up poor. I think it's only fair that a charity exists to donate to people who need help so this stuff doesn't happen. My parents had an awful childhood growing up in poverty. It hurts that at the very least, this stuff can't be stamped in some way or donated. Knowing that someone could be growing up like my own parents did haunts me.

The fact people thing birth control is that same confuses me…. It’s not abortion, it’s one thing to not like ending a pregnancy (or killing a fetus whatever you call it) as at that point it has breathing and a heart and what ever.
However birth control (in this case) the egg would bearly if divided yet. It would be just a clump of cells. What. If there seriously gonna argue “oh but it’s living”bruh all the cells in ur body are living and die everyday. The cells of the egg don’t have a brain or heart or lungs.

What are they thinking! They expect each women to have a dozen kids plus in their life time?! The heck is wrong with people!
Men hate women
@Deadhill Cemetery not everyone can have kids. Some women have medical issues and can’t reproduce. So no. It’s not how it should be.
@Viva Cristo Rey Biologically speaking, you're incorrect. When humans lived as hunter-gatherers, a dozen or so kids was not normal. This was for the following reasons
- Puberty was later. A girl might become fertile and capable of carrying a pregnancy to term at, say, 18 instead of 14.
- Puberty was later because obesity was nonexistent, and periods of starvation were the norm. Starvation delays puberty.
- Adult women often starved. When starving, they could not be fertile or carry a pregnancy to term.
- Women always breastfed. They thus experienced lactational amenorrhea, so for at least 6 months they were infertile. If they were breastfeeding multiple children, or others' children, this could go on even longer.
- Starvation caused menopause to occur earlier.
So in our natural environment, having a few kids would have been more normal, not ~12. And having so many children inevitably puts a serious and significant strain on a woman's health.
We could return to this state, but this would mean allowing women and children to starve, exclusively breastfeeding for at least 6 months of a baby's life, and never using formula. None of these things are possible or ethical in many cases.
It’s not considered abortion because the egg has not been fertilized. Abortion is usually taken when eggs are fertilized already and you ARE pregnant.
I am anti abortion (well mostly) but I HIGHLY agree with you and frankly there’s more you could add.
Within the first weeks it’s not a human yet. It’s just a clump of cells. The logic of “oh but it’s a human right after u get pregnant” ain’t correct, it’s not a human till it’s a living human as in it has organs, by there logic cancer cells are human since there separate from the person and can live in there own.

They need to leave womens bodies alone. Not everyone can afford children or child care. Depression is going to skyrocket for women if things dont change. Emergency contraceptive should be more accessible since the abortion bans.
I don't believe there should be any restrictions on contraceptions, but this isn't the root of the problem. Congress needs to legally define when a fertilized egg gains personhood and what rights that person has while dependent on the mother for survival.
You're never going to get 100% agreement on this, but with debate and forethought you can get a "good faith" compromise that almost everyone can live with. You also avoid taking powers away from the state by only federally define the boundaries, not the rules.
@@sncy5303 I agree, that should be the legal definition because this ruling technically means that the baby has more rights than the mother. Although, I would add that the lowest one can go is whether the fetus can be “born” ie any fetus in the third trimester.

Why do women have to go through so much, isn't vasectomy an option?
You gotta take into account other things as well.
See a lot of guys don't take stuff or doo stuff to our bodies, we don't like pills and anything like that tbh.
But a lot of woman takes a lot of stuff, and will doo a lot of stuff to there bodies like bbl, surgeries etc.
Even if there was male birth control available, doo you really think big pharma will profit of of guys birth control? Absolutely not, it'll be a bust.
Where ever there is demand that's were the money goes towards too. It's all about profits at the end of the day.
Apparently it's always the woman's fault, but men just don't want to take responsibility for their own actions
I'm a Pro Lifer and I believe Plan B should be easily available. It just makes sense.
It doesn’t make sense for you to politically support pro-life then. Sometimes we just have two options we don’t like and have to vote for the lesser of two evils (if you are even so lucky to have representatives that care about their constituents’ opinions)
@@yucol5661ofcourse it makes sense to avoid killing a baby. Most modern day pro lifers encourage the PREVENTION of unwanted pregnancies than the murder of innocent lives.

I used plan b years ago 2 different times. The last time i took it I developed an ovary cyst that burst and i was in a lot of pain but hey it worked and i didn’t get pregnant. I have a 4 year old now so taking plan b didn’t lower my chance of getting pregnant.
Are you saying Plan B gave you an ovary cyst?
@@cherryjewel4185 no read it again, plan b was used FOR the cyst.
Plan B didn’t prevent pregnancy for me either. I actually got pregnant. Baby implanted in my tube and resulted in ectopic pregnancy. My tube burst and was removed along with the baby of course. Now that doesn’t mean plan b is bad in my eyes completely but timing plays a HUGE factor
In it. I would suggest tracking ovulation. Taking plan b during ovulation can be dangerous or just fail. Taking it 2 days before ovulation however may have better and safer results
@@SisterSanMiguel do you take the daily pill?

