Nice job. Did it have a 5 speed or 6 speed gearbox in this set up? Ive noticed NA barra turbo conversion been done on falcons still with a 5 speed Auto.
@livoverall4752 I think thats including the zf transmission but... You can get a turbo motor put in here in Adelaide for UNDER 10k not including the trans if you need the zf trans as 5 speed will blow.
You can get a supercharger kit for $5700. On NA. Change the transmission with 6 speed Auto though. Get a second hand one for around $1400. You get around 430kw. Better than turbo package
I know the owner has never used the full NA 172 KW as he is quite reserved and a very shy guy, so that auto will be totally fine and no more boost will be needed.
Im in the states but could a NA FG motor hold 500 wheel through a powerglide with the usual supporting mods (valvesprings, oil pump gears, and headstuds)?
The motor can handle upto 800hp without any major changes just depending on your gearing set up. ZF 6 speed Auto or manual transmission is best for turbo or supercharger bolt on. as you can get higher torque set up. High performance valve springs and larger injectior is a must for induction set up. I prefer supercharger over turbo. No lag. But not better on fuel. It gets thirsty
Have you done any internal engine work at all? I’m doing a conversion on mine soon and I’m trying to figure out how much power I can push safely on the na bf motor with just doing the valve springs/ retainers and the timing chain & oil pump gears
Curious how this car is still going today, still running solid? How’s the transmission going? I am thinking about doing something similar. Would love to know how it’s going these days!!
5 speed not rated to handle turbo. have heard stories of those who tried. instantly blown the 5 speed. so basically handles zero, zilch, nada, nothing at all. must be either manual box with upgraded clutch or zf 6 speed auto. preferably the zf 6hp26 model
@@firstworldproblems6064 Yeah I also unfortunately have the 5spd (p plater that bought car without research) Will be switching to a manual box once this thing blows up. Bloody french
@@firstworldproblems6064 this model car has the smaller of the 2 ZF 6 speed transmission Unfortunately this needs to be strengthened before we push it any more.
So my mate has a turbo motor but NA everything else, car hasn't been on the dyno but is faster than mine that made 410kw if I had to guess his probably makes about 430kw on 98 and 500+ on e85 it runs flex, Trans is hating life but holding in there, subframe snapped and was repaired by installing a twin bush hat kit, everything else is holding up fine..
@@IndependentMotorsportsI have a mate who turbo his 09 FG falcon with 5 speed Auto. The mechanic said he should change but it still going strong and he has it torque fairly high.
You can buy a complete kit online for $5K, (From nice alloy FG Turbo style intake, to the oil feed bungs, etc, etc) Just need to know what youre doing to install it!
Hi we can do this conversions unfortunately it is very hard to qoute as the parts are now getting quite hard to get. It would just simply be parts plus labour
Yeah for sure. Not sure if you're asking if Independant Motorsports could do it specifically but just as a general question you can most certainly do something similar. I think the 4 speed transmission is quite weak though, so you can't push too much power before they break. However you can get them built to be stronger and handle much more power for quite cheap.
Manual swap it. or you could drop in an auto 6spd, but after doing research on it, there is so much hassle and intricacies with doing so manual would 1000% be better. I plan to manual swap my 5spd FG within this year. If you don't know how to drive manual force yourself too, you'll learn through pressure. So if you care more about straight line speed, go ZF 6SPD If you want to chuck a doughy around the roundabout or have a good time around the bends with a spooly get it 6spd manual swapped. Assuming you love this car that is. Don't put power on the 4spd, it'll just be a headaches after headaches to come. Unless you're a sensible driver and dont have a heavy foot, go for it. BTR aren't exactly forgiving once you reach over that 400kw mark , even less than that is a bit dodge, but it all comes down to driving style. But the 6spd manual and 6spd zf both can handle a good flogging 100x better than the BTR.
This seems really quite simple and easy? not a whole not of parts not like a lot of companies say you need offering kits in the 6000 thousand mark
Those artec manifolds are a glorious piece of kit
Pretty happy with how they work.

How much power are you going to make?
Where are use based?

From my understanding it's still going as good as it was with the exception of the transmission is showing signs which is expected.
Does anyone know what wheels are on this? Koya?

what is an indicative cost for this ?
You really need to budget approximately 14k for something like this
Wouldn't the heat from that turbo be to much for the radiator overflow bottle?
No, it will not affect it at all.
How much can the NA motor hold? Does the trans and diff and tailshaft all become limiting factors before the motor?
The automatic transmission is the limiting factor.
@IndependentMotorsports the zf can handle or is it that a stock zf won't and needs a few things.