Wisp and Nurx both have the generic for $15-$17 and you can order a couple a keep them untill you need them. I think they also have overnight shipping if its a emergency.
Birth control pills can also prevent a fertilized egg from attaching. A little investigation goes a long way. I'm also a nurse, so that helps. These people are fueling fear.
Yes but $50 vs years of child support. I always used it when I needed it.

I remember when I was a teenager they had shows to encourage young girls not to have a baby, now they want us to ha ha its so funny.

Yeetus to the fetus? Yeah its becoming more difficult.
this wouldn't be an issue if men just learned how to keep their legs closed
They may as well stop selling condoms while they’re at it.
I dont think thats the right course of action. However, if women no longer have the choice what to do with their bodies. i do think men should have more consequences as well.
They probably just want to punish women; not men.

How does Uncle Clarence feel about overturning Loving v Virginia
He would first have to ask his wife🤣
He is too busy putting purbes on coke cans around the office
He indicated that he doesn't agree with substantive due process. If I had to guess (since I fall on the same line as he does on this issue), he'd suggest fitting the holding of Loving v. Virginia under the Privileges and Immunities Clause. His issue isn't with the rights that the Supreme Court has outlined under substantive due process; it's with the doctrine itself. He clearly believes people have a right to marry whomever they want lol.
Welcome to America, the most powerful country in the world to better itself, yet outright doesn't.
It takes two to make a baby, but sure just continue to shame women . How many women can a single man impregnate in a 9 month period? Women aren’t the single problem on unwanted pregnancies.
because men have no say in abortion. You want it to be just your choice? Well then your getting most of the shame.
Extremely sad to see a black man (amongst many others...such as women) fight against women's rights. He of all should try and understand what it means to have your rights taken away from you. And to all the women out there fighting against a woman's rights to have an abortion, I say this: you are literally fighting against your own kind. People, worry about your body and your rights, and let others deal with their bodies and their rights. Live and let live. We are threading on the outskirts of a recent global pandemic, haven't people suffered enough? Let's focus on the many things that are actively plaguing our world today.

Usually they have them in those plastic cases. But you’re right. My mom brought up the case of this cafe near my area that gives away condoms and plan b by just leaving it in the bathroom. Where will religious intrusion end, when compulsory participation in their mythological delusion is compulsory for the population? Christian taliban indeed.
This limitations being placed on women, all comes down to the potential of future taxpayers that are created through a uterine pregnancies'. Women are not birthing machines to created the next generation of taxpayers for either political parties. Until, equal wage for woman is a priority in order for single mothers to care for themselves, and those pregnancies' that they deem beneficial to the woman's health, and financially thesisable for the woman to raise, while financially being able to provide for the the birthed child. There are no restrictions to men's reproductive rights, nor their rights to deny responsibility to impregnating a woman whether, it was consensual or non- consensual.
In Brazil it costs 1 USD and is available in all pharmacies.

Soon we will lose all birth control...smh. This is why religion should not dictate our laws
When a fertalized egg is a person should be defined. Thats all there is to it. In my opninion this should be legally determined by the people that have the scientific knowledge about it and not politicians. The time before that its the choice and responsibility off the people themselfes. Nobody has the right to make these choises for other people.
That includes taking a life.
It’s not a strictly scientific thing. The idea of “personhood” is mostly philosophical. However, science can help us come to a conclusion about what personhood is. One good science-backed definition is that a fetus is a person when it can survive outside of the mother. Up until that point, it’s just a part of or extension of the mother. This is called a “viable fetus.” This occurs at about 24 weeks.
I still can't believe they banned abortion in the USA... Truly sorry for all women and men who are being affected by this.
Even though I live in third world country I am so relieved things aren't like this here, I need to take the pill for health reasons, and I'm not even sexually active, there isn't a need for prescription here to buy the pill but I have one because it's for health reasons so I go to the doctor annually to check if everything is alright and she passes it just in case, (also becuase sometimes I buy it in a country next to mine which requires prescription, and it's a lot cheaper there, but they still dont make a big deal out of it). If I weren't taking the pill right now I'd probably be suicidal if not dead by now because I was severely anemic when I started taking it because of the amount of blood I had already lost, I was really depressed from the mood swings, and I'd miss school from the amount of pain I was feeling, just walking to the bathroom would make me cry, id puke from the cramps and nausea, eating would worsen my pain, i was weak, and life just felt pathetic. The pill saved my life. I've been taking it for 3 years now, but I still need to supplement myself with iron because even though the bleeding stopped, I'm still repositioning the the iron supplies I lost
At this point…. Just take my whole uterus 🤦🏾♀️.
